When Wolanin scored to tie it the place was bonkers then when Dixon scored in double OT I can't believe the roof didn't collapse. The only problem with it was the refs deciding it was offsides using the same camera that the bigfoot video was captured with from the other side of the ice!
I was in standing room only for that game and it's one of the most memorable hockey games I've ever attended.

I'd take 2016. That team had been in that spot. Ran the gamut of playoff games. Plus, the CBS line was just flat-out unstoppable.
2021 has yet to play in the tournament. With that said, they showed me a lot the past two games.
Fun conversation.
Agreed. Let's revisit after the season!

I think what stands out about the D-corps that makes me pick them is their youth. Only 2 seniors and our best D is a freshman (IMO). 2016 was heavy upper class. I think the talent level is higher in the 2021 D-corps. That's saying a lot.
Ok let's reframe it: Who would you pick to win in a theoretical matchup between them (assume full health)? - My gut says 2016 but I think there's a lot of nostalgia talking there.

Can you ask me after the season?
Top end forwards -- 2016
Forward depth -- 2021
Goaltending -- 2021, but it's close
Defense -- at the beginning of the year, I would have said 2016 with a bullet, but Sanderson is who I expected him to be and Kleven is MUCH better. Nearly all of the 2016 d-corps played in the NHL. The same could happen again. I think I go 2021 because I think Sanderson will be an all-star in the show. This is pretty similar to my thinking. Deeper group of forwards but nothing to match CBS line. I kinda threw my hands up when trying to compare the D corps though.

McFeely is incapable of stating that UND is the better team without qualifying it somehow. He has continually hammered the excuses related to losing players early, transfers, etc. Let's make sure we don't let that temper our celebrating after a win on Saturday.

How do you rank this year's team in comparison to the 2016 team?

So just found out my wife got me tickets with my brother for the Bison game as an early birthday present. It's either gonna be awesome or the absolute worst but I'm excited.

This guy has an awesome twitter account to follow and I'm extremely jealous of him.... goes to multiple games a week. I think he's been to every FBS stadium, and is doing the FCS now due to the opportunity with the spring season. He's heading to UND on Thursday for his second game here this year. He really liked the setup, which says a lot since he's been to so many stadiums.
I saw this earlier in the week. Here's his write-up on his Alerus Center visit: https://fifthquarter.net/fifth-quarter/cfb-campus-tour/2021/02/25/cfb-campus-tour-fcs-week-1-recap-three-domes-in-three-days/
I found it interesting that he thought so highly of the Alerus, but it's nice to hear that from someone who has seen many stadiums.

What kind of tv coverage might be available for the Thursday game for fans outside of Nodak? Any information would be appreciated.
I believe all of their games are streamed on ESPN+ which is $5.99 per month or $60 per year

Frankly, I do not want to be with Duluth. Hopefully things shuffle around by the time selection happens. The only benefit is familiarity but that’s about it.
Have to get past giant-killer AIC first lol

Loving the nchc.tv web platform right now. The picture in picture mode is amazing for work... only problem is I keep changing it to full screen view haha
Didn't realize that was an option. Clutch!

I guess what I mean is I don't know why it still needs to be played at every amateur and professional sporting event in the country.

Sounds as if people's disapproval is misplaced.
If innately disrespecting the anthem was so offensive, why has our fanbase continually yelled “Sioux” at the end it with absolutely no repercussions? It’s the same thing. People are making a statement at the expense of the anthem.
If it's an issue of politics, just say so. Don't butter it up with the anthem disrespect stuff that our fanbase has been engaged in for 40+ years now. Then again, if you don't want politics in sport, perhaps we shouldn't play the anthem at all.
I've wondered for years what the actual point of playing the anthem before sporting events is.

He said this at 1:15am this morning. Context is important. At that time, he simply stated we don't want any ongoing voting being done. That's all he said, nothing about stopping counting anywhere.
Got it. Hadn't seen the quote yet so wasn't sure of the context. Thanks.

Stop spreading this media lie. He didn't say he wants to stop counting, he said he wants to stop voting. Vast difference.
Where exactly is there still voting going on?

Changing course after putting out the statement in support of Miller a couple days ago bothers me and isn't a good look, but at least the situation won't constantly hang over the team and fanbase for the next 4 years. Moving on.
This is basically where I'm at. The University has egg on their face for how they handled this, but the team can move forward and not have this hanging over them.

Hayduke was a positive member posting here prior to Covid, and I imagine he'll return to being a positive member posting here once college sports restart at UND (and this thread is gone).
Is there an actual plan to sunset this thread (and overtly political arguments in general) at some point?

Well the M. Miller story is going "mainstream" now. I believe in second chances for sure....but curious what happens.
Agree on the 2nd chances thing but makes it tough to want to cheer for him

That bracketology was done before the SDSU-USD cancellation. Now SDSU would be 4-2 with a loss to NDSU and I think it would be very hard to put a 4-2 SDSU team that UND beat ahead of a 5-1 UND team (assuming UND beats Youngstown).
