Grand Forks school District cutting 50 jobs that’s all fine and dandy but my question to you is we are cutting 50 teaching jobs. Why do we need so many superintendents or Assistance superintendents and assistant principles

My question is what’s up with all the para professionals?

how many of you had paraprofessionals in your classrooms?

I thought the teachers were there to teach, they keep wanting less students per class and more help in their classroom.

i don’t know what the paras do so I may be way off base.

It's nice to have more dining options in GF and it's difficult to see restaurants close. But, as jdub27 suggested, the restaurants that are viable and well patronized, will stay open. Those that aren't, won't. It's the law of the market.

This comment is not aimed at you personally, but at an opinion I've heard a few times about noisy restaurants in GF.

I know I'm stating the obvious, but you don't suppose that a restaurant is noisy before it opens its doors on a typical day do you? It's not the restaurant that's noisy, it's the customers. And what do noisy restaurants have in common? They're busy. And they're busy because they're doing something, or many things, right--good food, good service, good vibe, or maybe people like going there because they're busy.

So, you can go to one of the noisy restaurants--Texas Roadhouse, Blue Moose, Speedway, The Hub, The Frog--and put up with the noise while you're enjoying a good meal, or you can go to a Green Mill before it closes, or a Crooked Pint, before it closes, and have your peaceful meal. Your choice.

    Now get off my lawn!

    Not on your lawn

im smart enough to know why places are noisy

I'm also smart enough to know that the dumb sob who turns up the music can tone it down

Im also smart enough to know they can put sound deadening materials on walls and ceilings

    now go shovel my driveway

  3. Who owns the old green mill and will something ever open there?

need family dining where you can sit and actually visit with those across the table.

Texas Roadhouse, way too loud, vinyl taco way too loud ,

Does anyone know if they will continue to sell 'all session' tickets after the tournament starts?  I've always bought our tickets on Saturday morning when we get there but the Friday play in is a new thing.  Pretty sure 9 session package is still cheaper than buying 8 sessions individually (even though I'm skipping the Friday session).  As an FYI they also usually have an all session package with drink tickets.

(I'm morally opposed to paying ticket master fees when I can avoid them)

Any ticket vendor needs to be forced to have the total price of a ticket listed before you buy and see all the added fees

sort of like renting a car, some have stadium fees when you pick up at an airport, don’t know what the hell that is.

I wonder how many people will be driving right on by on their way back up from the Omaha hockey series...

Probably having a large hockey gathering in Omaha, not impressed with the champions club leadership

Montanas are not playing in a Midwest conference, they would accept a MWC invite but not something in the dakotas

Montanas may not have a choice if the goal is to move up

the big 2 left out west want to be with the big dogs and fcs schools aren’t big dogs the same goes for mwc, I guess it depends on who lets their egos get in the way.

to move up how much increased income  vs increased expenses will there be for fcs schools.  I still see some schools dropping football in the fcs.

Great questions. I would want to know what the plan is to make the program better.  What is the plan for recruiting and why they are doing what they are doing. This year is now further clarification that their recruiting plan is not working. Accountability.  Expectations.

Does Chaves expect them to be a Top 3 team in the Summit League every year and if so has that been conveyed to the coach?  Did she come back and relay what she needs to make that happen (if she doesn't have it now).

Their recruiting plan is abnormal for a program in this area.  They have purposely chosen to recruit distance players at the same rate they recruit local players. Do SDSU and USD do that?  Does NDSU?  There are five players from Canada on this team and one of them appears good (Pemberton).  If they are going distance, why are they not of similar caliber and body type to the top teams?

In-game coaching is probably a hard discussion.  But development could be a topic.  Are the pieces in place for off-season development?

If a team is losing by 50+ at any time in the conference season there is an issue.  Period.

Don’t know what Chaves thinks but he sure wanted in the pictures during the post game hockey celebration.

most I have seen of him.

    Thats an odd tiebreaker

It’s first head to head which was split then it goes to records against the other teams starting from the top down and they won the first team tie breaker, UND lost both games and they split with sdsu

For anyone to think we have enough talent on this team to compete is delusional at best.  Coaching is hardly the main issue.  The players are below average outside of a couple.  They are not even close to being upper-level Summit players.

which is why you see us losing by 50+ points.  She isn’t ready to run this program and it is showing.  And what was the point of bringing back Motherwell?  He is the main contact that got us into this mess.  Ignoring the four-state area and going to Canada/Michigan.  Great idea

Would the record be different with these same players and Robuck as coach?  I believe it would

Mal wasn’t ready but hiring from within is the pattern

I think we have DI talent on this team but they have been failed by coaching staff this year you can see it pretty much in all phases of our game. This group of young players have not been coached in the fundamentals of basketball it shows when we play teams above us. We don’t play as a team it shows in our defensive play with lack of rotation and switching to cover players. The top three teams in conference scored 100 against in final games of the season. Mallory has talked playing team defense but we haven’t been able to do this. Second we haven’t had any offense that involved team scoring concept and we relied on Kacie and then Kiaha Hurst to provide offense and then Pemberton to create offense from her rebounding or fast break points. The worst part is this was acknowledged when we played Bison when she was interviewed. I was very disappointed in this comment because I believe this some of our problem we believe in star system but top teams are working to get balanced scoring from their teams. The next is we have recruited players with some great athletic abilities but if anything these players have gone backward. this team did not improve much over the season and puts us into where do we stand going into next year. Also we’re losing Kacie for next year and I don’t think we can pencil in any players beyond Pemberton as probable starter. Hurst has to much baggage to account on for us to improve on. She does’t play defense and her offense mind of her getting her offense doesn’t make for team concept. Then we have freshman group Horne, Cottingham,Owen and Ibrahim will need more time to develop into starters. Beal has the tools to start but we have not developed her tools where she is ready to start and be counted on to start next year. I think her offensive confidence is all but gone and she has forgotten to be offensive minded when she has advantage. I could go on others but each them can have roles on this team. I believe if we get any openings we need to look to the portal find some talent ready to play and start. The year after that we need to find some players with length and can play as freshmen. I don’t see Mallory fixing this all next year but we better seem some big moves forward in the development of this program. That starts immediately after next weeks loss which is going occur  like clock work and I feel for Kacie and other senior players leaving this team. This year is pretty much lost year and two steps backward for the program.

A lot of the problems are on Mal.  She says what’s wrong but doesn’t  fix the problems.  Hurst is such a liability because of no defense and selfish offense.  We played way too much selfish one in one offense.
I would think a few in the transfer portal as soon as they can .

  12. I agree with Brady’s heart and hustle and the want to win

he has had a tough year with losing his dad.

i do question the coaches subbing and I think Mara and Williams could both have had a few minutes each game

The biggest mistake and easiest to correct is box out on defense we gave up 6-10 points by small guards rebounding because we didn't put a body on them as they crashed the boards.  2 rebounds lead to 2 Three pointers.  Others to a reset and inside buckets.  Simply lost track of their man and gave up a rebound.  We had that game.

We had this game, game against ndsu, game against Northern Arizona, seeing a pattern here
