  1. Maag baby!
  2. Looking for a few receptions from Zalvaney today.
  3. Nice to get that first 1st down out of the way
  4. THey don't have the starters listed right.....Ocansey is starting at corner. Forced a punt...good start.
  5. A win and no injuries today please, even if it's a 1 point win.
  6. Just turned on the SDSU - USD game. USD punted and Janke fumbled on their own 9 yard line and USD got the ball. USD came out, had to call a timeout before the first play as the time clock was down to 2 seconds. Then on 3rd down their QB threw a not so good pass and it got picked off in the end zone. 3 mistakes in 5 plays.....I guess we aren't the only ones who do dumb things sometimes.
  7. Kostich gonna Kostick If Skokna was back, at least we wouldn't have to worry about Siegel getting injured on a kickoff, but yeah he is doing a great job on returns.
  8. I was thinking/wondering earlier in the week if they keep stats of yards on scramble passes outside of the pocket after a a play breaks down (so not designed rollouts), Tommy would have to be near the top or at the top on passing yards on scramble plays like that........he makes 4 or 5 of those a game it seems like.
  9. As far as not using Smith enough, I think we've used him about the right amount. As was mention Hoos is just better between the tackles than Smith, and somewhat like Brady O. he rarely doesn't get at least a little positive yardage even if not much is there. Also Hoos showed he's not necessarily slow either....in that long run last week....he looked pretty fast and nobody was really gaining much ground on him after he broke through the hole and was out in the open. I'd rather start the game out with Hoos and pick up some tough yards up the middle and get some momentum running the ball and then bring and mix in Smith for screen passes and what not, pretty much like Danny has being doing it. I think Smith and Hoos are a great compliment to each other and Danny is being pretty smart about it so far. Also as someone else mentioned, Smith tends to go hobling off at least once a game.....so it's good to keep him somewhat fresh when we need him like on that pitch play. Smith is still a pretty important piece of our offense. I love having an offense where you don't know who is going to get the ball......or where.
  10. Haven't listened to the 360 podcast yet but YSU didn't have much offense last year and it was a very close game at home. I think our offense is better than last year, but defense probably not as good. I think it's a pretty good matchup for us but I'm not counting my chickens just yet. Need to show up and play with a sense of purpose on Saturday. Hoping our defense gets a few turnovers to help us out, sounds like they are prone to throwing INT's. Definitely won't be surprised if this game is still in reach for either team well into the 4th quarter.

    Homecoming

There was one play in particular I remember where Bo was out wide to the right by himself....Red went out in motion to the right .....the one defender moved over to follow Red....Belquist was wide open on an 8 yard in.

    Homecoming

One thing I noticed in re-watching the game that I didn't notice as much when it was Live, is how often Red was actually in and sent into motion, particularly in the first half. He would go running across the and they had to adjust and follow him and definitely have to pay attention to him because of his speed and that he has picked up good yardage around the ends. So even when he isn't getting the ball, he is having an impact.

    Polls

The SIU - MSU game will be a big game in the conference. If MSU loses they will have 4 losses. However their remaining games are against UNI, Western Illinois, South Dakota, Youngstown and Indiana State. Very winnable games as they don't play NDSU this year. They would be 7-4 if SIU beats them, and SIU would be 4-2 and lets say they only lose two more games they would be 7-4 also. So UND, MSU, and SIU could all be 7-4. I would hope all would get into the playoffs. SIU doesn't play SDSU this year so they could end up going 8-3 if they beat MSU and then only lose to NDSU. I'm glad we beat MSU with some style points. Not sure who I want to win in the SIU - MSU game, but either way we just need to keep winning.

    Homecoming

And most importantly...for me anyway is that he is 6-8 this year and just seems a lot better. Last year he was the backup, came in, and he looked like a really bad backup. His kicks just look better overall this year and he looks more confident. But there are a couple of gauruantees in life......death....taxes......and SiouxFan97 saying 'Kostich gonna Kostich' anytime a FG is missed.

    Homecoming

Ok I'll give you there is a .5% chance. But your comment that at 7-4 we probably don't make the playoffs.....is just way off. Being 7-4 in the MFVC will get us in.

    Homecoming

Another clear example of you can't take some of his posts seriously at all. There is absolutely ZERO chance we don't get in the playoffs with only 4 losses this year.

    Homecoming

No I don't think Tommy would have broken the DB's ankles if he ran it on that play. Yes he did it at the goal line that one time where he was about to go in the end zone so the defender went all in on him going straight ahead. Tommy can run but he's not the Michael Vick type and routinely going to break CB's ankles when he has them 1 on 1 out in the flat. Maybe Romfo could have broken the CB's ankles out in the flat.......maybe we should just play him the whole game

    Homecoming

Everyone has to remember that Siouxfan97 yelled at Tommy for not running it on the play below. Tommy scrambled out to his left to bye time, yes he had a little open room but that defender in the flat was screaming upfield at him at full speed. Tommy wouldn't have picked up any yards on that play and he would have taken a hit. How many huge plays has Tommy made scrambling out to the right or left, and he has run it several times when it was completely wide open and picked up yards. But because Tommy threw it away on that play and doesn't run it every time he gets outside Siouxfan97 wants to pull Tommy and put Romfo in. He literally called for Romfo to come in and play yesterday, that is why you can't take half of his posts serious. Yeah let's pull a guy who is 1st in completions, completion percentage, and Interceptions in the conference for an unknown commodity just because he can run better. Makes perfect sense.

How good was that catch that Red made along the sidelines but got called back by penalty. He can obviously catch, so I think we have a burner type right now should Danny choose to send him deep a few times to try and stretch the defense.

    Homecoming

We scored on every possession of the second half, and the last two possession of the first half. Hoping we can continue that roll on offense next week!
  21. He has gotten really good at that...picking the spot and powering through. I don't want to jinx it, but can't remember the first time he didn't get it on 3rd or 4th and 1. It's really nice having that be almost automatic. Let's not talk about that 4th and 2 though
  22. I think they have a pretty good return guy, so I doubt it was by design. They weren't horrible kickoffs today, but yeah not as deep as before. I think there was one touchback we had.
  23. It's not only winnable, it's a game we should win. Youngstown apparently played pretty well in the Fargodome today, so it's definitely no 'Gimme'. That said I expect we play much better on the road next week than we did against SIU, and I'm expecting a win.

    Homecoming

We needed to be 3-2 after the first five games and we are. The young OL now has 5 games under their belt and are hopefully all fairly healthy again and can continue to improve. Need to get a win at Youngstown and be 4-2 going into the bye week.....get some rest and also some more teaching for the young guys....and get ready for that second half of the season. I'm SO ok with UNI cocking off how Hoosman was their 3-4th string back and he is our starter.....was a huge pickup getting him.....as well as Red.

    Homecoming

Agree, but we still had to hold them to FG attempts after getting them a short field. Those missed FG's we're real momentum killers for them for sure.
