This joke of a season could turn out to be a huge positive for this program if used right. This off season is a tipping point.

You are 100% right but not having an AD or a new AD could break it.  The coaches need to pull together....

A few assistants should be gone. Things should change. Belts tightened. Complacency eliminated. He has next year to convince me the last three were a trend and this one was an anomaly and not the other way around. The problem is this season should have never gotten out of hand the way it did. That starts with Bubba. He needs to set the tone day one this off season.

Doing random drug screens, if they were done, is a BIG problem and Bubba needs support ABOVE him to handle it. Once that behavior is allowed, or not corrected with a firm fist, other problems will follow (have they already?).  Complacency needs to be eliminated and everyone needs to be firm and on the same page.  I agree with geaux_sioux but that is a steep hill to climb and with no AD, or a new one, it will be hard.  Good luck to Bubba. He needs our support....

  3. Year 4 of Bubba ball... I really thought this would be turned around but there seems to be off-field issues that need to be taken care of.  I wanted to hear "And tackled by the whole Sioux defense" this year. I hope whatever needs to be done in the off season gets done.  Hope the coaches can turn this around.

Years ago we had a young person apply for a public administration position.  People voiced concerns about no experience.  My response was if you hire someone with 15 years of experience, but could lack the innate skills to do the job, in 5 years you will have a person with 20 years of experience.  If you hire someone with minimal experience, but the innate skills to do the job, in 5 years you will have a darn good employee.  Maybe we need to re-focus but I sure don't have suggestions. Too bad this ended on a rather sour note...

    GO UND

Kill was the heart and soul of that Gopher operation.  Claeys and Limegrover aren't exactly lighting the world on fire.

I loved Kill...Gophers lost a lot when he resigned.

  5. "Opinions are great but when someone's child is being belittled by a posser, that's where I draw the line.  (Yes, I understand they are under scholarship, doesn't matter).  Pick on the coaches all you want but keep your distance saying something around their wives or mothers."

    Ditto

Even trashing coaches get old.  There are reasons for the calls and coaching decisions.  I don't always  get the finer points of football and many know more than I do but continued, overt criticism pulls down the whole program.  This is year 4 of Bubba ball and I thought there would be a major change by now. There are reasons not known to us if that has not happened.  So, maybe we take a deep breath and focus on the next game.  Then people in decision-making positions will need to make decisions.

Family should never be part of this.

That's exactly why you hire a search firm, North Dakota open record laws prevent the behind the scenes contact to potential candidates.

Sorry, I have been on both sides of this type of process.  A search firm is just a place to put blame 3 to 5 years down the road.  People are paid, appointed, or elected to do this!

These firms cost lots of money.  I mean, a vacancy is barely announced publicly and they are knocking at your door.

Not sure these laws are "enforceable" and would be very costly to try it.....plus anyone making that type of accusation is basically black balled. It takes a big name/group to try this.

Need someone with a good work ethic to interview prospects and then the "gonadal fortitude" to follow through! Has anyone mentioned a FEMALE AD, just asking!

I swear to God if we fall into the same unaggressive bull$%!# that has gotten us killed this year I will lose my mind. Rudy needs to ask his wife to open her purse and hand him back his balls for the remainder of the 4th quarter. We need to build momentum to the next two games and going into the off season.

I often think this about elected officials.....but the wives don't come to the meetings.... where would you look then?

I'm going to contradict the last two sentences of your post.  The legislature gives us damb near twice the money or funding as su if you include the Med school and the 30 million from the student loan trust account.  Being able to tap the student loan trust fund displays how the legislature is  willing to go above and beyond for this system and that has always been and will continue to be.   Because of this there will be growth, but not to 20000 students. There is a lot of love in Bismarck for UND

The quality of UND health care programs, all of them, speaks for itself.  Just talking to am alum, who I have known for a long time. Did not know she went to UND for PT.  The 'immediate family" has 5/6 alum and all their children, now high school age, are coming to UND for campus visits. Enough said!

I thought the FB game was just filler between VB in the morning and hockey at night on Saturday!  ;)

Mama Sue here...have not signed in  for a while but read the papers....Sioux looking up

BUT, royally ticked that the Gopher-Sioux ( no name change for me) hockey game is not televised....now I know the reason, from the highest source, but still. What goes?  I am trying to get this on-line video going but can't get it. So, not a happy camper. I would have done some search for a bar playing the game and driven there....just sayn'

    Good Luck tomorrow

  10. Well, being in health care I have a very nice collection of bedpans and urinals!!!  Many are antique, ceramic, and different colors.  I do not plan to sell or rent any but I'm just saying, there are options!   It amazes me what is now newsworthy in our society!  I wish Wentz luck in his professional career but this is not such a great start!

  11. Well, maybe if UND had former players in the NFL, this thread would survive without talk about former Bison...

Nasty...do you have PMS? Stick to Sioux and congratulations on this  Wentz kid

It's true - I was in Arizona this Weekend and ran into numerous people talking FB and draft and very few even talking about Hockey = the Phoenix paper never showed ANY of the Hockey scores and it's to go to the Frozen Four??

Well I was in ND this weekend and saw MANY Fighting Sioux Hockey jerseys....also when I watched the game on TV. I would say the Fighting Sioux out numbered North Dakota 2:1.  Hockey is not in the DNA of people in AZ like it is up here.

    Go Sioux!

Can't wait for football to start either.  Since I will be retired by the start of the 2016 season, I will not have to clean and do laundry on Saturdays!!!

The greatest blasphemy is associating my name with this thread.   I never once implied that Wentz was comparable to Christ and feel it is in horrible taste to have me listed as the starter of this thread with the comparison of Carson Wentz to Christ.   I am therefore demanding my name be removed as the starter of these moved posts and really, the comparison to Jesus is in bad taste, especially on Easter.

I agree...didn't the Beatles get into trouble stating about the same?

  14. I read somewhere he has trouble farting in cold weather.

I would think a ND kids would have no trouble farting in cold weather.  I hope it doesn't hurt his draft stock to much

Basically, I would say that weather does not anatomically affect one's ability to fart but then I have never been in an NFL locker room

Word around the Twin Cities is that the Gophers don't even look at in-state players for the DBs and skill positions. They generally go south for those recruits, with a few exceptions of course, and look mostly at O and D linemen in the state. That may not be the new coaching regime's stance, but we really won't know until a year or two from now.

The Gophers have recruited out of state illiterate, or low literacy, athletes since I have been married (mostly football and basketball). I know very few quality high school athletes who aspire to go there. When one does, it is like BIG news.  I really feel bad for what has become of mostly football and hockey.  The Golden Gophers were quality athletes you could teach your sons to look up to.  Now they can not talk a complete sentence when interviewed on TV. Several years ago I thought,  "My education dollars are paying for scholarships for these young men?"  When we came to recruiting weekend at UND we were told on Tues. and Thurs. football practice was in the library until mid-terms came out. If you were 3.0 or above, you went to the outdoor field to practice.

Again, all of my children could have gone to UND and I would have been a happy mama.
