  1. I dont even no why the cops would put them in the back of cop cars anyways. For all my minors all i did was blow, they wrote me a ticket dumped out my beer i ahd in hand and sent me on my way. Only one kid i ever known got put in a cope car for a minorw as cuz he ran fro eh cops.

I suspect you're in the middle of consumption right now with a post like that! My head hurts.....

  2. You are missing the point. There are laws like traffic violations that result in fines. They are technically not crimes. If you get a speeding ticket, you probably should not be suspended, although technically you have broken the "law" as there are statutes and ordinances that prohibit speeding. Alcohol related offenses like minor in possession are also not crimes, unless they involved driving or the like (DUI's are a misdemeanor). Misdemeanors are crimes, but are not serious and usually only involve fines. Felonies are typically punishable by imprisonment. This is an oversimplification, but you should get the point.

The point is that we all break "laws" every day, such as speeding or jaywalking. There may be a fine or other consequence, but suspension from team sports should really not be an option. This offense is much closer to a speeding ticket and does not deserve a suspension. That is not to say it is "ignored." The consequences are the fine and the record, as well as what the coach decides for violation of team rules. However, this really isn't a big deal.

I confess. I pissed down a gopher hole the other day. Will I be fined for public urination or could I be busted for animal cruelty too?

  3. It should be handled the same way Lucia handled the Blarney underage drinking scandal....do nothing.

What concerns me is the consequences suffered as a result of an off-ice distraction. We've all waited the entire season to see our boys perform up to their capability and give us optimism heading into post season, and then this crap happens!

    I hope it doesn't de-rail our momentum.

  4. BINGO. I smell a rat folks. A big, fat, hairy, nasty, s&!t-eating rat. As for WDAZ I would like to say a big f$%k you for the waaaaaaaaaaaaay blown out of proportion news report. To all of the two faced fans, remember what you say about these guys now, when you are standing in line to get a picture with them and have your jersey signed, freakin' bull$%!#.

must have been a Potulny in there Sunday night!

  5. Guess it all depends on what we lose on D in the off season if any. Right now, IMHO the only early departure risk I see is Chorney. The only for sure is Foyt. Not alot of room for defense unless Radke & Genoway move to forward.

  6. was was the outcome last year in gopherland, i forgot? or was it two years ago we played there last?

last year we split winning 4-2 on Sat after getting hammered 6-1 the night before. Lammy was in net for the win and it was arguably his best game as a Fighting Sioux.

  7. Anybody up for actually discussing the upcoming series? I did a little research. The last time the Gophers swept UND in Mariucci was Nov 8 & 9 of 1996. UND has not swept the Gophers in Mariucci but they did get 3 out of 4 points Nov. 11 & 12 of 2000. I would think that if UND was to get 3 points this weekend they would be elated. The last 6 years these teams split in Mariucci. I see the same for this weekend

Here is how I see it:

UND--Starting to build momentum and gain some confidence after some recent victories. From what I have read the DOT line is absolutely dominate. They are going to have to make things happen, force turnovers for odd-man rushes. UND's PP is pretty damn good. If UND can score on the PP they have a legit chance to take this series. Also, their defensemen need to play a strong physical game. Obviously goaltending is always the key. In said winning streak UND has given up an average of 1.08 goals/game which if that continues UND will take all 4 points this weekend.

Minnesota--This team has shown that it can win a high-flying up tempo game as well as a grind-it-out game. Typically both of these teams like to play a very fast, speedy up-tempo game. IMO, this plays right into what the Gophers want to do. The PP has come back to form last weekend after an 0for23 stretch. I think the key is to shut down the vaunted DOT line and limit the shots on goal to around 25-30 range. If the Gophers can do that and stay out of the penalty box 3or 4 points should be attainable. Finally, our goaltending needs to be sharp as a tack this weekend.

I do think this is a very vital series for both teams. If the Gophers sweep along with a SCSU/DU split, the Gophers will extend their lead in the WCHA race. For UND, if they sweep it will absolutly 100% springboad them for the remainder of the season. However, if they get swept then the likelyhood of them on the road for the 1st round of WCHA playoffs is a possibility. 2 Points would work but Wisconsin still has 1 more series to play.

Anyway good luck to both teams. Play hard play fast play physical play hockey they way it is meant to be.

Good luck to fans of both teams. Have fun but behave yourself and I don't want to hear any stories on the a-hole d-bag fans of both team's misbehaving. It is just a game for crying oooooot loud

the stat of 11 years since Mn swept UND at home scares me....

  8. I still don't understand the draw of going over to some other team's forums. I could care less about Holy Cross hockey or even Minnesota hockey. I care about Sioux hockey, and thus I am here. Can someone explain what I do not currently understand?

it's simply a passion for hockey

  9. Considering the circumstances, 1 point might be considered a tall task. But with the Badgers and Pioneers each getting a win vs. the Gophers the past two weeks, that gives us some reason for optimism I think.

I'm afraid Elliott and Fisher are a little better than Phil. I suspect the gophers will get 30-35 shots on us. PL will need his best game to hold Mn to 3 goals and we'll probably need to score at least 4 on their defense. He did it last year so there's is reason for optimism. However, I think Mn will be emotionally charged after what happen to them in Grand Forks last March. We need to stay out of the box. Mn is always better on the power play than the rest of the league and this year is no different. I just hope the games are close enough to give us a chance to win.

  10. I hope Erick Johnson touches lammy when finley is on the ice. Everyone on GPL is sayin how EJ this and Ej that. Or what wold even be more funny would be finley hammering on lucia's son.

Finley? Please. At best he would probably help EJ up, brush off his sweater and escort him back to their bench. Robbie Bina hits harder than our pylon. The only thing missing from his uniform is pink tape on his stick. He may be 6'7" and 250 lbs, but he's really nothing more than a pussy. My money is on Radke or Kaip.

Please prove me wrong this weekend big Joe.

  11. Looks like things are coming together for an expansion to hockey in Fargo. Originally the cost was to be around 40 Million Dollars, that has since been reduced to around 34 Million. They are going to be built just north of 32nd Avenue & just west of 45th Street. The main arena will seat 4900 people and have 40 Luxury Suites, the main youth arena will seat 2200 and the other 3 youth rinks will hold 800 each. The cost of the main arena will be around 20 Million...the people behind the project have been working with NDSU to no avail...they would have went to a 7500 to 8000 seat rink if NDSU would have been interested. They are working with a couple different USHL teams, for now the Jets team looks like it will be going into a very nice facuility.

The youth rinks are projected to be done in October of 2008, with the main arena projected for October of 2009. I think it's fantastic that people have visions for the future. I know Fargo has never been noted for being a hockey town, but with this project I think things look very bright for the future of hockey in Fargo.

PS No matter what...I will always be a UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX FAN.

I for one hope this venture succeeds, but by your directions, I assume you are describing the plot of land directly south of Famous Daves. That area is being developed now as retail and medical. Seems unlikely that the land available is sufficient in size for the scale of this project.

  12. Those MTU games were a killer for BSU's at large NCAA bid possibilities. BSU needs to sweep the Sioux or plan on winning their conference tourney dogfight to make the tourney.

I highly doubt an at large bid will go to a CHA team. BSU needs to win the CHA to get in. Right now they're a TUC team for North Dakota which improves their PWR with a sweep. We definitely need this more than they do but regardless, I suspect both games will be close.

  13. Yeah, well, that's been well documented here. I thought it wouldn't hurt to throw out some positives for all you Negative-Nellies.

Sorry, I missed the disclaimer stating constructive criticism was forbidden. That being said, I suspect Negative-Nellies and Homers are at opposite ends of the spectrum. I find myself somewhere in the middle, dare I say... a realist?
