  1. I am going to let the chips fall where they land. UND is very capable of beating any of the teams in the tourney. They also could be beat... No clue how this one ends. There's some similar comparisons that seem to 1997, but also 2000, but also to last year's NCAA champion Yale. Like told my brother-in-law, the team has already over achieved a bit this season. Anything is a bonus right now.

just seems to me that minn always thinks that they go pee pee in a better pot than everyone else. I guess that arrogance is what irritates me about them. I dont feel that way about any other team though

  2. I would, except my blood pressure goes through the roof whenever I read all the garbage posted on that forum.

i couldnt handle the absolute arrogance of the posters, they talk like them winning against us is a foregone conclussion kind of like nanny not even talking about how the rodents match up against us but how they match up sgainst bc or union. Like theyve already won. Very irritating
  3. This is the position that was weak before with stud teams, not only a little shakey on UND's end, but stellar from the team that was supposed to lose to UND! The goalie won the game!

This is what makes me excited about the FF!

if you look at all 7 nattys the one thing they all have in common is a stellar goaltender. I see goth winnin multiple nattys before hes gone. Thats how good i believe he is especially under pressure
  4. Just my opinion, but Gothberg's inconsistency is largely a thing of the past. I'm sure there are numbers to back it up, but I don't have time to track them down right now. He has stolen games all year long, from the trip to Western Michigan, where he pilfered six points, to last Saturday. Has he let in the occasional soft goal? Yes, as even the best goalies do from time to time. But it is not regular anymore. What is a regular occurence is letting in very few goals, stopping the easy ones and the hard ones, and giving his team a chance to win.

I think he's closing in on the transtition from good to great goalie.

very well articulated, goth is 3-0 in ncaa play soon to be 5-0, beat two hobey nom. Goalies and about to beat a third hobey nom. Goalie, not too shabby
  5. Heart won't get you much. Look at Robert Morris. They had plenty of heart but didn't make it. I am curious as to what makes Wilcox , the Hobey finalist (who we all know won't likely win but he's still in the final 10), inferior in your opinion. If it was any other team than UND maybe you'd have an argument about expecting to win by showing up. That's the theory about what happened in the B1G. But obviously it didn't happen at the regionals and this is the frozen 4. Everyone should know nothing at this point is easy.

i honestly believe goth is better, wilcox is good dont get me wrong. Our forwards are better than people think, we are fast, i think our speed surprises teams. Like you say heart only gets you so far
  6. The kool aide is strong with this one. Get over it, we don't have very good forwards. It's just how it is. They get the job done but rely on strong defense and there's no way around that. They just don't score very much.

thats just my opinion no kool aid intended
  7. Everybody appears to be. Lot of overly defensive and antagonistic posters today. Must've been the storm.....

from now on i will try to direct any future condescending comments to the rodents. Sorry oxbow
  8. why r u angry today

not angry guess just frustrated at people selling this team short, the reason we are in the f4 is obviously because we are one of the most talented teams in the country. Sorry about being condescending in my comment. I just think these kids deserve to be given more credit than just calling them overachievers imho

  9. I guess I stand corrected. Forgot about all the scoring we had coming back and the experience on the blue line.

i guess im the one who stands corrected obviously this team has no talent do they, make sure you give them no credit
  10. Some teams overachieve...some underachieve. UND's program is no different. I'll give Hak is full due...IMO this team overachieved regardless of next Thursday.

this team has not overachieved, did anyone see goth put the fargo force on his shoulders and carry the team, this team is capable of even more than what they have shown. This team is built specificially to win in the ncaa tourn, give the team its due theyve underachieving in my eyes i think they are capable of even more
  11. Why is it that all of the hockey coach supporters are lumped in as "lifetime contract" Kool-Aid drinkers who kneel daily and pray to Dave Hakstol bobbleheads? I just don't get that...

to me jerry york is the only coach that has excelled during haks tenure, york figured out college hockeys transition early And everyone else is now playing catch up.
  12. Exactly, look back to when they blew out Miami, they were taking quick one times and getting good traffic in front of the net. Havn't seen many one time shots from the D recently, they get the puck and hold it until someone it right in their face. Hope they can make some of the small changes before next week. AND get healthy, heal up the guys so every can give their all.

low shots on wilcox and crash the net hard he gives up juicy rebounds on low shots. Gopher d will push our forwards into wilcox and get him off his game. Rumple never did get on his game after chyzyk got pushed into him.
  13. ever since i saw goth play for the force in their playoff run i knew goth could put a team on his back and carry them, our d is as mobile and talented as they come which is what playing defebse in college is all about these days, the days of the lumbering defenseman are bygone. Our forwards are quick and fast, the only forward in recent memory who was as fast as rocco in my mind was toews and look where he is. Cagguila can walk anyone in college hockey, parks mac gaarder rodwell pattyn will come up with the puck in the corner 9 times out of 10. Were not a top line heavy team that can be shut down and stopped and hats off to hak and his staff for the job theyve done putting this team together. This is a different kind of talented sioux team. Top to bottom talent and that is what now wins championships ala bc.

hak was never a bad coach, he was caught in the transition of college hockey in the ncaa tourney but now has adapted well. I believe jerry york was the first to recognize the change in the college hockey landscape and has the success to show for it.

  14. I think the goal tending and d is phenomenal especially considering how many fr d men have looked like vets lately. We just have a bunch of lunch pale forwards. Grimaldi has top talent but outside of him nobody jumps off the screen. They are all pretty responsible defensively and clearly have things rolling right now. Like Yale last year you just need to work hard and get a few bounces and you can hang a banner.

ever since i saw goth play for the force in their playoff run i knew goth could put a team on his back and carry them, our d is as mobile and talented as they come which is what playing defebse in college is all about these days, the days of the lumbering defenseman are bygone. 15. This team is nowhere near as talented as most UND teams of the past decade.

as time goes by after the season i think people will begin to appreciate the depth and caliber of talent on this team. Right now i believe it is a case of not being able to see the forest through the trees. Imho
  16. The same Lucia that was saying this rivalry is unhealthy and the rivalry needs a break is now telling the media that this game is good for college hockey when we aren't even a year removed from the rivalry. If he were a politician he would be considered the biggest flip-flopper ever.

when lucia was coaching the world junior team this year he was being interviewed between periods and the u s was losing and getting outplayed badly and about to be eliminated by i forget who they were playing but lucia says i like the way were playing and were just going to stick to our gameplan no changes. Needless to say u s got eliminated. Minn will do ok as long as all voes well from the start and continues. In game adjustments are a weakness of lucia. A few years ago i would have said the same about hak. But what a coach hak has become this year. Dont know why or how but hak has shined as a coach this year. Keep it up hak and we might get #8 this year
  17. It's their best team ever also. Ours not so much.

i disagree this is one of the most talented teams weve had in a while top to bottom were strong from the net out, the rodents are already looking past the sioux saying they got the easier draw (nanny). Gophers have a solid team too but the difference is we have way more heart, the rodents expect to win just by showing up and were gonna put a 2 spot on them before they know what hit them, wilcox is inferior to goth in my opinion.
  18. UMass-Lowell was a juggernaut last year...Yale absolutely skated circles around them and it STILL took an overtime goal to win it for the Bulldogs. Then, with 6-2, 4-1, and 3-0 losses against Quinnipiac already last season staring them in the face, Yale goes out and crushes the Q-cats 4-0.

Believing you can do it is the first step in achieving the goal. And as crazy as it sounds, this North Dakota team started believing in itself the moment a Wisconsin puck went into the back of Ohio State's net just over a week ago. They believe. It's time some folks believe in the dream along with them.

agree completely, i would cut my tounge out before i ever picked the rodents to beat the sioux. Ive been a sioux fan since i can remember having memories. Shame on those of you who disbelieve in this team. In goth we trust.
  19. The one thought that keeps sticking in my mind is that this Sioux team is now playing with almost the same passion and commitment that Yale showed in the regional at Grand Rapids last spring. Not quite to that level but getting close.

I hope we get a chance to stick it to the gophers this year like yale did last year.
  20. st cloud seems top heavy and they've only got 2 defense that are mobile. und exposed them very well in the 2nd. when und uses the 5 man cycle and the d pinches down back door they are very hard to defend. when you have d that leads the line rush that's very impressive and very tough to defend. (ala boston college)
