  1. north Dakota fans need to start being fans in Grand Forks. Pathetic effort last night by the crowd.

some of us tried ;) Driving back to Fargo last night, we were comparing who had the most swollen palms from clapping. Since I actually drew blood, I declared myself the winner, lol! Now to rest them up for the TC...
  2. ^^ Fargo Play It Again gets them, too, but were sold out last time I went in to get my skates sharpened. They only had some uglyassed maroon ones left at that time.

  3. Don't know much about SD hockey here but anyone good enough to get a look at? Or do most need a year or two of juniors before colleges start looking, granted most HS hockey players need at least a year?

Spurred a question for me (I agree with you, by the way): I wonder what percentage of college players played juniors prior to being freshmen in 2013, and how that compares to 5 or 10 years ago? I watch a lot of USHL and it seems a vast majority of everyone who makes that league is going to college or MJ after a year or two (or three), and it reflects in the rosters of most schools in our conference, and geographical area. I don't dig into a lot of the east coast rosters before the regionals, to see where those kids come from, so I don't know if location changes things.

  4. Simonson was in Fargo last Sat and Sunday against the Force. He opened his team's scoring both nights, but honestly I didn't notice him a lot during the middle of games. Cheering for the opposition can certainly do that for you, though. Plus, I watched most of Saturday's game from the glass at one end of the ice, which, while exciting, makes it tougher to pick out the little things that a player is doing.

  5. Christian Evers gets a -2 rating in a loss to Indiana. Ryan Mantha gets the same for his Indiana team.

Christian Cakebread doesnt play tonight. Does anyone know the his status?

John Simonson gets another goal and assist in the win versus Fargo.

Chris Wilkie takes 3 shots and took a penalty.

Nick Schmaltz has a -1 rating with 4 shots he also took a penalty.

He was on hand Sunday in a suit and tie. Foot still wrapped like Saturday night and still on crutches. I didn't get to speak to him to see how the x-rays came back.
  6. Don't necessarily disagree, but worth burning his redshirt over?

School me on redshirting? I thought his being in uniform and available to play, as well as being rostered (he's listed as a scratch on road games, for instance), that he already couldn't be a redshirt, but I do not claim to know that rule.
  7. I wouldn't call it worrisome at this point because Fargo is trying to trade everyone. Fire sale. You see this a lot with the teams that are really bad and not making the playoffs. Tri-City traded a crap load of players over the last few weeks as well. It'd be more worrisome if he was traded from a team that was good twice in a month IMO.

I only posed the question because Fargo just acquired him. Usually if you trade for someone, you try to keep them around a while. You're likely correct about the fire sale, though, and as soon as someone made a decent offer for him, off he went again.

Love this get only have heard great things about him. Do you know what USHL team he would go to?

He'll be drafted, if he hasn't been already, and could end up about anywhere. New USHL team in Madison WI next season, so there'll be noticeable player movement for the expansion. A Mr. Hockey candidate is also an appetizing pick for a new franchise like them.

  8. The first stop from the MOA is a good one because you don't have to deal with the mall traffic and other cars in the ramp.

    Agreed on that stop.

That half hour ride back from downtown always kills me, though. I've fallen asleep on more than one occasion - not the best thing to do on the train late at night - so I suggest making sure you and your travel companion(s) grab some coffee for the ride!

  9. Do you honestly believe that a regular season hockey game in Grand Forks could draw almost 50K like the Gophers did last week?

Let's be honest here, it was an outdoor game, which is currently a hot event. It drew a lot of people who love hockey and didn't care who won, and a lot of people who just wanted to be part of the event, even though they don't give two licks about hockey.

  10. If you're referring to in the morning, you have Hell's Kitchen(might want to make a res), The Local has a good brunch buffet, Key's Cafe has some solid omelettes and lastly Devil's Advocate has Bottomless Mimosas for $6 if you're looking for an early buzz to start the day. They're all about 5-6 blocks from the Target Center.

Depending on where your hotel is, add 8th Street Grill to the list - just make sure they're serving that morning. Also, the breakfast burger at Kieran's, across the street from the TC, is awesome if you get there on the brunch menu.
