  1. Anyone catch John Hill's (gopher assistant coach) interview after the game? (Don Lucifer was too good to be interviewed I guess)

This guy was full of excuses about the team being young, the team being tired from the World Juniors, the gravitational pull of the moon on 1-27-07, etc.

How about the 3 Sioux players who were in Sweden at the WJC? How about how young the Fighting Sioux are? Anyhow, I just thought it was typical UMN-TC propaganda when Hill was interviewed. You got beat, admit it like a man. Nice tie too, I think all he was missing was the red nose and the flower that squirts water.

    Sweep!

Yeah the asst must be SCHOOLED ON HOMEICE's cousin....what an azz clown :glare:

  2. What a weekend by the Fighting Sioux. Finally, we are playing the way we should be. The Sioux were the better team this weekend, it wasn't even close 5x5. Keep it up boys!

BINGO! Those clowns can't skate with us 5 on 5. If we would have stayed out of the box the score likely would have been higher. :glare:

  3. My wife and I will be at Stubs both tonight and tomorrow and at the John's doors when they open at 6:00

I went to Stumps last year - prefer the atmosphere at Suzies a little better pre-game. Would be nice if they had adequate parking in dirtytown don't you think?

  4. Let see a show of hands on who will be in attendance at the Gopher dump tonight. I'll be mixing up a few libations at Suzies before the puck drop. Hope to see some fellow greens roaming around.

  5. Dude you make me laugh...the #2 thread on GPL forum right now is how dead your dump was during this past week's series against Denver. #1 vs #5 and your crowd couldn't get up for that? Come on...please.....get off your horse. You calling our building a morgue is laughable because we don't have a mascot or ludicrous chants such as the alphabet spelling bee you call a "rouser"?

  6. name='FIRE HELMET GUY #26' post='219853' date='Jan 23 2007, 08:23 AM']Serious question here, because I have been up there and have casually asked some Sioux fans and they have agreed, do any of you folks think the Ralph is a little Like I said the Ralph is AWESOME to look at but I could take a nap during the games. There is not an "electric atmospher" at all. I have been to the National Concrete Center to watch scsu, and while the have a small capacity, the entire crowd seems to be roaring along with the student section. Same thing goes for Mariucci. I know it is very very corporate but there are plenty of varying chants which are screamed. Such as the "Never Were" when the Gophers kill a penalty and go back to full strengh, or the "That's debatle" when the opposition becomes full strength, or "The Rouser" after the Gophers score a goal--you get about 9500 people screaming MINNESOTA. Hell look at the Kohl Center. There are about 10 people in entire state of Wisconsin that know a lick about hockey. But that crowd is absolutely 100% into the game. They scream and they chant the entire game and the atmosphere is 2nd to none.

  7. Great point, and I agree with you.

personally speaking - I would be very pleased with 2 pts from this weekends series. A while ago UMtc looked unbeatable...now they are becoming a little more mortal.

  8. Actually, yes, I'd agree with that statement. But the truth is, I don't care. It's a wonderful facility and an amazingly genourous gift to UND and Grand Forks. I don't have a clue what its economic impact has meant to the community, but it is no doubt considerable. Plus, it has helped put Grand Forks on the map nationally and internationally.

Most people never see the best parts of the arena: the training area, the rehab facilities, the locker room and players' lounge and study area. When you walk through those parts of the arena and see the emphasis on Fighting Sioux hockey tradition and winning, it's not difficult to imagine their effect on potential recruits.

So while I might not agree with all the design decisions, there's no way that I can be critical of what Ralph Engelstad did for UND and Grand Forks.

Damn!! that was well stated

  9. Kind of like the Goofs football, Twins and Vikings - all envious of what others have with regard to facilities.

To that point I have even seen a couple of GPL'ers with the Ralph picture in effigy as their avatar. If that isn't arena envy I don't know what is.

  10. Dude I'm still cracking up about the bike post.....! That UofMtc ride looks like what Lloyd Christmas pulled up on in Dumb and Dumber when he got back from getting the "bare essentials". (pin wheel, foam hat etc)
