UND Fighting Hawks Versus SDSU Saturday November 22nd
Wildfan replied to Und Princess's topic in Football
believe someone at some point indicated a broken bone in his foot. Doesn't appear to be wearing an ankle brace or ankle tape, so would assume that it was not ankle related and more in the foot. Also could potentially be why he was practicing in a more athletic style shoe then typical turf cleat/shoe. But not sure what he typically wears and some of the turf cleat/shoes have started to resemble regular athletic shoes now anyway -
UND Fighting Hawks Versus SDSU Saturday November 22nd

Herd made it sound like from his perspective that ISU took their foot off the gas and just played conservative no turnover play calling to protect the lead. But also that could just be what it appeared like. The first 28 points ISU didn't have to go far with short field or defensive TD. -
Download the Browser-App. https://browser-app.com/ . You log in on the browser version, but it auto detects if you have a capable streaming device (with the app also installed on it?) and casts it to it. Some other browser based sports stream sites work wonders on it ;). To work with Roku I used Web Video Caster. They have a roku app, but also need the Web Video Caster android app for that one.

They did nothing else, lost 35-21. They are 7-4. With 4 FCS losses. ISU is in at 8-3 currently. 2 FCS losses. SIU is out at 6-5 current, only 5 D1 wins. UND currently 7-4, 3 FCS losses. UND locked in a top 4 MVFC. If they get a win they are 3rd, if they lose, only ISU can pass them with a win. If any 5 loss team makes it in, it certainly would be UND, but thats only if they decide to expand to 5 loss. They have 7 FCS wins, 4 FCS losses. Combined 14 point defeceit in games they lost, (-3 @ FBS KState, -1 @ #2/3 Montana, -5 @ Top 10/15 USD, -5 vs #1 NDSU). Either way just don't lose to SDSU.
-
SDSU has attempted a little bit of a push back now down 35-21 but they haven't gotten much in last few possessions. They have the ball after a blocked FG now with 3:30 left they have the ball now in ISU territory but still have to get 2 TDS.

One of the things that the UND radio was saying is how last few weeks he has been staring down his primary receiver. He spread the catches around in the 1st half of the season. Now he is making it easier for coverage to read his eyes, and he is trying to force things into coverage instead of any check downs. Like the opposite of QBs of the past who just went to the check downs all the time. Also not sure why we keep running the RB out behind the LOS and throwing a dart at his head that has seemed to not work more than it has been productive. He isn't hitting him in stride like a swing pass, seems half the time SS is back peddling trying to grab the ball that is either in line with him or behind him.
-
How ready will he be not having played for 6 weeks or so? Also they weren't doing great offensively before he went down. Their Defense much like UND held up long enough for Offense to get productive somewhat. They also have some WRs and OL down I thought I have read. But their Defense have been lethargic last 5 weeks.

Reminds me of the UND-USD OT game from 2016.

North Dakota State 7-0 1.000 10-0 1.000 4-0 6-0 0-0 W10 North Dakota 5-2 .714 7-4 .636 4-1 3-3 0-0 W1 South Dakota 5-2 .714 7-4 .636 5-1 2-3 0-0 W2 Illinois State 4-2 .667 7-3 .700 3-2 4-1 0-0 W3 Youngstown State 4-3 .571 7-4 .636 5-1 2-3 0-0 W2 South Dakota State 3-3 .500 7-3 .700 4-2 3-1 0-0 L3 Southern Illinois 3-3 .500 6-4 .600 3-1 3-3 0-0 L1 This is the current standings including completed games as of this post. a SIU loss would make them 6-5, best they can get is 7-5 and that would be 4-4 in conference. Youngstown State path to 8-4 looks the easiest with UNI left. SIU and Ill State will play each other next week. If score against SDSU holds right now than Ill State will be locked with 8 wins, no matter the outcome next week. SDSU vs UND will be interesting. We know that UND does not get any preference from the committee in the past, and Chaves is the MVFC rep, so I believe he has to remove himself from any conversation around UND. But a 7 D1 win MVFC with a 5-3 in conference and potentially #1 SOS should get in. 8 win is auto. SDSU will get the benefit of injured QB if they end up 7-5. on a long losing streak.

but there is at the 20 yard line supposedly that TV doesn't have...
-
Alot of the media thinks that USD is already a lock with their 7 wins and 2 top 10/15 wins. SIU loss probably knocks them out even though they can still get to 7 wins, that would put them at 4-4 in the conference.
-
on 4th down next possession, punter dropped the snapped, and turnover on downs ISU now has the ball at SDSU 25.
-
21-0 ISU with 10:29 remaining in the 1st quarter.
-
SDSU is down 14-0 early and Illinois state now has the ball again at the SDSU 4 yd line not even 5 minutes into the game. ISU scored first possession, scored defensive touchdown on a turnover, and SDSU just muffed the kickoff recovered by ISU.
-
They need to have someone turn off the audio on their replays.
-
Pretty sure they did for one year (2016?) with Bubba. Atleast them opening the door to the locker room to seeing them walk out, not sure if it followed them completely, or just the door opening and them starting to come out then switched to video before switching back to them being at the entrance to run onto the field.

I don't think so since the OC has not had a complete game plan that has worked and keeps going away from things that are working. Like 3 straight passes when you have opportunity to eat clock with the lead after a big stop and then turn the ball back over, or 3 passes from the 2, when the previous TD was a easy 2 yard run for SS. There have been times of designed runs by Jerry have been head scratchers when they have the RBs that they have consistently getting more yards. The best runs by Jerry are either when he decides to go after coverage allows on a called pass play, or when he been extending the field with the pass that opened up on RPO, until late in the game the RPO wasn't doing anything each time he kept it.

Like not having JTJ on sideline ready to go changed his mentality or something. This week think he had some definitely bad passes that were better placed prior, some past weeks I thought there was more drops on well placed balls. The 2ints today the type of throw should've been the type he threw on the other one. The last INT looked short and looked like he was trying to place it where wr could dive and catch it but the DB had excellent inside position with help from the turf to int it and WR was not cleared enough of him for that. The softer over the top drop in could've worked on that one as there was no safety help. More back corner of the end zone. Also wouldve preferred the wide open guy crossing the middle of the field that would've cut the distance in half, could've probably gotten out of bounds to give 2 attempts from much closer. The other INT he threw it way to soft on a lob play, possibly still under thrown but gave plenty of time for the safety that was in vincinity over the top to get it. The bullet he threw later in the game to split 2 dbs would've been money.

It's possible that end of year a 7-5 (4 FCS losses) or 8-4 (3 FCS losses) at the end of the year with 2 of those losses to 1 & 2 seed by a combined 6 points. Even if Mont State beat Montana then it's 1&4 seeds. The tough bullet to bit is UND 4 loses so far is a combined 14 points. Each of those games had the lead or chance to take the lead under 5 min left in the 4th.

Outside of Havard and NDSU the top 25 have been leaky the last 2 weeks.
-
Only thing I can think is due to him having forward motion, to me it looked like it was caught either at the spot he tossed it or slightly behind, not sure what they had enough to overturn it. Had to of used the far end zone camera for an angle like the BU hockey game.
-
SDSU looks like a must win but it shouldn't really matter as UND should win easily vs Murray St. Which would leave it with 4 FCS losses. Traditionally the president is the FBS loss doesn't count against at selection time, but also the FBS win did not help with 4 FCS losses in year past either. SDSU has a worse offense than NDSU by far, they may have Chase Mason back at that point but even with him they have struggled.
-
Definitely looked to bounce off the turf on replay. But whatever, again we lost the game. So many chances that we failed on. Have to look back to that very dumb series of the 1st and goal from the 2. That missed FG looks large too as it could've been a 3 point game, forcing a chance to tie with a FG instead of forcing having to get a TD. I say 3 to tie as I would think NDSU would've went for XP instead of 2pt on last TD.
-
Under threw it, great play on the coverage, but should've been placed into the end zone. Receiver also did not have outside position that one needed to go over the top.
