Idaho pays annual dues to the Sun Belt of $100,000. Critics have said the Sun Belt would lose out monetarily by dividing the G5 pool with another league. But if the other 13 Big Sky teams have to pay in a 100G for 2 years, that's $2.6 M for the Sun Belt. If only 8 move to the Sun Belt for two years, but are charged $250 k annually for the privilege of becoming FBS, thats $4 mill the Sun Belt would pocket, more the compensating it for the loss of G5 revenue. Plus the Sun Belt never encountered an extra FBS league like the MVC, CAA, or WAC Southeast infringing on its territory. The Sun Belt didn't like the MVC FBS because it saw schools like Mo St and NMSU as being potentially theirs. An MVC FBS could have also taken a Sam Houston or Lamar or Texas St, something the Sun Belt did not want. Texas was Sun Belt territory, not MVC. So the Sun Belt offered Idaho and NMSU spots, and in return the WAC quit prostituting itself out to FCS teams and leagues. The WAC FBS status was a very powerful bargaining chip that didn't get used but Idaho played it for all it was worth. The Big Sky doesn't threaten the Sun Belt at all, even in recruiting patterns.

Idaho is contractually obligated to the Sun Belt for football through the 2015-6 season, with a Sun Belt option for two more years (through 2017-18 season), when Idaho must report to the Big Sky as an "FCS" team. Why does an FCS team already have four FBS teams scheduled for 2018-9 and two for 2019-20? That's not typical for an FCS team. Surely the Idaho AD must be delusional. Wyoming would never ever play at an FCS school. http://www.fbschedul...aho-vandals.php

ESPN and FoxSports1 can really go to town sponsoring football games, especially late night.

The mystery of UMKC gone to the WAC from the Slummit is likely solved. UMKC got wind that the WAC MIGHT merge with the MVC for a new FBS conference, and they were scared that they would be left in a decimated Slummit (NDSU would have been needed for a FBS MVC). UMKC's goal had always been the MVC, so they switched to what they thought would be the winning side (the WAC), and thought they could get in the MVC though the merger. Didn't work out as they hoped. ORU and Oakland both had more reasons to jump ship too. MVC - WAC merger with FBS football Ind St Mo St Ill St UNI S Ill Bradley - no FB Drake - non-schol FB Creighton - no FB Wichita St - could start FB Evansville - no FB NMSU UMKC - no FB Youngstown St - new for FB NDSU - new for FB maybe SDSU - new for FB (were planning 24k seat stadium, reduced to 17 k) The Slummits lack of control football is what caused the Slummit schools to jump ship like a pack of rats.

According to bison and jack fans, the Big Sky can't wait to get rid of UND. But according to the Big Sky's own documents, the Big Sky considers Montana, Montana State, and UND to be the three key schools in the conference. Idaho's own acceptance is dependent on those three still being members, otherwise Idaho can back out of joining at no cost:
-
Is a commissioners word good enough or are they lying too? Jeff Hurd of the WAC said a midwest FCS conference offered to merge with the WAC and become an FBS conference. Denver and NMSU would have been added for sure but Idaho and later Seattle would have been tossed aside. Around the same time, UNI, Ill St, Ind St, and even Mo St were making noise about FBS. Since midwest and fcs narrow down to the MVC and MVFC, there's not much question who is was referring to. Maybe with NDSU, Youngstown St, and W Kentucky back they could have pieced together an FBS league. Probably the MVC would not have accepted SDSU, USD, and WIU because they could not have afforded it and didn't have stadiums ready. Maybe Oral Roberts was afraid football would tear apart the Slummit, so they got out while the going was good and now the coast is clear they came back. Email Jeff Hurd if you don't believe it. jhurd@wac.org Don't be a bison hind end to him, as you typically are. He's from Minot originally and he answers email.

Fullerton told UND and NDSU in 2003 that membership was not possible. They needed to go to UNC first for a media center and after that an eastern expansion was possible. Kupchella was satisfied that was the future plan. Chapman tried to wedge his way into the Big Sky, thinking his connections would get him there. He was wrong and only Chicago States incompetence saved him. UND and the Big Sky was a planned deal when UND announced DI. UND worked with Fullerton and Montana, showed a lot of patence, and didn't try to bully itself in the way Chapman did. Chapman was a regular bull in the china shop. If he had any patence, UND and NDSU would have entered the Big Sky the same year. Instead, he forged a relationship with SDSU, convincing them to take the plunge and promising he could get them in the Sky. He and Taylor didn't want any cooperation with UND, cause they were fearful of the REA, its drawing power, and its media capability. His legacy will be what keeps NDSU out of FBS, although Taylor is also a cause.

I am sure that if the MVFC had merged with the WAC, bisonville would have been singing the Hallejuah chorus regarding this FBS conference. But the Big Sky is preposterous. Mo St Youngstown St Ind St S Ill Ill St W Ill UNI NDSU SDSU USD NMSU No true media centers anywhere in that conference. The MVFC shot its wad on a WAC takeover. The Big Sky outmanuevered the MVFC. It wasn't as if MVFC wasn't trying to pull out all stops to go FBS. The MVFC would have forced WIU, USD, and SIU to FBSI. Gene Taylor was all in favor of it. Face those facts.
-
Why did the MVC and Patty Viverito try to merge with the WAC when it was down to NMSU, Denver, and Idaho? Idaho was supposedly told to get lost, so the Vandals blocked the merger The MVC lost the game, set, and match, and got frozen out of FBS action for the MVFC. Hence, Mo St has to leave to go FBS.

That's fine. Bisonville hates me with a passion, so its nothing new. I also been a liar to them, even though what I say comes true. It was all just a diabolical plot to wipe out the Bison fan base with strokes, as they are so hot-headed.
-
In a FOIC request, some states require a statement in the request that the information may be publicly disseminated through the press or internet. I didn't do that in the emails. Bison fans are winning the 6th fan vote by the NCAA because they spend so much time casting thousands of meaningless votes. Imagine if they believed this was really an issue: they would try to stop it either through NCAA channels or spring the legislature / SBoHE in action by bombarding the Bison caucus. Its best that its kept stealth for as long as possible.
-
The Lakes faction at NDSU wants to go FBS. If UND / Big Sky with the Sun Belt even attempted it, there would be an outcry among bison fans like you have never heard. They would be all over the FCS boards and realignment boards and the SBoHE at trying to stop an FBS move by Big Sky schools, because they would be possessed by jealousy (only rivaled by their braggard ways and insecurity.) For that reason, I'm not sharing any FOIC information on this board. Bison fans are convinced I'm delusional, and that's ok, because my track record speaks for itself. If Bison fans just can't understand how UND could finance FCS, they won't fathom UND at FBS until it is too late to do anything about it.
-
An advantage of the Big Sky is that it could have a double-header football night with three time zones, or it could augment the MAC or Sun Belt 7pm ET with a 10 ET/7PT broadcast.
-
There isn't any real movement of splitting of the Super 5. A lot of talk on bisonville, but the rest of FBS would see that as a huge demotion and fight tooth and nail to prevent it. The Super 5 want stipends for athletes: otherwise it will stay the same structure.
-
Bison fans are awfully good at fabricating FBS rules. Where does it say that the SEC, Big Ten, and Pac 12 approved FBS status for Appalachian St and Ga Southern? The playoff system will set aside money for the G5. The P5 doesn't care what the G5 consists of, and would actually prefer more schools because then game guarantees go down. The Big Sky is more capable than most of the Sun Belt. Look at La-Monroe or Ga Southern. Jacksonville St, Sam Houston, and E Kentucky want FBS, and your saying the Big Sky can't!
-
All the crap because bisonville has to accept an offer from the Big Sky before it would ever have a shot at FBS. That's the bottom line. Bisonville is incensed and enraged that the Big Sky has outmaneuvered Viverito and Taylor. Take your rage to them
-
Not intelligent enough to understand, like most bison fans. The Sun Belt can grant FBS status for even a school that becomes a football affiliate for two years. Transitional schools can complete the FBS transition if a new division is created with 9 affiliate schools and then goes back to the Big Sky. The Sun Belt does not have to lay out a dime of support. Look it up and figure it out. NDSU schooling can't think outside the box: never has and never will. Tiny FCS schools like Presbyterian, Drake, and Wagner can chose FBS if they want. Their past record and performance and fan base makes no difference. If they have a stadium that seats 15,000 and a bankroll and a conference invite, they can do what they want, regardless of fan base. This isn't Euro soccer, where performance on the field gets you to the next level. Money management gets a school to the next level, and that where NDSU has never performed.

Moscow, Idaho, Boone, NC, Huntsville, Tx and Statesboro, Ga are full of smoke and mirrors?

Hey, I know. But love that it causes them to go bat !@#$ crazy is a side benefit to this thread. They always underestimate what UND can do. Reading bisonville gives me ideas on investing. They are always talking about pizza delivery guys, so I asked around and chose to invest in Domino's. Its gone up by a factor of 10. Same with Buffalo Wild Wings. Maybe Sally can get naming rights to Memorial!

Refurbish Memorial to 17,000 with lights for ESPN / FoxSports1 weeknight games. Late season games play in the Alerus. 9 Big Sky home and away 1 FCS home (USD or SDSU) 1 OOC Sun Belt or MAC H/A 1 Big Ten or MWC or Pac 12 away

Florida and California can support 12 and 20 FBS programs by population but have 7 and 7. Where's the equity there? FBS programs exist where schools can fund them. The Big Sky will never challenge the Mountain West, but its where Boise St and Nevada came from. Ten years ago the same thing was said about the Sun Belt, that they'd never be competitive. They lost a bunch of teams and gained a bunch of FCS schools, but now there's a debate if they are stronger that CUSA and the MAC. It's heartening that this thread is causing a meltdown on bisonville: http://www.bisonvill...-style)/page106 For years we've been hearing there how UND will never go DI, how UND won't get in a conference especially the Big Sky, how UND is uncompetitive in DI. My statements to the contrary were always put in the preposterous category there, but they came true. This will come true in a couple of years. NDSU had their chance to join the Big Sky recently. Their fans only mock it. The Big Sky will have the last laugh. Good luck with Patty Viverito at the MVFC. She's a puppet of the basketball schools, can't get football cable contract, and wants to stay FCS.
-
No. They still owe me much of what I requested. I am sure Idaho doesn't appreciate it and there could be legal proceedings against me if I publish it. The Sun Belt wanted the WAC dead as an FBS conference (hence Idaho had to leave). The Sun Belt doesn't have a problem with the Big Sky, as long as it doesn't infringe on its territory (but the formation of the Big Sky will cut into some Sun Belt revenue, but that's several years away and the WAC didn't become a southeast conference). By joining the Sun Belt and Big Sky, both conferences make exceptions to what they normally allow, as the Sun Belt kills the WAC FBS and the Big Sky can be FBS at a later date with Idaho's and the Sun Belt help. The Big Sky needs time. No Big Sky schools were listed based on the info gained, so I honestly don't know if UND has plans. The Big Sky does have FBS plans.
-
I didn't come up with the scheme, I just recognized what Fullerton is planning to do. Verified by the opens record request to Idaho. There is zero reason the Big Sky Presidents ever allow a non-football team in. Idaho is an exception because it will get the conference to FBS.
-
I wince a bit about the idea of UND going to FBS: the commitment and money and facilities are not easily put together. But as a school, what worries me more is that UND wouldn't have the commitment to FBS while the Big Sky does. Should UND back off and ask Douple for a spot because we're not up for the task? Idaho is committed to FBS. Montana has an FBS future planned, as FCS is not the financially prudent place to stay. It's an enormous commitment of resources and talent to get there. Will UND and the Grand Forks community have what it takes?
