He's not the only owner saying there isn't much they can do to stop the players from going.
-
I made the mistake too. Most of the stuff is by Goon so you over look who wrote it and just assume it was Goon. He been quiet on the issue for the most part.
-
Redwing77 will write things on Goon's blog from time to time. If you don't notice who wrote it you'd think it was Goon, MafiaMan happened to correct me and then I noticed the mistake on thinking Goon wrote it.
-
Goon didn't write it, MafiaMan saw that redwing77 wrote it. I thought it was written by Goon too until MafiaMan said it was redwing77.

The Capitals owner said he'd let his players go and wouldn't stop them.

I have yet to hear them talk about UND cutting women's hockey on the broadcasts, I guess they could have when I'm not paying attention. But they never stop talking about the US teams boycott during the US games.
-
I keep hearing 2020 so I thought it was the China ones.

The men's team.

NHLPA released a statement on the NHL decision. It's on Twitter and their website is having issues.
-
Now they lose the next 20 games.

In Goon's new article, he mentions that the Sate of North Dakota could have close down a 2 year college and not have cut any sports at UND. This was actually brought up in Montana by the Governor to balance the budget for the universities in Montana. He proposed that a 2 year college gets shut down to balance the budget for Montana and Montana State. http://thesportsdaily.com/goonsworld-blog/my-take-on-the-plight-of-und-fringe-athletics/ Edit: Apologies to Goon as MifiaMan pointed out redwing77 wrote it.

The B1G might be happy about that. Rutgers is the B1G's FCS team now.

There is very little non-pros in the Olympics.

After reading it, with the NHLPA not saying anything tells me the players are going to go without the NHL's approval or a lockout is coming. If Bettman was worried about money for the "grassroots" level of hockey then he should have said something to USA Hockey paying the women's team $70,000 per player. For what I gather the NHL subsidizes USA Hockey. It also sound like the NHL would go to the 2022 games in China. They have been sending players there to help grow the game there and have a game scheduled there next season. If the stoppage is such a big deal teams can bring up layers out of the AHL that they bring up in March. The stoppage would also be good for teams that are in the hunt for the playoffs to get players healthy and rest up players for the stretch run into the playoff. There are teams resting players in March, 17 days in February helps even more. If the US wasn't so worried about getting the Summer Olympics they could have gotten the 2018 Winter Olympics and were begged by the IOC to bid on the 2022 Winter Olympics even being told they would get the games. This whole NHL issue wouldn't be a big deal. If teams find a way to stop players from going I suspect the USA and Canada to use their WJC teams.

I know people want Kennedy and Faison to come out and say how much women's hockey costs and go through the whole budget. That won't change anything and people are still going to want women's hockey reinstated. USA Hockey came out and said they don't pay the men's team, but it didn't stop people from siding with the women's team. They got support from the NHLPA, NBAPA, MLBPA, and the NFLPA, USA Hockey wasn't going to win. This isn't going to go away and the moment UND talks about adding a sport or building a new athletic facility the people will come out and say add women's hockey or what ever other sport that have been cut.
-
I feel a lockout coming.
-
He was asked to help the women's team and said what is he suppose to do.
-
Mike Commodore has some good tweets on the issue. At least he agrees it sucks but a buget is a buget.
-
That's a good question on how the NCAA will work around that now.

Here's the link to anyone who hasn't read it. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/4244678-lamoureux-twins-send-und-president-letter-prepare-fight-womens-hockey#.WOJvBbxOeqU.twitter I think this issue is going to go on for awhile. Their claim that UND cutting women's hockey is detrimental girls/women's hockey. What is detrimental to women's hockey is the USA and Canada spanking teams 7, 8, or 9-0. USA and Canada dominating the Olympics doesn't look good at the Olympics. If the women's national team wants to save women's hockey at UND I won't stop them, maybe they get the WCHA to pay UND for a team it worked for USA Hockey. The twins and their teammates better find around $31 million to fund the hockey team along with the other sports needed for Tilte XI. (I used $31 million because $2 million only cover a season. So they might as well do the ASU way of starting hockey.) Edit: Why does it seem like people only care about how many Olympians UND has and not winning National Titles?

Story about University of Illinois-Chicago. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2017/04/02_When-Chicago-Had-College-Hockey.php I would have added Illinois State tor their list of possible NCAA D1 hockey programs. They have a D1 caliber arena not far from campus that they could use.

Wilkie did a lot of things not on the score sheet, he did things to get his line mates open to score goals.
