  1. I didn't say they wouldn't beat NDSU badly. You're the one that said "NCAA championship". Alabama didn't win an NCAA championship in football last year. NDSU did. The truth is that NCAA division 1 hockey is much more comparable to FCS football than it is to FBS/BCS football.
  2. Actually, isn't the FCS championship technically the highest level of NCAA football championship? I don't believe the BCS championship is technically an NCAA championship.
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the capacity of the Fargodome is listed at 18,700. The attendance for the game was 18,066. Sounds like there would've been less than 800 open seats. Edit: Sorry. I forgot that it is looked down upon to provide actual facts that correct people on this site. Feel free to ignore my post and believe that there were several thousand open seats.
  4. I agree. They could've just as well simply called what they used to have a 2-team "playoff" and stick with that.
  5. I'd take the over on this. YSU likely will be .500+. UNI has a possibility of it if they win out. I think NDSU beats SDSU, ISU-r, and SIU, who will all likely be .500+. Over/Under... UND beats 1.5 D1 teams with .500+ records this year. I'll take the under. I think the only one will be Sac State. Sac State should make it, but that's no guarantee with games against Cal Poly, MSU, and at UC Davis. Portland State would have to win out, with games against MSU and EWU. Montana would have to win out, with a game against MSU. SUU and UNC can't make it if UND beats them. (I'm also assuming UND loses to MSU - the only team guaranteed to finish .500+).
  6. Tjamz did not say that NDSU would absolutely beat SDSU without question. He was responding to a UND fan that posed the question, "I would like to know why you think NDSU would be able to win a game against SDSU this year." In response to this question, he used an unbiased source to show why he believes NDSU would be able to win a game against SDSU this year. He gave the results from that website and immediately followed it up with, "Is that a guarantee? No..." Saying someone has the ability to win is not saying they would win without question. As Bison06 pointed out, it appears you read what you want to read every time a Bison poster posts.
  7. I've been sitting and watching this because it has been quite comical, but I just have to correct something here. The records that Sioux29 posted about the FCS teams that NDSU has beaten is incorrect. First of all, he listed 7 teams. NDSU has played 9 FBS teams and is 6-3 vs FBS teams. Second, he was close on the records, but assuming he meant to list the records of the teams that NDSU has beaten, you need to replace the 4-8 and 6-7 with an 8-6. Here are the correct records. 5-7, 1-11, 8-6, 3-9, 3-9, 1-6. Which is 21-48 (not 23-57 as he mentioned). Not sure if I believe the records that he posted about UND now, but I don't feel like checking.
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3Z5VfNqinM That's a little better angle. Now how about you try looking at it without your green and pink goggles on. No way you can overturn that call.
  9. Actually, they got the call right. Yes, his left foot and knee came down out of bounds, but his right foot had already touched down after he caught the ball, prior to his left foot going out of bounds. In college, you only need one foot in.
  10. If I go through the Montana website, I can get tickets through that, but it just says general admission. Where would those tickets be?
  11. Are tickets on sale for the Montana game yet? I realize this isn't related to this thread at all, but I was hoping someone could help me out. My wife is a big Griz fan, so I was hoping to get a couple tickets for that game. Thanks in advance.
  12. Do the posts get translated somehow prior to the UND fans reading them? This is what is frustrating when having these discussions. It appears as though you don't even read a post before you respond. Where did I say NDSU can't schedule a team that is above them or close to them or more established than them? NDSU has scheduled Georgia Southern, Montana, and Montana State. I posted a logical explanation for NDSU's scheduling, and you respond by spewing random inaccuracies. If you would like to attempt to provide a logical response to my logical explanation, feel free to re-read my original post, or if my post did get changed prior to you reading it, please let me know and I will explain to you what I actually wrote. Who is the one that chose to stop that 100+ years of tradition? Now the tables are turned and all the UND fans want to hold it against NDSU when UND is the one that chose to end it. Yes, their level of FBS competition has been better than what NDSU has been scheduling. However, NDSU has Kansas State on the schedule in 2013, and Iowa State in 2014. Yes, I realize that these teams aren't at the level of Michigan, Florida, etc., but they aren't that far off. Also, I don't see App State scheduling teams like UND for home and homes. Isn't that what this entire conversation is about? Also, your comment about the FCS non-conference road games is misleading. There is a reason it is called home and home. The reason is that each team gets a home game, thereby making one of those a non-road game. So you can't simply look at the road games to determine whether or not NDSU is scheduling home and homes with FCS opponents. NDSU has games with Montana State in 2013, Montana in 2014, and Montana again in 2015. Yes, the first two are both in Fargo, but I would imagine the Montana State game is part of a home and home agreement as well. Also, we had a home and home with GSU, but GSU backed out on the game in Fargo last year. Therefore, NDSU had/has at least portions of home and home agreements scheduled with FCS opponents in 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015. I was attempting to have an intelligent conversation about this topic, but obviously that is not possible. This is an extremely long post, of which most of the content is correcting comments made about NDSU or your comments on things that I have said. If you don't know something, don't attempt to act like you do. I'm not attempting to comment on UND's schedule. If I was going to attempt to comment on it, I would do a little checking on it first so I don't sound unintelligent.
  13. First of all, why do you say "Good luck getting App State"? Are you saying they wouldn't play us? If so, then using the general concensus across this board, they must be scared of us and figure they would lose. That is awesome... and completely ridiculous. I don't believe that they are scared to play us. However, they are a more established program than NDSU, so it would be more advantageous for us to play them than vice versa. Similar to the situation between NDSU and UND. Whether you like it or not, NDSU is the more established football program. Yes, you can point out that UND has won more head to head games, but the truth is that no one outside of UND believes that makes UND the more established football program. This is the way the situation appears to me, and I am trying to be as unbiased as possible. When comparing UND to the teams that you mentioned, I believe everyone outside of UND would put them somewhere between the poorer teams and the better teams. The poorer teams are willing to play a single game in Fargo, and NDSU is fine with that. NDSU is willing to schedule home and homes with the better teams (Montana, Montana State, Georgia Southern). That leaves UND somewhere in between. They are good enough where they believe they deserve more than a single game in Fargo, but not established enough for NDSU to want to schedule a home and home. Again, that is just my opinion on this and how it appears to me. Also, NDSU's scheduling is not anything out of the ordinary. Look at App State's schedule over the past several years. They have an FBS game, 2 home OOC games, and their conference games each year. This is the same thing that NDSU has been doing. Obviously that strategy has worked well for App State. Maybe NDSU has looked at what the successful teams have done to get to where they are and are attempting to follow that strategy. UND (unless they are willing to play a single game in Fargo), messes up that strategy.
  14. Like I said, I would rather have 6 home games than 5 with a game at UND. I would rather play PV, St Francis, etc. at home than UND in Grand Forks. Yes, that formula has been working so far. If NDSU can get a home and home with a top level FCS team, great. If not, go with the home game.
  15. It's my understanding that in order to make this game happen, it would have to be a home and home. Therefore, if NDSU were to schedule UND, they would have to either give up a home game or a game against an FBS opponent. At this point, I have no interest in doing either for a game against UND. If NDSU was to schedule a home and home with an FCS opponent, I would much rather have it be with a team like Montana, Georgia Southern, App State, etc. that has a history of being successful at this level. Now, if UND wants a single game in Fargo, like the teams like Prairie View, RMU, St. Francis, etc. are agreeing to, I'm all for it. However, I don't see that happening, so I say stick with what's working (6 home games and an FBS game).
  16. This is awesome. I am picturing a little kid plugging his ears going "la la la la la la la... I'm not listening to you... la la la la." I apologize on behalf of the rest of the Bison fans for attempting to add relevant information to the conversation about NDSU.
  17. Yeah, those approximately 20 years between winning national championships was quite a drought for NDSU. Seriously though, I think it would be a major accomplishment if UND makes the playoffs this year, especially with the schedule they have. I would be very impressed. I really didn't follow UND over the past few years, but from what it sounds like, they have been pretty inconsistent, beating some good teams, but losing to or barely beating weak teams (NAIA or UNC). They will have to be much more consistent to be successful with this year's schedule. Sounds like the FBS transfer at QB should help significantly though.
  18. Obviously the stats do indicate that UND was the better team more years, but do you feel that this proves that UND has been the better team overall? The fact that UND has a relatively significant lead in the head-to-head matches could lead one to believe that UND has been the better team overall. However, the same can be said if you only look at national championships won for NDSU. Although you can't just take the years in which one team won a title, titles should be factored in IMO. When looking at both statistics together, I believe this indicates that UND has been good more consistently than NDSU. On the other hand, NDSU, while not being as consistent as UND, has been great more often than UND. Personally, I would prefer for my team to be good less often, but great more often. That is just my personal opinion. I am not attempting to convince anyone of anything. I would guess that many of the people on this forum are Minnesota Vikings fans like me. As a Vikings fan, how many 10-6 seasons would you trade to have seen the Vikings win the Super Bowl in the 2009 season or the 1998 season or the 1987 season?
  19. I don't have an issue with SHSU being #1. They gave NDSU their toughest game of the playoffs and have a lot of talent returning. Plus it is very difficult to repeat.
  20. I thought this was a football forum. Why do people keep bringing up hockey?
  21. I don't think anyone is arguing how nice the Ralph is, but isn't this a football forum?
  22. There is no doubt in my mind that eventually UND will be ranked higher than NDSU, and it could happen relatively soon. UND has always had a good program. As far as the FCS title, I wouldn't assume that will necessarily be happening any time soon. UND didn't get their first DII title until about 40 years after NDSU. Could be a long wait. Not according to Sports Network. I think the two conferences are very close. Even if the Big Sky was a better conference (which it could be argued that they are), isn't it more important to be the national champions than to be from a better conference?
  23. I was simply clarifying. The statement that was made appeared to contradict itself. I'm not saying UND didn't deserve to be ranked by the end of the season. I was simply saying that when they got into the top 25, they did not get in because of their record at that time. They got in, likely due to a mix up between voters. I'm sorry if you can't handle a Bison fan coming in and correcting a statement that appeared to be incorrect. I will refrain from doing so in the future, and let the UND fans deceive the others reading that do not know the background of the situation. He did have a very good analysis of the situation, and I do appreciate the fact that he accepts there was a mistake in the polls.
