I think he has performed quite well, especially the second half of each season. People said the same thing about James Patrick when he was drafted 9th overall. They expected more out of him which eventually came the second half of the season and beyond. I think the setback with mono his first year and the injury at the World Juniors this year set Forbort back a bit. I really think this year could tell a lot. With Blood gone Forbort needs to step up and be an impact player from the start of the season. I'm sure the coaches are going to expect him to pick up where he left off at the end of last season and hopefully he will put those expectations on himself. If Berry comes in like it looks like, maybe that will give him another tool to develop the potential a little more.
I think if there is any knock on forbort it has to be his lack of size. I believe he is about 6'4 or so but seems to be to lanky. He needs to bulk up and start building some muscle for that 6'4 frame. He has pretty much all the skill now he has to allow his body to catch up.

I didn't wanna say that cuz I thought I'd get mugged but I suppose I shouldn't worry about that on an opinion blog. maybe this is the wrong thing to say but I would like forbort more if he was a more physical defenseman.
Forbort for the most part has been a good defensemen. He does however need to add some bulk to his lanky frame. I hope he plans on hitting the gym this offseason.

Regardless of how you feel about the nickname and logo it has gotten to the point where UND needs to be able to retire the nickname for the better of the university and students. It pains me to vote Yes but I will not be a willing participant in the death kneel of UND sports.

I think this is the best case scenario. A coach with NHL experience who has been around the block and knows how the college process works. If someone is going to replace Eades, Berry would be the best call.

You are correct. I hope Berry does come back. I don't think you could replace Cary with anyone else but Berry and still have the continuity in the program for next season. I am sure Hak had his ducks in a row before letting Cary go.

A buddy of mine who lived near the river in GF has a similar story. Back in 1965 the Twins put out a set of black and white pictures (5 x 7's I think they were) of all the players from the 65' team. He had the whole complete set stored in the rafters of his garage. Water was over the roof before he thought of them.
Ouch. That stuff is hard to lose.

I have also heard that they will reopen once they have fixed their roof issues.
I remember the first time I ate at the Bronze Boot. My grandfather, rest his soul, took me out for some shrimp. He kept telling me this is a special kind of shrimp. I remember trying these special shrimp and think my how elastic they were. My grandfather on the way home told me those special shrimp have another name. Rocky Mountain Oysters.. I have never had that special shrimp again.

Not quite. The aluminum shafts from Christian didn't have a name on them. The blade inserts had names on them.
I was referring to the stick you see in the picture which is all WOOD and not aluminum.
To clarify I was referring to all WOOD christian bros sticks. But thanks for pointing that out.

Brings back very sad memories for me as well...I was in college (at a neighboring/WCHA rival University) and when I came back to help and went into my old room (which was in the basement) and realized that all of those childhood items were gone- it was tragic. Although I didn't have a Hrkac stick...
Here is a pic of the only old school cb sioux stick I have left. Not sure how it made it out of the flood unscathed but it did.
All the christian bros WOOD sticks had the players names stamped on them like you see in the picture.

I know, we put the sticks in the rafters of the basement, little did we know at the time the water would fill up the basement and make it to the main floor. Miss that stick.

If you are the real Hrkac that is awesome. I was a huge fan as a kid growing up watching the Hrkac Circus. As a matter of fact you gave me one of your christian brothers wood hockey sticks during a meet the players event. That thing was my pride and joy until it was lost in the flood of 97.

Well if Brad is going to be the new assistant coach he will need to quit his current job first. I suppose in the next couple weeks we should hear news regarding his status with CBJ. If that does happen it would all become more clearer.

Jones recently started following the Portland Winterhawks on twitter so I imagine that is where he's going. He doesn't follow UND hockey. FWIW, Miles Koules started following the Medicine Hat Tigers a few weeks before decommitting
The Portland Winterhawks are still in contention for the Memorial Cup so if Jones is indeed headed there we might not get any confirmation until after the playoffs.
The writing is certainly on the wall. I am pretty sure he is headed to Portland so I am just moving on from this thread. If he does come to UND great if not its just business as usual.

I heard this weekend from a good source that we have found our guy and the quote above holds true. I don't think it will be a big surprise to anyone around here.

Seth Jones' brother, Caleb, was drafted by Portland in their Bantam draft the other day. Package deal perhaps? They could be just trying to sweeten the pot to lure him. I wish he would decide soon so we can move on from this whatever the outcome.

Great story about Taylor Cammaratta. What a great person, to go along with being an excellent hockey player. The Gopher's really got a good one here.
He may be a good kid but he has horrible taste in picking colleges.

Real excited to see our freshman get on the ice. Excited to see Schmaltz, Caggiula and Chyzky play. Don't know much about Sanderson but he could be a good one too. Once Dell decides what he wants to do we will have a better picture of goaltending.
