  1. Igbanugo should have looked up, he had Sueker open around the basket for an easy layup ORU buried a 3 on the other end 6-0 ORU
  2. Same lineup as last night Nero Igbanugo Sims Sueker Rebraca
  3. It would be for me as well but I understand the original intent of the poster, saying that it was a bigger win because last year we had that player that could go out and win games by himself (Marlon). If I had to rank the top 5 so far for Sather, I would go this route 1) USD at Summit Tourney 2) ORU yesterday 3) NDSU on Senior Night 4) Nebraska 5) ORU last year in Grand Forks *Beating a P5 school is great and normally would be higher, but Nebraska was hot trash last year.
  4. Despite not having their starting point guard, UND used a big 2nd half performance by Rebraca, steady contributions from Igbanugo and Sueker, and a big time steal by Sims at the end to steal a 72-71 win down in Oral Roberts. The win also gives Paul Sather 300 career wins as a head coach! They look to perhaps get the sweep tonight in Tulsa. Last night in the Summit USD 66 Kansas City 64 NDSU 71 Omaha 69 SDSU 83 WIU 77 The big story continues to be the suspension of Noah Friedel at SDSU as he did not play in the first game against Western Illinois. It did help to get Wilson back off of the COVID list and he had a big game to carry SDSU to victory. NDSU nearly let Omaha steal one in Fargo behind Tut (31 points), but Griesel was not going to let that happen as he nailed the game winner and pushed the Bison to a 3-0 start. A similar situation nearly happened in Kansas City as the Roos made a strong comeback in the 2nd half, only to fall short against the Yotes, who start the season 3-0 as well. USD has had lots of momentum since their big win against SDSU in the Dakota Showcase. Key questions for UND: 1) How do they respond after the big win: This is going to be the big thing for this squad, how do they play tonight? Do they build off of this win and play another good game or do they revert back to their inconsistent ways? Its too early to say if this team has potentially turning a corner but this game tonight could give us more clues. 2) Status of Ihenacho: Does he go tonight? If not, can UND get a similar performance from Igbanugo 3) Can they slow Abmas down again?: This was his worst shooting night of the year, can UND repeat that again today? The call: I fully expect an ORU bounce back today, I look for them to try and get Abmas going early but they might try to get their 3rd option Glasper going (UND has some issues with him last night) as well. UND needs to be better on the glass today, they let Obanor kick their butts down there one too many times. UND also can't count on ORU going 7-29 from 3, so they are going to have to continue to play inside out. For me, its this. I want to see UND play another good game to build the confidence of the team going forward, they cannot afford to have a clunker. Could they win again? Its possible, but I think Oral Roberts get the dub behind a better shooting performance from Abmas ORU 81-74 Game is here: ORUMBB vs. North Dakota - Oral Roberts University (oruathletics.com)
  5. Thinking on this last night, this was very similar circumstances to last years win against Oral Roberts in Grand Forks. A key piece missing (Rebraca last year, Tyree this year) that played to ORU strength (last year it was their bigs, this year it was Abmas), the replacement stepped up and played well (G last year, Ethan this year), UND got a big time performance from their star (Marlon last year, Rebraca this year), got balanced scoring (both games had 4 starters with double figures), and made a huge play at the end to seal it (DAE steal and slam last year, Sims steal and free throw/Rebraca block at the end).
  6. UND only turned the ball over 8 times, 3 of them were in the 2nd half UND held ORU to 7-29 shooting from 3. UND made 8-22 from 3. Which for them is a high mark right now. No Ihenacho tonight, so Igbanugo stepped up tonight and knocked down some shots (3-6 from 3, including 2 big back to back 3's in the 2nd half) scored 11 points. Held Abmas in check (5-18, 2-10 from 3). Obanor was dominate in the 1st half but Rebraca got him good in the 2nd half. They combined to score 39 points. Last weekend against Omaha they combined to score 66 and 67 points in the two matchups. Speaking of Rebraca, he stepped up big time in the 2nd half. He didn't want to let UND lose. Free throws were a struggle yes, and I think he needs to work on his mechanics. Had the big block at the end. I felt the offense look way better, more movement on and off the ball, they were getting good, open looks. Sims: Scored 10 points, had a big 3 late in the 2nd half. I was concerned about him defending Abmas and he got him a few times and felt he would have been too quick for him. However... he made THE play on defense in picking Max's pocket and getting fouled. Sueker was 5-7 from the floor and was the 4th UND player with double figures. Think he is finally settling in. Panoam stepped in and was okay, I'll give him credit for trying to put up a poster but was denied. G knocked down 2 3's in the first half, scored 8 points off of the bench. Nice bounceback after a tough Kansas City series. ORU made things very difficult on the glass, nothing came easy for UND on both ends. The ball was flying around a little too much and wasn't secured as much as it should have for UND. They are a good team... but it appears that they still have that bugaboo of having a clunker or two. UND got one and it does make up for that Kansas City loss at home. Team took a solid step in the right direction. Its house money tomorrow. I fully expect ORU to come back with a vengeance. Win #300 for Sather in his career. Congrats Coach!
  7. When watching the KC game, I though Val said that Kacie had an ankle injury, but heard nothing on Keplin.
  8. I would throw the USD game at the Summit tourney as well.
  9. STEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. If there was a moment where UND can get a stop. A turnover, a steal, an offensive foul. Now would be the time.
  11. Ethan got the look. missed it Abmas was cold 71-69 ORU
  12. SIMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 69-67 UND
