This is my biggest gripe with the offense under Bubba. We’ve had some really good TEs too. Cloyd could have been an All American. Totally wasted an awesome talent.

After hearing Wes pull all of his UND posts and put back up USD stuff, I had a feeling this might be the roughest transfer portal season for us. Seeing Kilty was a gut punch initially, but given his situation and having a degree I think he likely would have transferred even if we made it to the Championship game. Great opportunity for him.
I think top FCS lineman will always get plenty of offers in the portal, might be hard keeping the really good ones in the future. We all know it starts up front and what FBS team isn't going to want to add a solid fit on the OL.
Glad Bo is staying, him returning was nice to see just to have him back, but also to show others on the team that it's worth sticking around. That said he gets 50 percent of the passes thrown his way, which is both good and bad. He won't get that many passes thrown his way almost no matter where he goes.
I will be on pins and needles every time I see a new post come on on this thread, I think there will be a few other semi big names that hit the portal.
Wes had plenty of UND posts on his Twitter last night.

One of my beliefs with roster construction is the appropriate amount of turnover is a good thing. From the Sr. class, who do we hope returns? Here's my list.
- Belquist
- Vaughn
- McNaboe
- Hembry
- Beach
- Navratil* (This is if the coaching staff believes he can return to the form he had as an underclassman)
- Fort* (He looks to have another year of eligibility)
If Belquist returns, I hope the rumor of Wilson entering the portal is true.
IMO Red is replaceable with current underclassmen. Plus with him getting sat for having a bad attitude he probably wants to leave and it’s best when guys who want out get out. For both parties. Hopefully he finds an offense that will actually use him.

Same. Which d2 playa has worked out for us? Other then lb from scsu
Not necessarily for us but around FCS.

No question our OL coach is an asset. I don’t think anyone has thought or posted otherwise. I feel we’ve been lucky he hasn’t been poached yet.

UND has under-utilized transfer portal in my opinion. Can’t build a team off it, but you can bring in more than 3-5 per season. Don’t be scared. Catch up with the times.
again, though, the instruction (or really the lack thereof) they end up getting after they arrive here is my major concern …
no evidence transfers will be put in position to get UND over the 7 win hump
IMO top tier D2 guys are some of the best portal transfers.

So likely Kotelnicki's recruits at LB and DB were passed along to Bubba.
Luke S was the Illinois guy. He brought in Kenny G, Reyes, Kuksa etc. Marty Rodgers was bringing in Jeremy Chinn who is currently with the panthers. Chinn followed him to SIU a when he left here before Chinn signed.

"However, UND hasn't won more than seven games since 2016." - T Miller, GF Herald
So Bubba counts in octal, numbers zero through seven.
It still bothers me that our best LBs and safeties were Muss recruits.

Both games are on the offensive coordinator. Couldn’t keep his dick in his pants in either game.

The only time our offense impressed me was against NDSU. Every other time we faced a tough defense they struggled. Averaged 20pts against teams with respectable at all defenses. That’s with the 49 we dropped on NDSU as a major outlier. Without that performance we averaged 14.2.

The offense isn't the problem. This team averaged 31.4 PPG. No questions it's the defense. They gave up an average of 26.2 PPG. Which included 33 and 31 to bottom feeders Indiana St and Murray St respectively and 42 at home to a 4th place Big Sky team. So as much as people want to complain about quarterback play, that's not the problem. Sure, Trey has a bigger arm and might be more mobile, but 31.4 PPG is still pretty damn good.
Defensive personal needs to change, but most importantly, our scheme needs to change. It's time to retire the 3-4 defense. We have got to be one of the last schools in the country to still running it. They implemented it in the late 80's/early 90's for one reason. The to stop NDSU's option. No one does the option anymore. This would be a huge change that I think would prove to be very successful. It's time.
Look at our output against good defenses though. We puffed up our offensive stats against cupcakes.

LBs should be coached by someone who didn’t play D2 WR.

How much time have we given you there so far I believe five years enough for his recruits one Cycle
I like the look of the team now though. He got screwed by the portal over and over early.

And this year for basketball? Volleyball was in as bad a spot as you can get, gotta give that coach 3-4 years.

Sather is a good hire. Tupac as well. Both of those programs were in shambles though. The right hire with football could make things happen very quickly.

I can see what Danny was thinking to start the 4th……I’ll run playaction, catch them off guard and move the ball. Problem is as a team we want to score there but not score quick. Nothing wrong with what we had been doing to that point, pound the ball…..5 minute drive and get them the ball back with 10 minutes left and hopefully behind. It just changes things. Commit to 4 down territory from there in and statistically, we can run the ball down the field. Offense needs to compliment the defense and the staff should know that.
It’s too obvious for everyone else. That’s what’s frustrating. Our garbage defense needed rest and time to go over things and their offense needed to cool off. So a quick score there does not help us other than 7 more points. It’s just not understanding these in game concepts that Bubba and Co have never been good at.

Swaying too far away from the realm of possibility. But I agree in principle with what you’re laying out.
Chaves didn’t hire Bubba so how would anyone know if he wouldn’t hire a good replacement?

Schmitty would be the only und connection that I would personally be ok with for next man up. Not perfect but he doesn’t fit the bubba mold. He is extremely to the point and an intense motivator. Now having a resume of experience in the fbs winning column he brings that formula. He is smart and knows football. I think he could excel with the right personal. Just my .02. But since und doesn’t have the monetary ability to hire anything more than a high school gym teacher I’m not sure in the options for next man up.
If I’m Schmidty I’m staying hitched with DeBoer. No question. Wouldn’t even consider the HC job at UND.

All you need to know is that Bubba is a defensive coordinator most of his career and the defense showed up like that for a home playoff game. How many years has he produced a defense that could produce ulcers in the fan base? 6 or 7 of 10 years?

What edge?

Definitely a head scratcher. Does Sac St not draw well or why didn’t they have a home game?
Hard to figure out how us and Ndsu both have 3 fcs losses and we win head to head and they get paired with the worst team in the field…
You could probably look at their performance at UNI as well as ours.
