I mean, he's the one at the line, checking into plays/making the decisions on the RPO, handing it off or throwing to WR's.
Not what you were insinuating but does a QB without the experience he has make the right decision or even get that latitude? Not in most systems.
The truth is we don’t know what we have in Feeney until he has the opportunity to sink or swim. Some guys are just gamers.

Ok, but this shoe/cleat conspiracy is about 5% of the issue tops. Cleats caused the early fumble? Cleats caused the missed field goal before half? Cleats caused the UND defense to make a former UNI defensive player look like an all-American running back? Cleats didn’t allow UND to block and run the football? Yeah, not buying it, but sure sounds good for those with gullible ears.
FWIW their best defensive player wore cleats and wasn’t the only guy. I do think it was a big mistake by us but didn’t account for the clear lack of fire. We laid down and it wasn’t because of the cleats.

It's not unheard of to make a switch. Does Tommy have any comebacks in the past 3 years? I think he's either hot or cold and rides that through the entire game. Tough comparison but it was the National Championship game and the starter was 25-2 in his career, and the back-up had no competitive playing time. What a Ballzy call!!
The Alabama Crimson Tide won the 2017 college football national championship on Monday night, beating the Georgia Bulldogs in overtime, 26-23, in Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
It was a game filled with big moments. But undoubtedly the biggest decision in the game came at halftime, when Alabama head coach Nick Saban choose to replace starting quarterback Jalen Hurts with true freshman Tua Tagovailoa after the Tide got out to a flat start on offense.
When Tagovailoa came out for Alabama's first drive of the second half, many were left confused by the move. Hurts was 25-2 in his career as a starter, and the idea of giving a true freshman his first competitive playing time in the national championship against one of the best defenses in college football seems like a recipe for disaster.
But Saban knew what he was doing.
Saban has a set of clangers though. There’s a reason he’s built championship squads at multiple schools. Still salty he left LSU.

Here is my take about taking Tommy out. Maybe if he was takin out after the opening drive of the 3rd. Trey comes in and rally’s team to a win. Or maybe we lose.
Another is that Tommy would be p!ssed off and be more focused more resilient next time. Or the team rallies, saying we cannot let out QB down.
I don’t know the psyche of our players or what goes on in the locker room. Our coaches would know more about motivating them. Bottom line players have to believe and make their own energy on the road.
Focus one play at a time…..
Historical note, 1979 Monday Night Kenny throws pick 6 and Raiders down 35-14 in 3rd. Flores sends in Plunkett and Stabler waves him off and later says. I got us into this mess, and I’m going to get us out of it. 4 TD’s later Raiders win.Nothing motivates guys like the bench.
Stabler was a dog though and his team knew he was a warrior. I have my doubts that Tommy moves the needle for his teammates like that and the record shows it. Have we had any comebacks with Tommy?- 3

So UNI was wearing turf shoes and we were wearing cleats? Only person I noticed was Tommy wearing his usual all blacks on the road.
It wasn’t 100%, looked like some of their guys had cleats on too but we had a lot of, probably most, guys in cleats.
Looks like almost nobody for Weber wore cleats fwiw, and I know I’ve seen NDSU with turf shoes on in that building instead of cleats.

Not a cleat or turf expert but I did notice a couple of UNI guys wearing the old turf shoes rather than cleats. No idea if that was team wide or a select few.
Many teams wear turf shoes at UNI and some even at USD. It’s not a new thing either. The staff has experience from playing there with SIU.

You should explain to him what he should’ve done since you seem to be an expert at running the ball! How about the fact that the players were wearing cleats instead of Turf shoes? Maybe that had something to do with it? I’ll ask you since you’re the expert.
Thanks for your contribution. Anything to offer other than your insecurity?

What feeling does everyone have with Ziebarth's injury. Clearly not playing this week. We thinking more week to week or potentially season ender?
Sit him for the next two games. Note to everyone. Don’t try a spin move in traffic with a guy on your back.

13 minutes ago, Dustin said:I know this won’t be a popular take, but I’m just trying to think about this logically. There’s been a lot of disgust at starting Tommy for the 3rd quarter. Keep in mind, this analysis only works when considering what we knew at halftime, not anything in the second half. At halftime, UND was only down 17, well within the reach of making a comeback, so long as some things go your way. UND was going to start with the ball. Score on that drive. Get a stop. Force a turnover. Who would have the best chances to lead a comeback - a 4 year starter or a backup who has only played a few reps? I’m not ragging on the backups, I’m just asking what evidence is available to think they would’ve been the best candidate to lead a comeback? I know Tommy had a bad half, but that doesn’t mean the second half will go the same way. Putting a new guy in there at that point says, to me, that we are not expecting to win.
I’ll hang up and listen.
Pretty obviously that Tommy would start the second half. As that half went on though, he just still wasn’t getting it done. Bubbas just not the kind of coach to pull a qb like that I guess. Wish he had a little more of that Dean Blais in him. A little gambler in him.

All the quotes can be boiled down to this. We are great front runners at home and we lack the mental toughness to recover when things go wrong. AKA, we’re a Big Sky team.

For a third time this season.....
Not this time. He said focus on the mistakes and learn from them.

NCAA kickers on extra points 94%. NFL kickers on extra points in 2022 (33 yards) 94.6%. Pretty comparable numbers buddy
He was pro quality stats wise so he got benched?
You know why the nfl percentage is so high? Because guys who blow a bunch of extra points lose their jobs.

So a kick that’s almost twice as long? Math much?

Comparison to last 25 home and 25 away games.
23-2 Home last 25
6-19 Away last 25.
of those 6 wins only Youngstown 7-4 had a winning record. Is Bubbas best road win against then #5 Sam Houston who finished 6-5? 0 road wins against teams who made the playoffs? Do I have that straight?

He’s money from everywhere. But unfortunately he didn’t get the opportunity to kick that FG yesterday so I guess we’ll never know. But I have faith in #92 to make any kick.
If he’s money he’s German Marks from 1923

This is where they messed up. #92 would have made that kick yesterday.
Because extra points are too close and it makes him nervous? He’s money between 25-35 yards?

8 minutes ago, Mama Sue said:He had some issues too…every coach does (and he left coaching so not so sure about that). The question is: is UND willing to pay what it takes to get a quality, experience head coach and then follow up with all the $$$ to promote the team?
I mean, the history of paying minimal $$$ for all inexperienced coaches several years ago should be fresh in the minds of administration.
Until there is a $$$ commitment, we should support Bubba not ax him. I am sure the time commitment and steer makes many coaches wonder….many jobs are like that.
Our football budget is way bigger than Northern Iowa’s fwiw.

Well hopefully somebody breaks something at halftime and we come out on fire. This second half will tell us what our program is made of. Huge opportunity.

What happened to the rushing offense that UND had last week? It was as if NDSU could not stop it. Play calling?
We’re playing a team with an actual defensive line this week. NDSU is very weak up the middle

They do but sometimes it just doesn’t show in practice which makes it hard on the coaches. Hell, Tom Brady’s first college pass was a pick 6. Also with their jobs on the line I’d bet a lot of coaches are weighing the down sides with extra weight to be conservative. That makes their threshold for yanking a qb totally different than a fans regardless of how knowledgeable that fan is or not.
