Currently, the ship is belly up. Didn't even make it out of the harbor.

I'm sure he will be the bigger man and post a correction in short order.....
-
I think we're also missing Obrien's passion on d. Not only was he making the calls but he was also the guy who got the most excited after making plays.
-
Which is a problem. This years team has a glass jaw. They have shown no ability to hang in there and regroup.
-
This one was a rub route and their dbs ran into each other. Pretty cut and dry blown call.
-
That PI call wasn't lack of discipline. It was a straight up blown call.
-
And late in the game with the backup qbs

For a team like ours that had struggled mightily the previous game an opening drive TD would have been huge. Instead the blocked fg continued the negative momentum from the previous game.
-
bull$%!# Dev was a stud as a true fr. I agree on the lines. Both are too small and not strong enough.
-
How? We went from a TD to a blocked FG. That's a massive change in momentum.
-
Different defenses too. They have more DTs on their roster and we have more LBs. That 10 lb difference doesn't sound like much for the LBs but that adding 10 lbs of muscle makes massive difference in strength. I think our DL is undersized by about 20 lbs per guy.

I outlined why it isn't here at MLB in another thread. Injuries + abnormal attrition. Same for the OL. Also, Dev Ferguson would have looked good in green as a senior.

Don't hold your breath on Bungum

I remember a couple of years ago Wade Philips talked about how one year he went way too complex with his defense. The next year with basically the same personnel he simplifies everything and they were all of a sudden flying around and dominating. You can't play fast when thinking.
-
Due to all of the injuries it's time to readjust expectation to a realistic level. "Other teams have injuries too" isn't valid here. Find me another team that is down to its 5th and 6th MLBs. The OL also isn't helping. Those fr aren't ready and neither is Blair. Worst of all is the digression of the DL in my opinion. I don't think it was wise for Tank to lose weight in the off season. Our NTs aren't clogging things up like they need to.
-
I wonder what the composition of this game would have been if they refs hadn't blown that offensive P.I. call that took away that TD. I feel like that momentum would have helped the team.
-
It isn't to that level. Those muss teams would be full strength injury wise and get pumped worse than this. Our roster full strength would be good but shallow at a couple spots. I haven't seen injuries like this in a long time.

After seeing Heidelbaugh attempt to throw a football today it is clear he should be changed to a position where he can contribute. If he has the toughness for LB he should move their. He's too slow for wr, we have enough tall slow ass white boys out there.
-
This is turning into 2002. I can't remember which poster made that point earlier in the week but I have the same sinking feeling I had that year.
-
No. The DL take up the blockers and the LBs run around and clean up everything else. Right now our LBs and getting blown up by OL.
-
What happened to our DL? We lost one guy and the unit is trash. I get why the LBs suck. But the DL? That's supposed to be the backbone of this defense. To a man, every single player digressed from last season. It would appear complacency set in over the off season. Same thing happened to Muss' team after the Great West title. I also don't care if a fr OL has to play, they need to at least get their hands on a guy and move them. We've been smashed in the trenches this year. This team is soft. They have no edge. We need to run the table to make the playoffs. That ain't about to happen. Time to bench guys that aren't getting it done for someone who is young and hungry and live with their mistakes.
-
Reyes going down today too. Not that he has made any plays this year.
-
It seldom works to move backwards with positions. Moving forward from safety to LB means you go from being a slow safety to a fast LB instead of a quick DL to a slow LB.
-
Yet we're still 10-2 with the Labatt. I didn't finish that 12 pack last week but I'm gonna switch it up this week. Not sure which direction I'll go yet.
