Oh, I have a hunch they'll get it, and if not, I'll make them get it!! Do not underestimate the Powers of the Monster!!I dont' think anybody would get it...including our fans. U of M fans call us JBSU in DI hockey...it is fitting when they say it. Basketball fans would not get it if one of our peers was holding a sign like that.
PS- Perhaps we should continue this arguement elsewhere. I'll invite you to check out GVfootball.com You just might want to clairfy which State you're talking about in your screen name there. Over there, you would be thought of as a Michigan St. fan.

Yeah, they probably do. But I think a big difference between these schools and UND is that UND and NDSU have always been the most visible universities in our region. UND and NDSU are the "flagship" institutions of our state. Down the road, if UND remains DII, we are in jeopardy of losing our "flagship" status. I'm afraid that fans of Michigan/Michigan St. or Nebraska-Lincoln, probably view schools like GVSU or UNO in the same way that we view Mayville St. or Mary.
Hell, Michigan and Michigan St. fans look down their noses at the MAC schools fans, and in turn, the MAC school fans try to look down their noses at GVSU. Kinda hard for them when they're losing the local recuiting battles to GVSU.

No I don't. I registered thinking this would be a nice place to talk college hockey specifically UND. What I found out was truly amazing. I was blown away by the true homerism on the hockey board(that and the sioux name board are the only one's I read). I really really enjoy college hockey but these group of idiots are mind-boggiling. Their perception of reality is so far off base you can not make it up. They constantly nit-pick each other over the tiniest little details, they consistantly have snide comments about every other team than UND, somehow someway there is a grand conspiracy against UND, UND never actually loses a game it is because of the officiating, can not (and I mean can not) give credit to another player or team besides UND--read the WCHA ROY thread (basically Oshie was robbed/Oshie really won ROY/ Kessell will not amount to anything etc etc etc)
I found out about this site during the goher/sioux series in Dec 05. When I started to read the posts from that series I literally was stunned. Every call against UND was poor(according to TH and all the posters), Irmens' jersey tug was bush league but it was OK for Chorney to essentially the same. How about this: some punk a$$ fan had a sign @ the Gopher series regarding Robbie Bina's injury and of course all Gopher fans are classless however it was ok that the UND fans made a similar sign about Tyler Hirsch and his problems when they met in Columbus last year
Like I stated before, "I have never seen such childish antics" I can understand the passion and pride for UND hockey but I do not and will not understand the childish antics and comments
BTW, I expect more childish behavior and antics as people read this

They should be the odds on favorite to win the National Title.
Ballocks!! GVSU is probably now the Odds-makers favorate to win it all now, with UND and Washburn both out.
I'll be in Arkansas, How much trouble do you guys think I would be in if I go to one of St. Cloud's games and hold up a "Jan Brady State" Sign??

Congrats to the Lady Sioux! Its down to 16, here's to hopeing that UND and GVSU make it to the 8, and perchance meet up in Arkansas.
Do note how the regional brakets are set up, you'll like the idea of UND and GVSU meeting there.

The only thing that would be better than winning a National Championship would be winning it over GVSU! I think I could handle that.
Which only adds to the rivalry.

Let me make sure I have this right. A group that was formed due to their opposition to the UND Nickname and Logo has passed a resolution opposing the UND nickname and Logo.
Geee, its a whole club pretty much decated to ridding UND of the Sioux Name and Logo? So, what exactly would they do with themselves if UND ever did change the name??
I'm sorry, but I just don't see how UND being called the Sioux really affects the Native Americans living today, and how changing the name would do anything at all to help improve the daily quality of living of most Native Americans. Is changing the name going to bring electricity, running water with indoor plumbing, and most imprantantly, Jobs out to those on the reservations?? Is removing the name going to lead to less alcohol and drug abuse on the reservations and other NA communities? I would still like to see how that's going to happen when UND changes their name.
You know, if change the name proponents would put half of the passion and zeal they have for getting the name changed into solving some of the real world issues for those living on the reservations, you would be amazed at how much they would have gotten done already, instead of worrying all about some silly little name.
