  1. His pro day is what really hurt him... A 4.9 40 and 225lb 19 times aren't very impressive when it comes to the NFL. Special teams is about the most i see him doing in the NFL.

Yeah, I would have thought a special teams coach would love to get his hands on Digger. I'll bet he'll get picked up somewhere. He could even go Arena League as well, I think he could fit in nicely there.

  2. The only D2 player to be taken so far is Danieal Manning, from Abilene Christian.

Second round #42 overall by Chicago. And don't you think its going to chap LenDale White's butt that some guy from a D2 school got drafted over him. ;)

  3. Anyone think that it would be benificial at all to email President Kupchella and letting him know that we are behind him and want to see him fight for the logo?

    CKUPCHELLA@MAIL.UND.NODAK.EDU

    Dear President Kupchella,

While I may be a fan of Grand Valley State University, I still follow UND's sports as they are respected adversaries of my beloved Lakers. I have followed UND's appeals of the NCAA's ruling on the name issue, and I'm dismayed at the NCAA's decision on friday when it appears that you have support coming from not just one, but two Sioux Tribes. I'm sure if Mr... Brand wanted to, he could have found a letter from somebody within the Seminole Nation to point to as being that the Tribe didn't want Florida State to continue to use their name as well. This whole thing just smacks of hypocrisy to me.

I have been to Grand Forks before, to attend the Playoff game between the Sioux and the Lakers in 2004. And while I might have thought the crowd was a little hostile and abusive towards me, I'm pretty sure it didn't have anything to do with my family's lineage to General Custer, but to the fact that I was wearing a blue Grand Valley shirt, face paint and bolts coming out of my neck. I didn't see anything there that would have even implied that UND tries to be systematically hostile and abusive towards Native Americans. Most of the UND fans I've met do not fit the role of bigot that they've been portrayed to be by the NCAA. I've understand that there may have been a few issues and incidents in the past, but I believe that they weren't encouraged by the university at the time and certainly do not reflect the current administrations policy.

In short, because I'm pretty sure by what I've gathered by reading online at message boards like USCHO.com and Siouxsports.com that you have receive hundreds of emails on this subject, I just wanted to send along my support to you on the issue of keeping the name. I look forward to our two universities competing against each other once again in the realm of Division Two, be it for Football or basketball, and I even hope that one day the rivalry may even take place on ice perhaps.

Sincerely, Matt Griewahn Grand Valley State University Class of 2005 AKA, the Monster.

  4. Dear NCAA,

Please remove your heads from your asses.

    Signed,

    MeanEgirl

PS. Go Tech! And all that jazz.

The Monster will second what MeanEgirl said. I still want to hear how Fighting Sioux is any different than Fighting Irish. And furthermore, if Brand and his cronies were really serious about removing all Native American imagerary from the NCAA, then they wouldn't have blinked when Florida State started to complain.

  5. This is turning into a bit of a bash Bisonville and people over there thread, which I'd like to see stop. If you want to follow up something being discussed on a different message board, do it there.

That said, I assure you that moderating a message board is a painful, thankless task; one person I met in Milwaukee memorably remarked, "you can't be Jim Dahl, he's a mean old guy". Sigh. Further, I would note that Bisonville regulars are similarly disgusted with how GDM and I run this place differently from Bisonville (and remind me of such frequently).

This thread struck me as trouble from the beginning, but I'll leave it open because another message board dedicated to UND is a topic of genuine interest, but please go there to follow up on discussions over there.

Ummm.... I think we need to see some pictures to prove that you're not some crotchy old geezer who yells at the neighborhood kids to stay off his lawn Jim. ???

    J/K Jim!!

  6. The true messageboard is back up and running. Hurry back and get your old screen names before somebody else does if you're a lurker type there. For a select few, Brandons has already gone ahead and did that for you. Check you email for the password.

  7. Let's say you wanted to devise a system for ranking the quality of automobile manufacturers in the United States. Do you think a system which ranked car companies based on the following measures would be likely to yield reliable results?

    1) A questionnaire sent to three executives at each auto manufacturer, asking them to assign a numeric ranking between 1 and 5 to each car manufacturer in accordance with their views on the companies reputation for quality

    2) The selectivity of the manufacturer in its hiring of employees

    3) Employee job satisfaction

    4) How much it cost to build their vehicles

    5) The percentage of return customers

    6) Percentage of management holding MBAs or other advanced degrees

*looks at this, shakes his head, and just says, "Too Easy." and walks away.
  8. Go easy there bigmrg. Bigears is probably one of those NDSU fans that the Bisonville.com administrator had to ban this week because he can't stop them from talking about UND on his NDSU message board. :)

Bullocks!! He'll learn soon enought. I might have to wack 'em over the head with a 2-by-4 a few times to beat it into his thick head, but he'll learn, or die of massive brain hemorrhedge(sp?) ;)

You don't tangle with the Monster any without become somewhat smarter out of the deal, like mostly to know do that again. :D;)

  9. Yeah, it would really help out the newer smaller schools if some fans from the larger, more established schools would take an interest in following the newbies. Hell, if only a couple of people from ND buy a HC tshirt, it helps them out a lot by putting money back into their program, hopefully getting them closer to getting even or even turning a profit even. Heck, with enough interest, UND might even have HC come to the Ralph to play a series as well, and show them guys another good time. Thats whats going to really help College Hockey to expand. So, I don't really see the problem if a couple of people here become casual HC fans just because they managed to beat Minnesota, if its only mostly to mock the Goofers.

  10. In 'Prpichrocks_19's defense, 99 percent of those posters who come here to troll are, or claim to be, Gopher fans. So it's not all that unlikely that deedub would be considered to be a Gopher fan the first time he posts something brash and tactless.

So, the NDSU fans and the handful of UMD Fans, UNO Fans, WSU fans and myself only one percent of the Trollers around here?? :):D;)

    ;)

  11. I completely disagree. There is nothing strong, good or healthy about the relationship between the two schools. I would say "nasty", "ugly" and "dysfunctional" are more descriptive words. The sports rivalry only serves to make an already bad situation worse. Both schools would be better off going their own separate ways.

Like it not, Grand Forks and Fargo are only an hour or so apart and well, its always going to be a heated rivalry. You're going to want games in which you sell out, and well, you do need opponents that people want to see their team beat, or opposing fans that will travel to the game to cheer on their team. Unless you have the Magical powers, or alien technology to phyisically move the entire City of Fargo to like somewhere in western ND or further away, you're stuck together. To spout off your opinion that NDSU doesn't need UND, especially on a UND fan site, just shows how much the education you got at NDSU failed to sink into your thick skull. :):D

  12. From the looks of that Hydrology site, the Red has crested in Grand Forks and for most of the river. Just cross your fingers and toes that you guys don't get any moisture coming down in the area and you guys should be home free.
