Congrats on the fine season Sioux fans. After reading through some of this, I know a lot of you are frustrated. Take it from a UNO fan, things could be even more disappointing. UND probably lost to the eventual national champion on the road by 7 points despite playing poorly. I will miss the NCC and the wars with the Sioux. Good luck.
Well played game guys, Closest game all year at Lubbers for GVSU. Its kinda rare for the whole crowd to get up at the start of the fourth quarter, and then stay to cheer instead of leaving to defrost themselves.

With Grand Valley that is......sounds like it won't work for GVSU.
That would seem to jive with the number of opponents we've identified so far in this thread, both confirmed and not.
GV might have to sweet talk the GLIAC into moving a league game around perhaps, but it's not totally out of the realm of possiablities. If I remember correctly, during the first part of UND's transition, you'll still count as a D2 team for GV, playoff-wise.

An Idea I had from watching Caveman, the TV show. Switch you name to the North Dakota Fighting Cavemen. Then you guys can go out and be as bad as you wanna be. Mascot with a loin cloth on and club, students given out foam spirit clubs, and loud chants of "Oook! Oook!"

I must have missed that somehow.I like how the cut to the Laker Mascot humping the goal post.I heard the announced attendance at under 4,900. And we thought we had problems getting people to playoff games.Yeah, Thanksgiving, State HS FB Championships in Detroit with a GR local team and well, being freakin' cold and windy never helps attendence. If it wasn't for the drive and the noise nearly made my head explode in 2004, I don't think I would have mind playing in the AL today.

Are the Lakers willing to travel? That's a big part of the equation. A home-and-home would be necessary and then maybe even that's not enough. I know UNO went to Tiffin and Western Washington with no return trip from them in 2004 just to fill out a schedule. USD went to Colorado School of Mines without a return trip.
GVSU could probably get a better game than St. Joseph's but it migh mean some taking less than optimal terms.
As far as I know, yes, but at the moment, haven't found a lot of takers.

Yeah, to tell ya the truth, I was at that USD at Northwood game, and I'm still scratching my head about how Northwood pissed down their leg that day and let that game get away from them. Coyotes weren't that good last year.We always give the NSIC teams grief about playing a weak schedule. You guys didn't play a single ranked team all year. Not one. If "crap schedule" isn't politically correct, what would you call that kind of schedule? It's not your fault that besides GVSU, the GLIAC blows, but face it--the past two years it has. Those are simply the facts. You don't have to like them. My definition of a weak conference is one in which the second-best team in that conference can't win a home game against notoriously poor road team USD (as Northwood failed to do last year).
GVSU did play several teams when they were ranked at the time, the problem is after some of our league members play GVSU, they tend to play in a funk the next couple of weeks. Case in point, Michigan Tech. One week after the GVSU scores on their schedual, you'll see that they got shut out by Hillsdale. And GVSU was going to play Ashland, but that game was canceled due to lightning.
Part of the GLIAC's problem has been that its a large conference with an odd number of teams. Some team's we just don't play in a given season, and given that we play 10 league games with bye weeks throughtout the season for the league members. Makes it awfully hard for our league members to schedual non-conference games for everybody. which pretty much leads to the league having a SOS of around .500.
Secondly, not a whole lot of D2 teams out there really want to step it up and want to schedual us in non-con game. We had supposedly had a deal two years ago to play Central Missouri, but they backed out of it. Plus, we did have New Haven schedualed for 2004-05, but they went and dropped their program in the summer, and nobody else had a date open that day. Its not like we don't want to play any good teams NC teams, we just haven't had anybody that really wants to play us.
One last thing, at the moment, I don't believe GVSU has anybody schedualed for a Non-conference game next year. Any chance the Sioux are still looking for games yet?

Hopefully the Sioux can shut these guys up, but if not, I'm going to become a UNO fan for the first time in my life. I'm tired of GVSU, and I'm tired of their crap schedule making it all but impossible for us to get homefield against them.
Crap schedual?? The GLIAC does us no favors when it comes to SOS. We went undefeated again this year and pretty much had no shot at getting the one seed in the region because the NCC has better SOS because you guys play non-conference games. And well, there's just not a whole lot of teams out there in D2 that are lining up to play GVSU right now anyways.

I hope they show it BUT there is a minor issue
Last years game was shown by Comcast Local in MI and the FSSN just grabbed that feed. No way they'd send Sweeney and a crew there for obvious reasons (they're already doing the UMD/Sioux games)
Hopefully the GVSU people get a crew to show it...god I don't see why they wouldnt show it.....now to get permission to show it on the FSSN
edit: I see Comcast Local is showing MI FB tourney stuff...hopefully there is still a crew in Allendale
Actually, I believe that is Indiana HS football championships I believe. Haven't heard about anything here on our end about broadcasting the game.

We're done with D2. It's a dead division that has been on life-support for over a decade. Caliber of play is generally horrible. The old D2 is really DI-AA (or whatever they call it now.)
Y'all ain't done with D2 yet. Ya got one more go around in the D2 playoffs, and the smart money would have the Sioux hooking up with the Lakers of Grand Valley State University. Our Caliber of play is just fine thank you very much.

Eh, its been a rough week. Yeah, still upset about 2001.
Personally, I wouldn't mind one more meeting between GVSU and UND, even have it up in Grand Forks as well. Somebody's gotta beat ya in the playoffs in the Alerus.

I thought his point was that if you live in Grand Forks, you get used to cold and snow. It's not as if GVSU is playing a team from Florida.
Right, people have been saying it works to GVSU's avantage because UND is a Dome team. Its not like you guys really practice all the time in there.

Once you get to the page, it appears you need to click on the far right side of the screen on the "GV Sports Network" Banner and go from there. You gotta register and it costs $6.95 from what I can tell.
Yeah, that sounds about right to me. I've never used it this season, but from what I've heard, it should work that way.

I believe that Auggy has already applied for membership to the NSIC already, and word has that the 3 Minnesota schools have been trying to talk the GLIAC into letting them in, and splitting it into divisions for football, as how the rest of the GLIAC sports are. I like the idea, and I've heard that the UP schools are pretty keen on the idea, Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan, and Lake Superior State*Non-Football*. Its only problem has been that the other schools think it would involve too much travel, especially for their other sports.

Just letting you guys know, I'm only a member of the said group, but I don't do any of the poking and harrassing. I only know what they've said on their little MB there. I perfer to only raise hell amoung other fans, not the players.

Yeah, from the sounds of things there, it sounds like the administration, and its brand spanking new president there, decided that they really didn't want the football team around anymore. They used the figures they had when from a year when they were flying out to the NCC schools every other weekend and tried to make it look like they using the economic downturn to ax the program.
I recommend taking a look at their website, and browsing some of the emails they've gotten from the administration. Seems their new president was kinda miffed about not having a big fancy welcoming ceremony thrown in his honor when he came to WWU. Personally, I wouldn't mind giving him an old fashion ceremony myself. One that involves a long 4x4, a couple of large lads, some rope and the moving of procidings to somewhere out of town.
