  1. Don't buy into what Gorde just said....He's trying to put a hex on the Sioux by calling them the favorite to win the NCAA...and now Geop-fart will not win the Hobey so Duncan has a chance...

  2. Roadtrip!!!!!!!!!!!!! Leave now! I can get to northern SoDak in 18 hours from SE TN, so you can make it!

Hey...it's only money...Seeing the Sioux crush the Gophers is still priceless (assuming of course they get to play each other)...

  3. Sioux caught themselves midway through the 2nd did a nice job of dominating the last ten minutes. Time to close them out with a solid third. Very good day to be a Fighting Sioux fan...

  4. seriously... that's brilliant, then we don't have to worry about players getting injured! Wanna make sure they stay healthy for the NHL. Also, then we only have to travel for one game, and our weekends will be freed even more to discuss polls and such. Great idea poo!

This has been tried - it's called the BCS Championship.

  5. just got off work, and have to admit the Sioux at least has a fire to win!!!!unlike my golden chokers wow I will just sit and watch as the gophers just chose to lay down the rest of the season I guess.....

Not to worry Hext...no matter how badly they play at the end, the Goofs will get their usual #1 seed in the region to ensure the cupcake first round game....HOLY CROSS, I hope they don't look too far ahead...

  6. I didn't see the game last night because of another commitment (Make-A-Wish Kaeroke)...however, I'm not surprised at the loss. My buddy who was at the game called me and told me that with the exception of the DOT line, they looked at bit slow, etc.

The Sioux have not had an answer to Denver's center-ice trap since the loss in the West Regions a few years ago. To beat the trap, it is essential that the Sioux have players (namely defenseman) that can carry the puck through center ice or make crisp, tape-to-tape passes once they are past the red line. I can only think of two such defenseman... Denver is simply stepping up defensive pressure in the neutral zone and forcing a pass that is picked-off at center ice. The shot totals from last night bear this out. You don't get many shots on net when you don't possess the puck in the offensive zone. On the other hand, Denver gets lots of shots and odd-man rushes because the Sioux forwards are always behind the play when the pass is picked-off at center-ice . Again, I didn't see the game but if it went like those of the recent past, it probably looked like the above.

To win tonight, the Sioux will need to be more aggressive and take a few more risks at center ice. Heck, a turnover is a turnover. I'd rather see something different than a picked-off 80 foot cross-ice pass. Of course, if they are going to cross the red line and dump it in, they better damn well win the race to the puck.

  7. Well I was drunk

    the day my Mom

    got out of prison.....

    ;)

    and I went out

    to pick her up

    in the rain...

    but before I could

    get to the station

    in my pickup truck

    She got runned-over

    by a danged ol' train...

    Altogether now...(gophers too)

  8. Every rink is 200 feet long. The width is the only different (85 feet vs. 100 feet).

Bina was about 2-3 feet in front of the Sioux goal red line, and the goal is 15 feet in front of the redline (per the NCAA rulebook).

    So that makes it: 200 feet - 15 feet - 15 feet - 2 feet = 168 foot goal.

Oh, well, then, don't bother. it wasn't that much. :glare:

  9. While you're at it, post the Bina hit of the game...he just levels the goofer (and one of his own too)...

A serious question about officiating: Do you think Campion will review the weekend's tape (especially the one he called when the puck was passed out of the corner and hit a goofer on the skate who promptly fell to the ice, untouched by the Sioux player), and think he could have eased up on the whistle a bit? Do you think that he'll think he called a very weak game? Or do you think that he'll say to himself that "things tend to even up and that I might have made a bad call or two, but I missed a few penalties too". What do you think his boss will say when watching the officiating in that game? Do you think the Gopher Boosters will send the check this week?

  10. Did John Hill just say that MN is still feeling the effects of the WJC?:glare:

All he could talk about was how young his team is...hey, the Sioux aren't exactly thinking about nursing home insurance...
