  1. maybe i missed it- but i didnt see helgeson throw a punch. the tech player threw half a dozen.
  2. you can find plenty of his ushl fights on youtube
  3. www.sportsgrid.com/uncategorized/michigan-tech-assistant-hockey-coach-tells-minnesota-head-coach-to-come-on-over/
  4. mariucci was "whining" back in the 60s? you cant appreciate a coach trying to build hockey in the US with US players? instead- his legacy to you is he was "whining" about coaches filling up ncaa teams with canadian players?? north dakotans fall over themselves when a local kid has passion for the sioux. same in MN- it just happens more often. if north dakota had enough talent to fill up the siouxs roster with north dakotas- and compete at a very high level- im sure youd take pride in that.. as a north dakotan.
  5. hes very talented. id have him on the powerplay without him "earning" it at north dakota first.. and obviously hak would too.
  6. and rocco earned his spot on the power play with his 1 assist on the year right?? LOL no he was assigned that role based on expectations, not performance.
  7. LOL whatever. yeah im sure that happened.
  8. thats the point big guy. and i said if forbort bolts. dont be THAT guy (ie grammar)
  9. GFG- i agree- but you have to assume kristos leaving after this year- dont you?? and forbort is a top 15 pick- he wont be around forever. if he bolts and blood leaves theres a defense thats very green on a team fully dependent on grimaldi/nelson/knight for scoring. only a month into this year so its not worth looking past 2011 but Im only saying.. with some early departures (which are more likely than not) Hak might have to pull a horseshoe out of his ... to win an NCAA title next year.
  10. true- Leddy was always in good defensive position. im not sure what hes done offensively in the NHL.. but I know he didnt do anything offensively last year in the world juniors.. I think he has looked best in the NCAAs. UND set the standard for recruiting mid round draft picks.. like 5'11- 6 foot. very few nhl prototypes and thats a recipe for the NHL allowing them to develop their good but not great skills and big but not huge frames. good skill and good strength = a great hockey player at the college level. Hak is getting an extension- if nothing else- for recruiting reasons.. just like Lucia was getting one, win or lose. but I agree with the other thread- this doesnt APPEAR to be a serious ncaa contender this year or next.. Hak might take some heat here coming up..
  11. Leddy was a joke in college?? THAT is a joke right?? And MN hasnt had anywhere near 5 players a year leave early over the last 5 years. Just going off the top of my head- this year Ness was the only one. Last year it was Schroeder Leddy and Birkholz... the issue hasnt been players leaving each offseason in groups of 5.. its been the one and dones over the last 5 years thats hurt (kessel. eric johnson. okposo. bickel. lofquist. leddy. birkholz...) The Sioux were spoiled with a big class all staying 4 years.. it almost never happens this day and age.. combine that with a couple recruiting blunders (st clair and JT miller) and theyre being brought down to reality. college hockey teams work in cycles.. BC and michigan are about the only 2 teams left that havent hit a lull since the new CBA and im sure theyre time is coming as well. the key is obviously winning a national title when the stars aline- and Hak hasnt managed that.. hence the frustration.
  12. then you dont understand the fact that minnesota kids want to play for the gophers. 15 year old kids now days were 7 or 8 years old when the gophs won back to back and dreamed of playing for them some day. and even after theyve missed the ncaas a few years now and the sioux have been right in the mix, the U of M still have minnesotas top recruits like aj michaelson and brady skjei committing. give it up. have you watched college hockey the last 10 years or just the last 3? that being said, i didnt intend to come across as a troll so ill quit posting here. good luck come october.
  13. fair enough, sioux force. and im not concerned about a tv deal- i just couldnt help myself at pointing that out after reading some of this thread. no way any college conference will be on versus. ill be thrilled if it happens. in regards to recruiting- kids that are from minnesota will still play for minnesota, duluth, denver, or nodak (maybe more michigan now). but the jt millers of the world may not. we will see. irish fan- like it or not the big ten does have Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan- those three are comparable to nodak denver and.. thats it. miami and CC are a step below. Michigan State is no joke either (see ncaa 2007 tournament). id say comparable to duluth. hockey east is right up there now. 3 great conferences. sioux fans are the new gopher fans if you think this new conference is any better than 2 great traditions and 4 sometimes in, sometimes out schools. as long as schools like bemidji and st cloud find a way, ill be satisfied with these changes (I guess).. should be fun to see how it plays out.
  14. hey there. first post here.. gopher fan at that. really surprised at how everyone here seems to think this new conference is going to help in recruiting. in terms of relevant teams, its the wcha minus Minnesota, St Cloud and Wisconsin plus Miami. if anyone is going to see a spike in recruiting here, its hockey east now that the wcha has split. in terms of the sioux- youll likely keep playing a very similar schedule to what you have been playing/will be playing these next 2 years (2 series each against CC, Duluth, Denver, Omaha, and Miami) plus problably one non conference series a year against Minnesota/Wisconsin (if you change your name), St Cloud, Bemidji, etc.. So the only difference I really see is Miami. And PLEASE tell me any hopes of a tv deal with versus is a joke.
