  1. How did Mattson look?

Does anyone know what is going on with his game. He was so well thought of at St. Johns then he disappeared as he surprisingly went undrafted in 09 and then again last year as well..

I'm guessing you meant Holy Angels and not St John's ;) . Mattson had a great high school career and is still very talented. I think the Hak and company recognized that he needed to work on a few things in juniors, namely not being shy about going into the corners. My guess is that he'll make big strides this year in Chicago. I'm anxious to see him skating for the Sioux in the fall of 2011.

  2. Michaelson is a forward. I'm not sure if you knew that and were just grouping him into players you'd like to see us get or not. But since we are discussing D, I wasn't sure why you listed him. Fasching is a D. Saw both him and Michaelson(and a bunch of other players) play last night in the Elite League.

To the person who asked about Evan's brother Hayden Trupp... Hayden is small and probably needs to get a little stronger before he can make it to college. He plays a similar game to Evan from what I've heard.

Fasching is not a D. Last night he was on a line with Michaelson and Justin Kloos (Lakeville South) and they were the best line on either team.

Lots of talent on the SE and SW teams. Molenaar is smooth, not at the Leddy level but very talented. I'm not sure if he'll spend a year in juniors before starting his college career. No surprise but Michaelson stands out; big and fast. Fasching has a big body compared to some of the other sophomores in the Elite league. Both Michaelson and Fasching will play for Apple Valley this season. I don't know if AV will be coming to the Stadstad tournament in again this year but if they do that would be a great time to check out a very good high school team. The Sioux are also looking at a third Apple Valley kid, Vince Pedrie (junior D).

  3. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good air show? I've never been to one so I'm looking for some advice.

I've heard good things about the annual show in Oshkosh and I know the Blue Angels are in Eau Claire this summer (I live in the Twin Cities so either of those would be reasonably close).

    Thanks.

  4. RIT is the most under rated program in the country. They are full of talent and have a great work ethic. No way they could lose Friday.

    Who are they anyway.

They are Rochester Institute of Technology and they are your second favorite team this weekend! :glare:

  5. It looks like we need to be RIT fans Friday night. If they lose their opening round game against Canisius we cannot flip with BC (at least I couldn't find a combination). But first things first....a Sioux win Thursday night!

  6. Does anyone know if there is a Pairwise "what if" calculator? The one on USCHO isn't up until March 14 and I didn't see one on CHN. I seem to recall reading one that someone from Cornell has one available.

    Thanks.

  7. Rau just got his hat trick. Fast and good with the puck and already has 30 goals this year. Wonder how many schools he is considering?

I was at his game last night (3rd time I've seen him this year). The kid is dynamic. I've been to many MN HS games over the years and Rau really stands out even against top competition. "tnt" stated that he is fast - that is an understatement. IMHO he's better as a junior than Danny Mattson was as a senior. Three words for Hak: please get him.

  8. The only one I have heard of so far is Madison Kolls from Hudson, WI. She is currently a senior at Shattuck -St Mary's.

Thanks for the update. Isn't there a goalie from Warroad coming in? Maybe that isn't official yet.

  9. From the UND Hockey Media Guide

    07-08: Rylan Kaip-C, Ryan Duncan (A), Taylor Chorney (A)

*Didn't Oshie wear the 'A' for a short time during a season or am I imagining things?

Thank you, MissSioux85. You are correct about Osh; he had the "A" taken away after his elevator incident.

  10. Does anyone know if Carl "Buddy" Boone played for the Sioux? He's on wiki's list of "Fighting Sioux in the NHL" but the hockeydb website doesn't show anything about him playing at UND. He was born in 1932 in Ontario and began playing professionally in 1952 so if he played collegiately it would have been in 1950 or 1951.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  11. Though it's early in the playoffs...top 3 in NHL +/- 1) Zach Parise 2) Jonathan Toews 3) Travis Zajac

Yesterday on XM's "Hockey this Morning" Pierre McQuire had this to say about the New Jersey-Carolina series..."Too much Parise, too much Zajac....too much North Dakota!" :D
