  1. Tim is a great announcer for Fighting Sioux Hockey, I've always enjoyed listening to him call a game, but his morning show with Swyg is nothing but a "duckies and bunnies" type of fluff show for Sioux athletics.

These guys still don't understand why fans wanted Rich Glas gone. They actually talked about Glas and how still should be at UND just a couple weeks ago. Get over it....its done with...move on....

  2. CRR-

You're wrong about Detroit going with another goaltender that will choke in the playoffs. The Wings signed Hasek, therefore ensuring that choking won't happen to Hasek, as by that time he'll be injured and out for the season. ;)???

I'm shaking my head at signing Hasek. He has proven to be so fragile, I really don't think their goaltending situation is very stable at this moment.

  3. As for the Swiss league, I thought it was widely assumed to be a more defensive league? I don't know. I am just not sure that Brady made the best choice by leaving UND for that league.

Widely assumed by whom? For it to be "widely" assumed, you must think a lot of people around here follow that league, which I don't think is the case.

He got a very good offer to go play over there, and he looked at his options and decided it was best for him. How much do you know about that league anyways? Been to a lot of their games? Read that nice website all the time?

I'm not sure we saw enough of his "healthy" games here to decide if he is an NHL player or not.

  4. Nah...what fun would it be to argue about sports when you can pretend to be a forensic accountant and argue about which school is in better financial shape.

True...and no offense meant to any forensic accountants, but I can think of a few more things to do with my day than to sit around and pretend to be a forensic accountant.

  5. is belfours son on he sioux goalie radar?? he will play for the jets in fargo and i believe was selected to the usa select team....sounds decent..anyone know?

from brad's sioux hockey extra blog

    http://www.gfheraldsiouxhockey.blogspot.com/

Our brothers from the Forum reported that Ed Belfour's son, Dayn, will play for the F-M Jets of the NAHL while attending Fargo North as a senior this year.

Dayn, a goaltender, was recently named to the U.S. Under-18 Select team, which will compete in Europe next month

Brad just quoted from the article that was posted above by DMT.

  6. RE: Belfour signing:

And that whoosh of air you heard was the collective fan base of the Red Wings releasing a huge sigh of relief.

They will go with yet another goalie who will choke in the postseason.

  7. As for the ROY, it was won on pure hype, as two Sioux alone were better RCs

Yeah, it was quite controversial with Kessel winning both the INCH and the WCHA race...and the nod from any and every other notable outlet in the country. However, I did hear Toews and Oshie tied for first in the Grand Forks Herald poll....of course....no other players recieved a vote...

    O.K......flame away

  8. i disagree. look at what the wild did at the beginning of last year. they were on a tear, scoring goals left and right. lemaire let them play a very offensive style until the team cooled down. last year, it didn't have the skill to keep that up all year long. but when the guys came out and were putting things in the net, lemaire had no problem playing an offensive game.

this year, he will have much more scoring power to work with and the wild will play accordingly. lemaire won his championship in jersey with a bunch of guys nobody thought could do anything and a great goalie. he took a bunch of rejects a couple years ago and took them deep into the playoffs in the teams 3rd year. he, and the wild organization, has said this year things will be different. and he's shown throughout his career that if he gets enough talented scorers he will easily run an offensive minded club.

Are you drinking the Wild Kool-Aid or what?

They say the same thing every year. They have actually been proactive and gotten some offensive talent, but Lemaire will reign that in midway through the season and they will play like they have the last couple of years.

They will be better, but I'm not sure they have a goalie who can win the big games they will need.

  9. It hasn't even started yet and I'm already wanting it to be over with.

It definitely didn't get off to a great start today, that is for sure.

  10. The defendent has the right to a speedy trial if he/she wants it. There's nothing that says a speedy trial is required. Because the outcome of this case could carry the death penalty, a speedy trial is obviously not in Rodriguez's best interest. And if he's found guilty, dragging out the appeals process as long as possible is a given.

Did I say anywhere in my post that a speedy trial was required?

I just think that it is a joke when some guy is found guilty and ten years later he is still appealing his case.

  11. I heard on today's noon news that the jury selection got postponed due to a computer glitch. Is it true or what really happened today?

If you heard it on the news, chances are, it is probably true.

According to the AP stories, the jurors who showed up today were all from Valley City. Of course the potential jurors are supposed to be at random, and therefore the computer glitch needed to be fixed.

  12. I guarantee you no matter how good a job they do there will be an appeal. It's sad but its whats become of our Criminal Justice System.

That is where I am at on this whole deal. I definitely want justice, but also want a fair trial. The only problem I have is it will take years upon years, even if he is found guilty before this whole thing is over with. If the jury finds him guilty, there will be an appeal, that will take years. I'm sorry, but we have a problem with way too many lawsuits and such clogging up our court systems. I'm not suggesting that this guy shouldn't get a fair trial and competent representation, but we also need to take a good look at our court system and its opinion of a "speedy" trial.

  13. wouldnt NJ have him come to their camp before signing him?? also, i wouldnt start saying congratulations to something that that is not confirmed yet...

    Are you talking training camp?

  14. Have you read all seven of the illinois.scout.com articles? I don't know how anyone with a serious interest in college athletics could read about how the NCAA has routinely abused its powers for decades and reach the conclusion that acquiescing to still more and even broader forms of abuse is a positive development for the association or its member institutions.

While I know that's not what you're advocating, that's what it comes down to, which is why I find your willingness to defend the NCAA so puzzling.

It isn't puzzling to me PCM, he would be on the opposite side of the issue that UND is on every time, just because it is UND.
