I agree, but I’d out Gordon in, it’s not working with JJ

Gordon does seem to be the best fit for this offense but we almost never see him. I've see Gee in more than Gordon.

You guys sure are pissed about a 14-14 game at half with our third string true freshman leading the offense. Time for Tommy to show us what he can do!

Yes actually because we were in complete control until our offense disappeared and our defense remembered they have no idea how to handle a running QB. Same issues as always which leads to being pissy.

Need to try a different back. Johansson just doesn’t have the quickness to hit a hole.

I might agree with you if there was ever a hole to hit. Offensive line can't run block of their lives depended on it.

  4. No call on the targeting but late hit is still BS. Maybe the officials can make it up by calling the holding that Sam Houston keeps getting away with on just about every run.

Sadly this is the high end of normal nowadays.

Can't fault Bubba for putting in Schuster, this offense is pass first and if he's the best option to throw the ball you have to go with him. Maybe we get lucky, Schuster gets comfortable and he just blossoms. Or he plays like a freshman and we have to rely on the defense to keep the clamp locked down.

  6. I've been disappointed with the strength program for the basketball team. The team never seems to add much size during offseasons. I'm not saying they should look like linebackers but seeing young players with very little gains from after a year or two is not a recipe for success.

  7. Disappointing to hear about Buxton, he's just so amazing defensively but he brings this team something else on offense. His speed on base was something that's hard to replace. Cave struggled but he has been playing better as of late. He's made some pretty good defensive plays lately too.

I was hoping to see Griebel do more returning. quick, shifty, and not going to get as many reps because we are deep at receiver.

I foresee him taking over more as the season goes on. I think the coaches put Wanzek back there to have someone sure-handed out of the gate.

  9. When UND was fielding winning teams in the D2 days the crowd was there (for the most part, minus a cakewalk Winona St. playoff game). To get the crowds, the team needs to win, plain and simple. Grand Forks will always be a hockey crowd but if the hockey team continues to struggle even they will lose crowd size because that's simply the nature of Grand Forks fan support.

JJ doesn’t have that speed anymore. And with Chappell, he didn’t have any competition so he never had to really open it up in the 100m. I’ve seen them both run in person plenty of times and Chappell had a different kind of gear.

Have to agree with the last part, Chappell had another gear where it looked like he wasn't even trying most of the time but every now and then you'd see that burst and he took it up to a higher level.

I highly doubt it was a protest game when there was a playoff spot on the line. I would’ve maybe believed it if there wouldn’t have been. No way they throw THAT game to prove a point.

Or that's the perfect time to throw it. Tossing a game at the end of the season with really nothing on the line can just mean a team has given up. Throwing in the towel with potential playoffs on the line is a conscious act of saying, "no more of this." Not saying it's for sure what they did, just gives it more weight if so. Regardless, Rudy never should have been the OC and he most definitely should not have been given that one extra year.

Well I can understand the frustration with the previous guy then if you all felt they weren’t even recruiting the right guys for their system.

There were no right guys for that system unless playing against inferior competition. The system itself was intensely flawed and led by an offensive coordinator that had no right being a D1 OC (didn't really even have success at lower levels). Even though Freund is brand new at it, I'm about 99% sure he'll be a vast improvement over what we had.

  13. Kett against UNA I felt was a protest game. It was plain to see a good portion of the offense was flat out done with the garbage that Rudy was having them run. That's how it felt to me outside of a couple players (seniors mostly) that gave everything they had because it was their last chance.

  14. I agree, let's not derail another thread with useless bison nonsense. If they want to brag about whatever it is they want to brag about, they can keep it to their own forum.
