A little disappointing how quiet the recruiting front has been lately. Win them, or lose them I would like to hear some answers on Hegerle, Larson and a few others.

Any news on streaming the ID State game?
I would think Pluto TV. Though there was talk about big sky moving to ESPN+, just not sure if that is effective this year or not.

With Vaughns improvement and running ability.....wonder if the Brockstar will be dwindled down even if he is healthy. I think Danny will still probably get Brock in there for some gadget plays and stuff though. Gotta love that defenses actually have to stress a little bit with our offense now. Just gotta improve on the deep ball some, and hopefully that will happen this year.
I think Danny may expand his trick plays a bit with Brock back.

Anyone know if the Grady Train will be at practice?

It could be that they may on only playing Orlando 4 games, as then he would technically be able to redshirt right? If Orlando isn't fully healthy and significantly better then I'd probably be ok with that. However I get what you are saying though, I think we all want to see what Orlando will do in there. If he does end up redshirting, I would think he would be an anchor and a monster in there the next four years.
If I were to guess, it would be because Orlando hasn't had an opportunity to do much or show much yet. Wasn't he fighting injuries in the Spring? I'm sure when coming up with the initial depth chart it is experience over potential, until they see how the two look in camp. Not going to be his spot until he earns it, which could very well be in the next few weeks. I don't really care who plays, so long as they play well. This team has finally started to deliver on its potential ... for so many years it seemed like we had potential but just couldn't get over the hump. Now we have made the playoffs two years in a row, finally have a playoff win, won the MVFC in our first season, and just see to have that "it" factor on the field. Bubba and Danny are doing a really nice job in building this program back to where it should be, and I'll admit, a few years ago I was ready to see Bubba walk; though that was more due to his inexplicable allegiance to Rudolph. Good things happening in GF, just need to keep building!

Well this thread is a hot mess. I thought this was a place to talk about the football season? Take your covid crap somewhere else, and let stick to the season.

Not really - I noticed some younger guys like Beau Foix, Reid Sanders, Caleb Doeden, Jack Ihry, Jacob Lindeman and Haley Bucholz (plus some others that I had known were gone through the spring). Don't see upper classmen like Brady Leach (maybe a bit of a shock), Hayden Reynolds, Bryden Swenson or Connor Kruse. WIth all the number switching it's hard to tell if I missed some or not.
One surprise that I didn't notice was the safety from SW Minn St - Lucas Fisher - that was coming in isn't on the roster, and looking at his twitter he said his recruitment is open as of mid-June. Maybe it was discussed and I missed it.
I know a few of those guys were PWO but does this open up any additional scholarships? I would have though Kruse and Reynolds maybe?

@Teeder11BTW will you be giving us your daily reports from camp?

I didn't see Greibel either. But may have missed something. Not a shocker, as Skokna appears to have PR locked down and is much better at it IMHO.
A guy I was really excited about when he committed, but he just never did a whole lot. Without knowing where he is going or what he is doing, I wish him the best of luck ... he seemed like a hell of an athlete. I think there were some injuries along the way, and we have recruited some nice talent at the position as well.

If we ran a 4-3 I would fully agree with you, but in the 3-4 the nose needs to effectively eat up two blocks on every play. I really do think an extra 10 lbs does make a difference. However, I am happy to see three guys at 290!
Beach looks like an absolute monster. Hope he can really step in and be a dude this year!

We all are enamored with the 300 pound lineman, and I believe that Tank was better at 305 than he was at 290.
But...we have 3 guys at 290.
Plus all of them play against a few 300+ OLs in practice.
Is 10 pounds that big a deal?
Reminds me of MLB. Batter hits 300 he's an all star; bats 290 and he's not.
Depends how you wear it, but yeah, I think 10 lbs can make a big difference, and mentioning Tank is a great example of why, unless the guy is a total freak athlete, which we probably aren't getting. We're still in a better position than we were a few years back, but if we want to solidify ourselves as a top D, we need more big guys. Look no farther than the NDSU game last year. a couple of 300 pounders that you can rotate to keep fresh, would have helped a ton in plugging up holes and slowing down the Luepke kid. Would have made a big difference against JMU too, though it was a different running style.

From what I read, he's got elite skills but some real rough spots in terms of a complete game (like work in his own end, setting up team mates, making good decisions). Oh well...
Sounds more like a Gopher type player then.

ok, well I've had enough of the vaccine debate.... on to actual football talk.

This class is bound to be smaller given the extra eligibility year so I'm pleased with how it's shaping up so far. Let's close it out with a majority of Hegerle, Larson, Schweigert, a QB (a must every year), RB, WR(if not Hegerle), and a big bad NG.
I’d like the RB from Holy Angels.

Pretty strange that Boltmann still might now be ready for the season. What is he dealing with? Hoping for the best, but even if he sees the field ... I'm not convinced he won't find himself re-injuring whatever this is.

A little concerned we aren't hearing more here. Any thoughts on when we might see some more kids giving their verbals?

So last year Weah burst onto the National FCS scene, and Schuster in a sense did as well as a freshman QB. Both had as good of or better years that we expected, even though we expected a lot of them going into the year. Belquist was probably the biggest surprise of last year, I don't think anybody thought he would have the production he had. So my question is, who or whom will be the player(s) that will take that leap this fall and become a much bigger contributor than they had in the past?
Hopefully a Noseguard, or new receiver with SPEED! ... or both

Honestly, I haven't seen a worse HUDL yet. Other than 6'7" what in the hell are we looking at?
I haven’t watched it, but trust your comments, so that’s pretty concerning. Must have been at camp and did something right.

Plot twist: my football guy said UND only offered a PWO as well. Let's get BV updated to reflect that.
Doesn't surprise me. I don't think there are many scholarships to go around at the moment, given that we retained a few people with the Covid rule.

Noriega committed to a PWO to NDSU tonight.
Seems like they have had a lot of commits already, while still hoping for some big ones. After hearing about how young their team was all Spring, I wouldn't think they would have room for a very large class with the Covid rule. I wonder if they are not retaining any Seniors, or if they are making cuts.

I think they got Beers too. That would have been a fun one to get.

What's even more telling is how he hasn't committed to them already.
I think he is waiting for some big schools to offer before he commits anywhere.
Whether he next choice is UND, NDSU or elsewhere ... only Hegerle knows that. There is something to be said for family connections, but that isn't always enough for a kid to make a decision. What type of experience have they had on campus? Did they connect with the players they have met? What do they envisions as their role on the team? Playing time? Development? Offensive/Defensive scheme? Coaching?
When I was visiting schools, it just clicked for me. UND had something that I didn't get on other campuses. Only time will tell, but I would love to get Hegerle, Larson and Gilman .... that, in addition to who we already have, would be a homerun class.

I would agree with this. We have tended to finish strong in recent years.
