  1. Anything less than 4 points is unnacceptable this weekend. I'm sure the boys won't dissappoint. I would love to see Tate get in goal too; similar to when Walski played against Bemidji State a few years back. I'm pretty sure he posted a shutout too, anyone remember?

  2. I'd love it if you were right; but, unfortunately, if forced to bet I'd bet the under.

Can you imagine how much more fun it would be to have football right there on campus for the students, right next to the dorms and the fraternities, with that huge parking lot for tailgating. It would really improve student turnout, as well as give even more of a good college atmosphere to the game. I guess we can dream...

  3. Whether it was a joke or not, kids need to know where the line is; and that line seem to be dissappearing within society. There is just no excuse for this, and the kids should suffer some sort of reprecussions, probably a suspension. What they don't realize, is when this kind of image gets out, it reflects the individuals, the school, the team, the city, even the state. Pretty dissappointing show from the students; if I did something like this, I wouldn't be worried about any punishment from the school, but rather how my parent would handle it. Not good!

  4. Would love to see Helgeson or Serratore destroy Rocco in a corner this weekend, get a corner named much like Kevin's corner up in Grand Forks.

I'll give Kevin this, at least he wasn't afraid to go into the corner and get the puck like alot of guys.

  5. So Rocco had no shots in Saturday's game vs. CC. That may be a huge benefit going in to Mariucci. Last time Rocco had a bad game was in the World Juniors Tourney, and we all saw how he rebounded from that. This kid is going to be highly motivated to bounce back. Could be a big weekend for Rocco! Go Sioux!

  6. The last two play calls of that came were both individually the worst and second worst calls in the history of UND football. What in the world?

Agreed, I'm done defending Muss after that game. That was absolutely pathetic. Poor game by Hanson, but ultimately that loss in on Muss. I would have been much happier kicking and missing the field goal for the loss instead of watching UNC take a knee to end the game.

  7. There might be something to this in some cases -- the eye is now accustomed to HD, and some people may also need to adjust the settings on their televisions. But enough people have voiced issues that there's probably more to it than that in many cases.

It was a part of the contract that Midco will convert to HD by the 2014-15 season, but Katie Hale has confirmed via Twitter that the conversion will actually take place prior to next season. This is very good news, and hopefully underlines Midco's commitment to delivering the best possible product for its viewers.

HD would be great ... Now we just have to hope that UND Athletics can figure out some sort of contract so that those of us in Mpls and around the country can watch games other than the few that will be on Versus. I absolutely love watching all of the homes games on Fox College Sports, and last season it was great to be able to watch Basketball and Football.

Like I said, HD would be great, but I just want to be able to see the games. Here is to hoping UND can setup a solid tv contract with someone.

  8. In Mussman's 5 seasons the team as a whole has markedly regressed. Our receiving corps is good, but that's about the only area of promise for the future right now. The only way one could claim the team is improving is by saying we're much improved from 2009. Well if being better than a team that lost to (and was flat-out beaten by) the University of Sioux Falls is the mark of what we expect from UND football, then I guess UND will never have another good football team. Sioux Falls would probably put up 30+ points on our defense this year. Excellence must be demanded. Also, people have been calling for Muss to get fired for a long time.

We allowed 55 points, I think the problems lie moreso on the other side of the ball.

This sounds like a Mussman quote. I'd rather we start winning than turn into a competitive conference doormat like Northern Colorado. What has Mussman done to earn patience? Going "toe to toe" in losses to good teams at home while getting slaughtered on the road? The attitude displayed after the Montana win was somewhat embarrassing. Was it an exciting finish? Yeah. Was it a good conference win? Yeah. Was it the biggest win of the D1 era for UND? Against a team that is 2-4 in conference play..... I hope not.

Its our first year in the conference and we have played how many top ten teams?! Did you think we would walk right through the schedule. Give it a season or two ... and I would not say the team has regressed that much, as much as we have face much more competitive teams. Keep in mind it was much more difficult to recruit during the transition period. I think that for a first season of being playoff eligible we have shown a lot of ups and downs. Not saying Mussman is my favorite coach, but I don't think we should be calling for his head yet either.

Yes, you are correct, yesterdays loss shows more than a need to beef up our O line; though that would have helped on offense. Obviously our D needs some work, that has been apparent through multiple games this year. Although I talked to a relative who was at the game (Big Montana St fan) and he said that was one of the best games he has ever seen them play; said they just look very solid coming off a bye week and a loss.

Anyway, I think the team needs some work, but they certainly show some promise.

  9. It'd be a miracle to get one of those now.

Pretty much ... just making the tournament would really be fun to watch though. Even as a Sioux fan I had a fun time watchiin the Bison compete against KU a few years ago, and they actually had a legitimate chance of winning that game. It'll happen eventually!

  10. Is this thread for real? Guy is in his first season with arguably the toughest FCS Conference, where we have played SDSU, E Washington, N Arizona, Montana State; and just beat Montana (I know its been a rough year for the Griz); and people are already calling for Muss to get fired. We have a top notch receiving core, a good interim QB, a decent back QB and a top QB recruit. All today told be was that we need to beef up our O line.

With the exception of maybe two games this year, we have been very competitve, and showed alot of promise. This coach and this team have earned our patience as fans. I for one have not been this in to watching UND football since I was a freshman in college and we lost to Grand Valley State in the National Championship game '03.

Not that Muss or any of the player are readying this, but just in case ... you guys are doing awesome, keep improving and keep doing what you're doing! GO SIOUX!!

  11. Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if UND football will be available on Fox College Sports again this year? I live in the Mpls area and was able to get the games on TV last year, but I couldn't find the game against SD Mines last week. I know the games can be seen on the big sky website, but if there is a TV broadcast that would be nice.

I think it was usually FCS Central that played showed football, hockey, basketball and UND Sports Extra. Has that changed?

    Go Sioux!

  12. Dell attended Montreal's Prospects Camp earlier this month and it sounds like Montreal is hosting another camp this week. A Habs blogger speculated that Montreal may want to test a few more goalies before offering a contract.

Otherwise we will have Gothberg, Saunders and Maris

What year with Saunders be? He should fit in pretty well with this team. Hope I am proved wrong and that is ends up being a strength and not a weakness this year.

  13. Gothberg may be better than Dell right now...or better. I'm guessing at some point during the year Gothberg takes the job no matter who is on the team.

I hope he is that good. I have heard nothing but good things about him, though it would be nice to have Dell's experience back for one more year until Gothberg gets comfortable.
