  1. I have heard from a VERY reliable source that Rory Manke has made a decision, and is going to be attending UND.
  2. I have some new information regarding Rory Manke. First of all, Nebraska WAS pretty high on him until he ran about a 5.1 40 at their camp last summer. I think that kind of turned them off to recruiting him. I can guarantee he is faster than that, but maybe weather and just having a bad day running had alot to do with it also. Im not really sure though. NDSU wants Manke to play QB, and UND wants him to play d-back. NDSU has him as one of their top 3 recruits across the board. Although if he signs with UND, they would never admit that. He really liked the OC at NDSU, Dan Enos, who has since left to go to Cincinatti. I think that will have an effect on Rory's decision. But also remember that his recruiting coach at UND was Tom Dosch, who has since left to be HC at Jamestown. According to Manke's HS coach, he would almost prefer to play d-back in college, which will help the sioux in recruiting him also. I have heard that Manke is going to make his decision on where he will attend by the end of this week. Should be interesting. Come to UND Rory, we are your family.......literally.
  3. An Education at the Agricultural Technical College in Fargo (AKA ndsu) = the equivalent of driver's training for combines and tractors
  4. UND 92,96 Shad Carney will be back for spring ball after a year at a community college in AZ. I understand that he has improved since he left, and could possibly challenge for the starting job, if not, for sure the backup job. Should make things interesting. I'm glad he came back, because he has potential. He gave the UND defense of 2001 fits in scouts everyday.
  5. i want whatever drugs this guy is having.......maybe it will make all my problems go away too, and then maybe I also can live in dreamland.
  6. UND 92, 96 you are correct, Cooper Harris was a GA when I was at UND. he is a Pitt St. alum.
  7. you failed to mention Marvin Harrison, and groves of NFL d-backs also. will allen is the first that comes to mind. way off topic, but i just had to get in my 2 cents on the matter. back on topic.
  8. thanks tugnutt, thats what i meant. CMU is d1-a.
  9. Brian Kelly is leaving GVSU to be the head coach at Central Michigan. Thats a pretty big jump from d2 to d1-aa. i assume he will do well there also. he is a very good coach.
  10. yeah, thats my worry too. we have to try and replace the BEST d-backs coach in d2 football, hands down. teaching d-back technique like only bubba knows how will be a very difficult task to replace. i wonder who is going to assume the d-back responsibilities? he turns average football players into good and sometimes great players just by teaching them the proper footwork and techniques. he is truly an amazing d-back coach. now dosch is gone too? dammit, again!! coach dosch is very valuable too, both as a recruiter and a coach. he was very flexible in that he could coach both the d-line and OLB's. he will also be sorely missed. coach dosch was the recruiter in the TC metro area, so it will be interesting to see how that unfolds with the recruits this year.
  11. WHO?
  12. I am surprised that Chris Erdmann, QB from Crookston, hasnt been mentioned at all so far on this thread. That kid is a flat out PLAYER. He has a big-time, strong arm and is a very good, elusive runner as well. I have seen him play in alot of games in high school, and he is a great competitor. I hope that UND really tries hard to at least bring him in. He would probably be a cheap recruit as far as scholarship dollars are concerned. He would be a steal for UND, I guarantee it. There is no doubt in my mind that he can physically compete in the NCC. Hopefully he doesnt go anywhere else. If anyone has heard anything regarding him, please feel free to post it.
  13. I believe Bubba's recruiting territory was all of ND. If not all, for sure the western half of the state. He may have had more territory that i am not aware of, but I know he was our ND recruiter for sure.
  14. DAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!
  15. good to hear we signed the caulfield kid from minot. sounds like he's got great potential. 6-2 and 190 as a high school senior WR is very impressive. i hadnt heard much about him before this, but it sounds as if he is a going to be a good recruit. keep up the good job with the updates UND 92,96. i love to hear about stuff like this when we are recruiting. you do a very good job finding this information and posting it for us. GO SIOUX!!
  16. As far as size at RB goes, look at Brandon Strouth. Dressler cant be that much smaller than Strouth is. Strouth has been a pleasant surprise to me for the FB program. I think Dressler could make similar types of contributions.
  17. oops, sorry i didnt see that before. i should have looked harder. nothing like multiple threads about the same topic. my bad
  18. does anybody have any idea what the status is of this kid? first he is playing FB and BB, then just BB, and now i havent heard his name once for BB. i understood that he would be a huge addition and an instant contributor this year. What's the scoop? Anyone?
  19. i dont believe that Alkins is in school, but i could be wrong. Tom Irvin has a year left if he wanted, but unfortunately he will not return. imagine our LB's next year if he would have decided to return.
  20. Ranson is back huh? i wasnt aware of that. that is good because he is an excellent athlete. i guess he was an amazing baseball player with a hose for an arm. possibly was drafted out of high school, not sure. he should have an impact next year. from what i have heard recently, i dont believe that Alkins will return because of academics. Ott may be moved to a different position because of how big he has gotten, possibly defense. I also really believe that Groeschel will remain at WR. Bowenkamp is back next year, and Belmore will probably be his backup, as he is the best of the 3 in that QB class. having Groeschel's atheticism on the field is neccessary, and i believe WR is where we will find him. those are just my thoughts and what i have heard.
  21. the battle that i am really looking forward to seeing is in the secondary. at cornerback, we have Manke, Hoffschneider, Franklin, and RS Frosh Donovan Alexander. I forgot to mention Mike Greenwood, who is also a very good player. Franklin was said to be the the best CB in fall camp this year, but was academically ineligible. Alexander, was THE top recruit for UND across their board, and is an outstanding athlete. Manke will be the senior, and Hoffschneider is coming off a very good season for a freshman. There are some tough decisions to be made in the secondary. Also, at safety we have Gagner, Brandsted and Desautel. Gagner will start for sure, he's earned it. I'm not sure who will come out of fall camp between Desautel and Brandsted however. should be interesting. No lack of talent or depth at these positions, that's for sure.
  22. Verk62, i wanted to say this to you quite a long time ago, but i figured you would back off a little because you were an ex-teammate of mine. now i HAVE to confront you on this. i cant believe how much negativity you spew on this board. you are a sioux alum and an ex-player, start acting like it. you are giving ex-players a bad name by acting like you are. i played with you, so i know who you are. the scout awards are garbage and biased? i got scout player of the week a couple times, and i wasnt even close to being a highly-touted, full-scholarship recruit. i could probably name some other similar instances also. so my point is that it DID happen when you were at UND. why would you call a fellow sioux fan a "dumbass" for no apparent reason? since i went up against juhasz and J.O. EVERYDAY in practice, i feel that i have some sort of grasp on that issue that you mentioned earlier. J.O. is a good friend of mine, but he was not faster than Juhasz, nor did he get "screwed" out of playing time. Juhasz, Graf, Schlesner, and Holmquist all deserved to be on the field before he did. thats a pretty good list of receivers to be behind on the depth chart, nothing to be ashamed of. i also didnt even mention a young Jesse Smith. look in the record books, and you will find all of them, except holmquist, who was a fourth reciever. J.O. just got a late start at that position, and he didnt really have a good enough grasp of the offense for the coaches to have him in there. he WAS a very good athlete however. you can disagree with people on here if you like, everyone has their opinion. but the way that you do it is just blantantly negative and despiseful. i sometimes wonder if you are still a sioux fan. from one former teammate to another, just please dont be so negative and harsh to UND and to the fans on this forum. disagreement is fine, just do it in a classy manner. 23. bison1234, i live in minneapolis and read the ST everyday. IMO, Sid is scenile and outdated in his knowledge for sports today. i sometimes often just look down and shake my head at some of the things he says. pure disbelief. that's just my take on him.
  24. so you have never been wrong or posted anything that hasnt been true? i find that hard to believe. never made any predictions that were wrong? never made any comments that you thought were fact, but werent? IMO, message boards are full of non-facts. i made a mistake. you just went off the deep end a little in correcting me, considering the importance of the subject we were talking about.
  25. PCM, i dont doubt that you and airmail are right about that. my mistake. the alerus still has never done ANY favors for UND. thats my point.
