Dam Strait is doing a poor job second quessing SDSU. They knew that finding a conference would take time and its starting to come together. They have hardly given up as easy as Dam Strait would have. What other choice is there but to go forward. You can stay D2 and go backwards, but that is not what SDSU has in mind. Just check with President Miller. As far as the business community in Omaha is concerned they are mostly fair weather fans. If you got a winner they love you and if you stink like their men's basketball team did before McKenna arrived, you play to an empty Gym. The Huskers seem to be the choice of Omaha business. UNO will have to gain the controll of the board of regents in order to move up to D1AA. Remember Coach Mueller before Behrans, another winner who played before an empty Canilliga field. So much for that loyal following in Omaha. It stinks.

What is not mentioned is that Newberry is affliated with Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It appears they are in worse shape then say Dana College in Blair Nebraska. Roger Thomas being a good Lutheran probably offered a good guarentee, and this trip will be good for kids playing on the field. The talent down in the South East is abundant, and they could surprise the Sioux. You never know, but I dont think so. The fact that Newberry is classifed D2 in NCAA, makes them probably a more worthy opponent then say Augsburg, St Olaf, Concordia-Moorhead or Gustavas Adlophus who are D3 ELCA affliliated schools. I dont think UND will have any problem putting this game away.

Don't you think Montana fans might have some interest in that? No they really dont have much interest in any of the Dakotas, not even the beloved UND Hockey prorgam, much to your disappointment PCM. They(Montana U) don't not have hockey and they care not to have hockey, so why would they care a hoot and a holler about what Bob Holliday has to say about Missoula and their football staduim. What Bob was saying was that U of Montana is not that far aheard of NDSU in facilities. Although I like the Bitter Root Mountains, Bob does not but prefers the Idaho beauty. A matter of choice and taste. The fan from UND was trying to start a forrest fire on the Egriz board and it did not work. So are we still the very sensitive and considerate UND fans that love hockey?

If UND wants to stay D2, thats your choice, but why is there all this second guessing of SDSU and NDSU's choices of making the move to D1AA. Its like something is being threaten in UND land. Whats the problem with these gung ho Hockey fans?

Yes Star2City. It does say sometime after July 14th, but IS this trip to Orem the first point of business? I doubt it. It could be months before The Comish or his committee gets to Orem. So how do you conclude that SDSU and NDSU are left out? Why would they discuss other potential future members SDSU and NDSU in an article about UVSC? So the fact that they are not mentioned does not mean that visits to Brookings and Fargo are not on the agenda. So dont try to make this move to D1 a hopeless situation. It is not. Everyone moving up to D1 has problems finding a conference. So dont give SDSU and NDSU THAT "I told you so" attitude, its too early to throw in the cards. Your criteria above is about as helpful as a f**t in a space suit. Good Luck in D2, UND.

STAR2CITY SAID THE BELOW: When are NDSU and SDSU getting site visits by Mid-Con brass? Utah Valley State College in Orem (27,000 students) is apparently getting an inspection visit later this month by the Mid-Con: Re-read the article. It says the Mid Continent commissioner starts his job July 14. It does not say that they have any planned trip to UVSC. Likewise much to your disappointment, it does not say that the Mid-Continent is not interested in NDSU or SDSU, nor does it say that Mid Continent Commissioner will not waste travel funds going to Brookings and Fargo.
