  1. great job UND. two "little DII schools" win the men's and women's ncc conference tourney.
  2. und92,96 many husky fans feel the same way as you. of course we want them in the regional but do we belong in the regional? until a month ago i would have said yes. now i would say no. the end of the season was pathetic to say the least. scsu and others in the "new" ncc better kick it up a notch to give UND a challenge in womens basketball. ncc mens basketball and football will be good but i am a little worried about the state of ncc womens bb next year.
  3. siouxatc i would agree with you about scsu. it has to be the victories against the #1, 2, 4, and 5 ranked teams. there must be enough points in the formula for scsu to be #8. buy yes, siouxatc it seems as if the should not.
  4. corella- you are right that networking plays a big part in recruiting. on that note, winkelman played football for forrest witt's dad at morris and forrest was a standout for the huskies last year. both UND and scsu could really use him. good luck to the kid at whatever university. (hopefully scsu )
  5. there was an article in the st cloud times about st thomas and a possible move to dII (ncc) and dI hockey. at that time ust said the are not moving up as of yet due to the rivalrys the have in the miac. if the wanted to move up they would not have a problem fielding 36 football scholarships due to wealthy alumni and booster that do give heaps of money to minnesotas largest private university. this attitude of giving is drilled in thier heads from the moment they step on campus. 9000 students i believe. would they be a good fit, absolutley. as far as streching the ncc territory, i dont know if i like that. yes there are quality teams in the miaa but frankly i don't think most of the ncc wants of needs the extra travel time and expense. if the miaa is losing a few teams maybe uno should look at the miaa. uno is a great school with good programs but again it is many, many miles away. there are quality schools minnesota that can fill the void. of course, my opinion is coming from central minnesota and not omaha. if UND and usd move up i could see all minnesota schools and augie in a conference. would it be a lower level of competition than the old ncc? overall i would say yes. but i don't care. the old rivalrys would be renewed and life would go on. how about campared to next years ncc? not really. the nsic is on the rise as a whole but umc has to go.
  6. is there a site that says how many scholarships a college football program offers. does anybody know how many scholarships are offered for each ncc and nsic school.
  7. jackguy-the sightlines in parts (then ends)upper deck do stink and where you can cee the whole court there is the railing. and you are right i thing we do have a good following for basketball. i think because the football crowds are usually lame people who have not been to halenbeck think the same of our bb crowds. when the nd schools come to st cloud UND brings twice the crowd that ndsu does. maybe there are more alumni in the metro area or something. sdsu always has the best following. and talking to some msu fans last week they said we bring the most to bresnan.
  8. phoenix- the link you have posted is a racist organization isn't it? i have never heard of them. i do have a question for somebody that knows something about native americans. this conversation came up last night AGAIN, but wasn't the word sioux (or snake) an insult for somebody that is lakotah(sp)?
  9. good point corella, home attendance figures ndsu 2236, scsu 2703, UND 2799
  10. bisonmav-reggie would say the bsa is tough. you remember him? scsu was loaded back then. but i never felt it was intimidating. augie is cozy but not usually that good. mankato is nice but could have the most silent fans in the ncc, the atmosphere is dead. now i know that i am a scsu fan but i think you have halenbeck hall ranked too low. now i know we lost to ndsu this year but we don't lose at home too often and when you get 4500 fans it can get loud in there. bison1234 what are you takling about. st cloud is more of a hockey town but we have a good following for basketball considering there are many other sports fans that travel to mpls for games.
  11. 1. SDSU -Frost is a no-brainer 2. SCSU -Halenbeck Hall 3. NDSU -BSA is a dump but is working for them 4. USD -Students can get on you 5. MSU -The 2nd nicest gym in the NCC but fans sit on their hands 6. UND -REA is the nicest arena in the NCC but too big to make any noise Hyslop would have been #2 7. Augie ? 8. UNO -YUCK
  12. They have the best band in the WCHA and some great traditions and cheers. I really like the singin of Varsity (UW Alma Mater). Its what I consider a great "college" atmosphere.
  13. Bisonfan1234 you are so easy! And Wyobisonman, you are suprised at this type of action? Are you new to the NCC?
  14. The entire NCC knows NDSU has no class. They will not be missed. SDSU on the otherhand has great fans and I will miss going to Frost Arena. I have never heard a bad thing about their fans and programs. I got railed on the bisonville board for this but after the football game NDSU threw away down at St Cloud. A man (with his wife and kids) started cussing at me because he did not like our conversation about the game. Then two drunk NDSU students were in the face of a older gentleman wanting to fight him. Security broke that one up. But I really liked the way SEVERAL NDSU fans pounded on the windows of the refs minivan when they were trying to "escape". NICE! And this all happened on the way to the car. At first I thought maybe it was just me overreacting but as the week went on I heard story after story and complaint after complaint about the hoard of NDSU fans that day. I don't know if DIAA knows what type of program and fans they are in for.
  15. SCSU recruits http://condor.stcloudstate.edu/~sports/football/recruit.pdf
  16. Marty- This has been some of the most stupid conversation in the history of the net. Is that all you have, "Sioux-per Hotdogs"? WOW!
  17. I would think 4000 seats would be much too small for UND's new BB arena. SCSU has had 2 or 3 crowds over 4000 this year and I would think UND's larger following, they would pack a 5000 seat new arena. I saw us play UND at REA and that was too big to fill but 5000 would be nice. Are the seats in "The Betty" going to be the same as REA? For such a great, 1st class, beautiful arena, the seating stinks. Everybody is on top of each other, there is no leg room, and the seats are very small.
  18. Yes, you are comparing two nicknames. One is a dog that has no clue, and one one is a human. And you are also correct on the fact that many people feel the are smart who attend private school.
  19. I don't think it is a thing of being in favor of or against a specific policy. WE JUST DON"T CARE. If our administration has a view, and 20 protestors out of 16000 students has a particular view on a issue, so be it. UND has a legal right to have the mascot so what is the issue? Also I don't see an outcry of support at UM or SCSU to say the word Sioux over the PA. I can see how that is viewed as disrespectful of UND. And I can see how the Sioux (or a number of them) find the use of their name as a mascot as disrespectful. I guess that is the business of UM or SCSU. AGAIN I AM NOT FOR OR AGAINST THE USE OF THE SIOUX NAME.
  20. I am always following this board and could care less about the mascot issue. I had to read this post because it was about SCSU. Who is stupid Marty? You! How in the hell can you compare two dogs to a race of people. Iwould never say UND fans are stupid because I know too many that are good people. You wrote this in jest (i assume) but there are usually two sides to an issue, and I am not in a posistion to tell you or anybody else what should offend them.
  21. the last time i was at memorial it was when todd bouman ran in a last second td for a scsu win. that was a blast. i still remember how perplexed i was at the back rest rentals. what a great idea. indoor vs outdoor, scsu tried for a indoor staduim and it lost in a close vote. we are funding the new stadium through student fees and private donations. hey, you should have put a retractable roof on the alerus.
  22. Corteau-I was just kidding. I should have put a smiley in my post.
  23. RIGHT ON NDSUGRAD. I VERY MUCH ENVY THE FAN SUPPORT FOR NDSU AND UND. I THINK WE REPRESENT WELL FOR BASKETBALL AND I KNOW WE HAVE A HUGE FOLLOWING FOR HOCKEY. THIS IS A TOUGH MARKET.
  24. A question, Is a athletic departments bubget the same thing as the athletic departments revenues? And by the way Title IX stinks. Its intent is good but it has gone too far. Womens hockey is a black hole. The law should include some fiscal responsibilty. Also, somebison that was a great link to athletic departments revenues.
