Parise had a goal and an assist today. Zajac had two assists in an old fashion beat down of Dallas. By the way: I think Brodeur may be a good goaltender. Toews had an assist thus far. Maybe more. His pass to Sharp was simply beautiful. Oh, and in less than pleasant news, Brian Lee was sent to the AHL today. Perhaps due to lack of playing time. I don't know... he hasn't exactly done much offensively.

I figured out where our friend Jeff Dubay has been

I'd still like the college hockey talk. Down here in Omaha, there is no such thing. Husker football or nothing. -

Speaking of one whose career I'd wish would fade into the sunset (through retirement...NOW). Sorry, I'd rather listen to Dubay than the Hack...I mean Hawk. -
drew stafford played really well tonight. Scored the game tying goal and a goal in the shootout

It would be funny if someone asked our Custer mascot about his stance on the Sioux. I'd roar in laughter if he responded: "The Sioux? Well, I'd reckon they're out there somewhere. Go ask them!"

omahasioux- Do you mean me as far as a troll?

You know, I think I'll go with: UAA vs. UMD -> Split UMN vs UW -> UMN Sweep SCSU vs BSU -> I'd love to say split, but BSU has yet to win this season. I can't imagine them getting #1 vs. SCSU. SCSU Sweep CC vs. Clarkson -> Please. CC EASY sweep tOSU vs DU -> DU Sweep U18 vs MTU -> MTU in OT Oh! There is no way the Sioux will lose this weekend and there is no way MSU will win!

Maybe not, but it would prove the point "It could always be worse." Chief- If we became the Fighting Cavalry, perhaps we can have some guy dress up as Custer, ride out into midfield, and thrust a bayonetted replica Civil War era rifle into the emblem.

This thread is entertaining. Ed Schultz is a putz. He is about as likeable as Rush Limbaugh. However, nowadays, more people are apt to give Eddiepoo a pass because it's in to hate Republicans or Conservative beliefs. Ed IS the democrat version of Rush except I'd argue that Rush has a bit more personality and a little more of a sense of humor. Both are equally off the deep end when it comes to their political beliefs though. But now Eddiepoo can't complain about republicans not wanting to hear differences of opinion. They brought him in and when a difference of opinion was voiced, he took a walk. There is no such thing as objectivity in news any longer. Objectivity is bland and boring. Boring doesn't make ratings. So, they "spice it up." Foxnews gets ridiculed because their spin is different from CNN's, whose news is still somehow the Gold Standard. It doesn't help that Murdoch is a psychopath either. Turner, by the way, is no angel either. Foxnews won't do what CNN and MSNBC have done: embraced Obama as the great hope. Yeah, the only thing left for CNN and MSNBC is a downright endorsement. Likewise, I'm sure there is plenty to point Foxnews as being pro-McCain. In any case, I'm sure the election will reflect the pandering. I still don't know who I'm going to vote for because I have no idea who is telling the truth and what the candidates truly believe in. The media spins what is said to suit their own needs. I watch the local news now.

The skaters being shaky is surprising to me as far as UW is concerned. As for the tender being subpar, I've never been too impressed with Connelly. I think he's a step back from Bruckler and Elliot. UW's D will right itself. Their offensive numbers are still pretty good, which is surprising. I just hope they don't right the ship until after we play them.

Sorry, but I'm not sad on this one. The Devs are my second favorite NHL team behind Detroit. Chicago is a close third. But I'll root for Washington before I'll root for the Rangers (sorry PCM if you still lurk) or Pittsburgh (this one confuses me. I don't know why I don't like Pittsburgh.).

It's odd that we play poorly on Friday and good on Saturday. And it makes little difference who is in net. Congrats to BE, but more importantly, good character win for the Sioux. We came back from behind and we did it with special teams. I don't know where we will be going and it certainly is a tough road for us to travel, but I think the first win is huge for this club. It's going to be a ride.

Precisely. It doesn't matter what we say. We could be the "Peaceful Sioux" or the "Graceful Sioux" or the "Awesome Sioux." It won't matter. The word "Sioux" is being used and the ultra-PC and the tribal elders won't care. This is their chance to dictate policy and make some waves. It may not be the most positive way to do it, but the victim card will be greatly reinforced by this victory.

Look at it after the fact, I'm not exactly sure why I posted that. Maybe it is because I like Drew Brees (followed him since he played at Purdue). Maybe because I abhor awful football games. And Slap Shot is right. I loathe all sports in Minnesota (for the most part).

Kindof like my philosophy. However, we did that against UMass, didn't we? We outshot them 42-16. That being said, the more time spent in our offensive zone, the less time spent in our defensive zone. That has to be good.

Not so sure about the swapping of goalies contributing to lack of confidence. Up until last year, we had a goalie rotation for a very long time. I don't think it affected confidence. What I think DOES affect confidence is the fact that neither goaltender is experienced. There is a break-in period for both goaltenders and we're not in a position (due to PWR and the shortness of the season) to be able to allow them to gain experience without possibly losing position. And yeah, if you are on the PP, you should get at least 1, maybe 2, scoring opportunities per PP and give up ZERO short handed rushes. All in all, I feel we are still more talented than the Mavs, but the Mavs hold an advantage in goal in an experienced goaltender who is actually better than MANY give him credit for.

Easy: Hak is trying to find out where everyone fits. Our effort vs. BU was pathetic. You don't put guys who don't produce on the first line. So he mixed up the lines and the players to try to find something that worked. It worked better, but not as well as one would like. I think Miller is a fine player, but I don't think he's a scorer. I think he'd be better suited to fourth line work with spot duty on the second line.

For what it is worth, it was stated numerous times that there is no financial agreement between FSU and the Seminole Nation. Also, there is evidence that the entire Seminole Nation isn't entirely behind this. However, a major tribe, if not several major tribes, have supported the nickname enthusiastically and the state legislation and the fact that it is a big $$$ school for the NCAA, and they're off the list in a hurry.

I 150% agree. And this board will explode as well. For the sake of the board (and JimDahl), I hope we do fare better.

Uh................. You seriously think that pulling off an upset against New Orleans is going to resurrect your season, do you? NO has the same record you do now after the loss. And with 3 turnovers and one blocked field goal (yeah, there were 4 turnovers, but I don't call INTs off of Hail Mary passes to count) and add to it the fact that the offensive totals were staggeringly biased towards New Orleans and something like 17 penalties, I don't think the Vikings won the game more than the Saints lost it. Too early on the jump ship, for sure, but not too early to fear the worst. This team isn't "young" it is inexperienced in goal and inexperienced in depth. There's going to be requirements that we give them time.

It's good to hear he's doing well. Same with Porter. It appears as though what analysts were saying about ZPar on draft day really is coming to fruition (not that it wasn't already the last two seasons). The guy knows how to score. On a random musing based upon what I know rather than what I saw: I wonder if the letter now worn by Toews might impact his scoring. He's a great playmaker (or was for the Sioux anyways). With him assuming a leadership role, I wonder if he might try to set up more people rather than taking the shot (if he can get it). I hope I get to watch Chicago play this year now that I get Versus and NHL Network. The only downside of living in Omaha now is that I don't get Sioux games.

You give three reasons why Eidsness could very well get Greico'd amongst some of the fans. However, I like what you say with a few differences. First off, I think TEAM anything outweighs the importance of any particular position. If Team Defense struggles, it hurts the offense and the goaltending. Right now, we're playing with halves. We're halfway veteran and halfway rookie. LaPoint, Fienhage, and Blood are all rookies and, though their playing time will invariably differ based on a myriad of factors known only to the coaches and the players themselves, they provide an unproven part of the Team scheme, which means there is weakness. The same thing goes with goaltending. Coming into this weekend, we had 3 goaltenders on our team with a combined total of 1 NCAA regular season game played (not counting any partial game appearances Walski may have had). Our 3 goaltenders consist of two freshmen and one goaltender who, admirable as it truly is, was for the better part of 2 seasons the third string goaltender. What this means is that it will produce strain again on the Team defense and the offense to counter this weakness. Add into the fact that the only truly electric offensive players we have are true freshmen (not to take away from the likes of Genoway, VV, Frattin, and Kozek but they aren't Oshie/Toews/ZPar/TZajac types yet. I do have faith that Frattin will be like TZajac or hopefully Stafford-esque) and what we're going to face is needing time, something that teams in the NHL can afford, but not in the NCAA. Eidsness may not have fared well last night, but he faced over 30 shots on goal. Walski lost today and gave up 3 goals on only 16 shots! We are facing a rough go, for sure, but we're looking at it like we expect developed veterans to play when we cant expect something like that. Kangas, Muse, Bachman, and perhaps even Manino were all exceptions to the rule. There aren't many freshmen goaltenders who can come into the league and simply dominate right away. And I don't think Kangas was all that special the first half of the season his freshman year. This season might be rough for the Sioux. Another 2001-2002 or 2002-03 perhaps. But we won't know. This team has a lot of growing to do and must do so without the calming influences of players like Oshie, Chorney, Bina, etc.
-
I don't know. Since Walski has one more game experience than Eidsness. He's also watched JPar and JPL. A stretch for sure, as it is just about a wash either way, but I'll bet 2 coupons to the Village Inn on Walski vs. BU and Eidsness vs. UMass.

Saw on NHL Network that Matt Greene, now of the LA Kings was named an Alternate Captain.

I'll second this. BU is primed for a serious breakout season. They underachieved last year big time. I misread the schedule. I thought we were playing the 2/3rds beanpot (vs. BU and vs. BC). Glad we're not though. I think we wouldn't get much for points if we did. Yeah, I predict the beginning of our season to be rough. Better, though, to get the losses out of the way early.
