I'm talking about da Pole. Phil's already a star.
-
Sure do. A star will soon be born.

Even then it is hit and miss. The NCAA bums in Colorado Springs in '04 closed practices to the fans. At least they did to our group, and there was nothing that Roger Thomas could, or would, do about it. I suspect that The John will be jimmied tight on Thursday. Too much room for rodents skipping class to otherwise lurk and lurch.

Thanks for the prompt replies. They are much appreciated.

Sorry for starting a thread on this rather limited topic. Sometime after the Frozen Four, someone started a thread with some player quotes, all of which were very entertaining and informative. I believe, but am not certain, that that thread got lost in the Big Board Crash of '05. My daughter is looking for the Jordan Parise quote around the Frozen Four about him feeling sorry for opponents, and that he could almost hear them crying when crushed by his D-Men. Big school project for her. Anyone have it where they can provide it, accurately, to us? Maybe some other memorable quotes as well would be fun. My favorite, albeit from Barry Tallackson, is, when referring to the Sioux hitting in the National Semi-Final, "They banged us all night long."

If Fabian starts getting hot, he can carry this team, and make a strong case for a Hobey write-in as well. He is one of the most likely candidates for being able to inspire.

Stafford is, perhaps, the strongest skater on his blades that I have ever witnessed. No one dumps the guy.

Just got home from the last of the Christmas and Holiday parties. Over my head and struck out once again. Several people were, however, bowing down to the Sioux program in Gopherville. Hopefully, the Sioux are on their way to throttling the SeaWolves. Git yer West Regional tickets now. As last year, it is going to be one heck of a fun and wild ride. Probably all the way to Milwaukee. Any one have any Frozen Four tickets that they want to dump at a small premium now?

Amazing that Oshie even played after the Worlds and the hit that he took against Finland that called for a trip to the medics. Sometimes I think that that kid has more hockey heart than does this whole damned world.

Result from last night . . . Harvard 1. Union 1. OT. Just goes to show, again, that all that really matters, in any sport, especially college hockey, is whether a team is willing to pour it on out on the ice on any given night, and more importantly on a consistent basis. Hak and the senior leadership dialed this team up last year not long after this time. I am quit certain that Hak and the vets will be doing it again. Starting tonight. Get your West Regional tickets now.

Big bummer. Pete worked through snow and rain to install our sat system over the weekend just so that we could have it in time for the Seawolves. Maybe Puckhead misspoke we hope?

I assume that this game is not on TV, at least anywhere within a local (Twin Cities) reach? A better stab is the USA-Canada game. While it is probably posted elsewhere, will this be on TV anywhere outside of Canada? As for the Fins, I predict 12-3, USA. Kessel scores five, and Oshie and Lee both notch hat tricks. Pass the flask.

Seattle P-I Sports Article On TJ Oshie & His Journey
NorthDakotaHockey replied to Yttrium's topic in Men's Hockey
A great article. A great kid. A great set of parents. A great support network. A great University. A great World Tournament. A really great time of year. -
Sorry to hear about the family death PCM. They are always tough, and will forever be tough. Especially around Christmas and the Holidays. Our thoughts and prayers here at NDHVille are with you and yours. Safe travels.

#7 Oshie Is Inside College Hockey "Player of the Week"
NorthDakotaHockey replied to Yttrium's topic in Men's Hockey
Big time kudos to TJ. It will be a real pleasure for him to be back on the West Coast skating in front of many friends, family, and supporters. He went out of his way to provide some autographs for my nephews and daughter. World Class Top Shelf player and kid. Merry Christmas to all. Or, as it might suit you better, Happy Holidays as well. -
But then we couldn't plan a trip to Alaska to complete a tour of WCHA arenas . . . .

A BIG Sioux win. Now to complete the sweep tonight at The Ralph to shore up the homefront so that these youngsters can begin to learn how important it is to win at home. Last time through, I believe the Beavers gave the strong '03-'04 team a run for their money in OT in the Championship Game of the Sandwich Classic. For those who will be in the building tonight, have fun. For what it is worth, I think that BSU is the perfect addition to the WCHA for when someone drops. Sure hope it isn't Tech. Mankato might be wise to start playing in the CHA someday soon.

Of course you can't keep 'em all. Ain't enough beer joints in town that will serve all of your young recruits while on their official visits. See you around The John.

I am glad it cracked you up Streaky, because it was meant to be in veiled jest. This said, there is a huge difference between Philly's decision, complete with a press conference to announce that he preferred the Gophers "style of play" over the Badgers who had, for good reason, heavily recruited him, and other D-1 prospects, including those from Minnesota, who decide to play where they have the best opportunities for success, including at North Dakota. The state of Wisconsin has produced very few D-1 players to date. That will change. Obviously, they would have preferred getting Phil. Most, but certainly not all, Sioux players from Minnesota either did not play in the Cities, or were not heavily preferred by Da Don or Da Doug. Therein lies the distinction. Of course, Parise did not turn his back on his home town because he never lived in Minneapolis, the locale of the U of M. When Roseau, Moorhead, or Warroad get D-1 programs, maybe then I will feel differently. Of course, the Potulnys and Vermin did turn their backs on their hometowns, and I do not think highly of them either. This all said, I did have the distinct pleasure of watching Robbie Earl, Joe Pavelski, and other Badgers tell Philly that he had made a huge mistake in judgment while he was forced to shake their hands after the recent trouncing at The John. I suspect that if the Gophers do not make it to Milwaukee, and if the Badgers do, you will not find Philly anywhere close to the town, or to the arena.

Thanks for the link Yttrium. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Hope that you get out to the Worlds. Vancouver, I am told, is a beautiful place. See you around the arenas. NDH

Point well taken Rushmore, Admin, and everyone else. I am over the line in a world that is now full of them. Please accept my apologies. I am a better person that this. I should know by now that some skin can be pretty thin. Guess all those Gopher fans walking into The Ralph asking where the showers were just don't recognize lines either. It is just that I grow so tired of Gopher fans' tired lines about Ralph and their constant young girl gaze over this guy Kessel. In my opinion, the Sioux have at least a handful of skaters who are every bit as capable as Philly. Maybe the fact that he turned his back on his hometown has something to do with my attitude. And you are right rushmore88. It was truly a great great college hockey series, and one that little matters come March unless it is the difference between fifth and sixth place for either team. Self-imposed board ban, come on up. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Great recap Farce. Brought back some great memories. The old Williams Arena was a cool place to watch a hockey game. It was no Winter Sports Arena, but it was ok. Thanks.
