Haha it was meant as a slap in the face to NBC Sports Net because they talk Notre Dame up like they win the national title every year and now it's possible they won't even make the NCAA tournament. Personally, though I wouldn't call Notre Dame a joke. They're not elite yet, but they're an above average rising program that's made huge strides in the past decade.
Perhaps when they win a NC I will give them better props but they are just living off the brand name.
-
So Notre Dame could quite possibly miss the NCAA tournament. How in the heck would NBC Sports Net spin that one to make them look good?
I am sorry but Notre Dame is a joke when it comes to hockey. They basically live off their football cred and it is absolutely ridiculious that they are spotlighted on a national tv station. NBC will soon realize that airing a mediocre team that will get overhyped and underperform year in and year out. Folks it would have been nice to have the Notre Dame name in the NCHC but as far as substance. Meh....(Think St. Cloud)
I know GFG you were just pointing out and I don't think you think Notre Dame is a top NCAA team. Hell I can respect the gophers more than Notre Dame. At least UM has accomplished something on the ice.

Did Blood get to play tonight or was he suspended for a game from last week?
He was out there and looked good.

I saw that too and thought it looked like Gleason, hopefully its nothing that will keep him out.
I thought it was Mattson.

The more the merrier right.

For Hockey Weekend Across America, College Hockey Inc. picked the 'best' player from 40+ states and the District of Columbia.
Lamoureux gets the nod for NoDak, while Panzarella gets the nod for Washington D.C.
A non-Gopher player for Minnesota was a bit of a surprise, but the player picked is deserving.
I can only imagine the goofer fans all up in arms over not having a player represented for Minnesota.

I'm trying to remember myself. The Malone hit on Wehrs last year just as the period was ending was a very good clean hit. I had no problems with it. But Frattins hit was a blatant cheap shot where he left his feet and went high with his hands. I dont remember though exactly when this happended or who he hit. I know it was in Grand Forks, maybe it was the playoff series? And was that also Wehrs?
I just remember two hits on wehrs. I believe both were from Frattin but now that I think about it one of those hits could have been on Alt. So you are probably right it could have been Malone.
-
you know wehrs received a concussion with the first hit? not something a sioux fan or otherwise should laugh about IMO
Wasn't the first hit when Wehrs tried to hit Frattin and basically hit a brick wall. I am not laughing at the hit but laughing at the gopher fan who tries to tell me our team is a bunch of goons. Of course I am relieved Wehr wasn't seriously hurt but that still doesn't take away from the fact that we have a Wehrs corner.

Ok. that was a much better look. Pretty good move. Reminds me of Trupp

Has anyone seen the goal from alex mason from DL, some are calling it the goal of the year at any level. In another interview while he was at a pow wow he said that he is looking at either going to canada to play, UM or UND. This is the first I have seen of him. Is he on the radar?
To be honest I didn't really know what I was watching. I thought at first it was a girls hockey game and you can kind of see the play but not real good. Is there any better video of it other than what was first shown or reported?

There it is!! There's that classic Sioux delusional thinking about the Gophers! Yep, if you have an M on your chest, you talk trash, take cheap shots, and hide behind your coaches and teammates.
And your last line about UND only hitting opponents from the front is laughable. Kristo's hit on Marshall in Grand Forks was one of the cheaper hits in the league all year. Hits him diirectly from behind and then throws a punch for good measure.
ha ha. makes me laugh. I could give you a laundry list of examples too. We are always looking to rename our corners in our builidng after people. Wehrs corner!

Fugstad is big but buckysieve he is just like most gopher players talk big and act big when they have their cadre of teammates around them but seem to turtle when left by themselves. Or they like to take cheapshots. Say what you will about NoDak but at least when we hit you its in front of your face and not while you are down or your back turned.

I'm guessing this will be one of those battles for the next couple years between UND and the CHL. There will be lots of rumors both ways before he makes his way to campus in a few years. We are due to win one.
Absolutely. Until he sets foot on campus nothing is forsure but at face value I am taking it for what its worth.
-
Looks like he has committed. He has some buddies congratulating him on committing to UND. This is a real big pickup.
-
Does anyone know of a kid named Brendan Lemieux? Last night I happened to catch a tweet from him to Rocco Grimaldi. He said "Committed to University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux!" @rgrimaldi23" .
I am not sure if he was just stating that Rocco was committed or that he, Brendan Lemieux, was committed.
Here is the link to his twitter account https://twitter.com/#!/blemieux22

DU wins it in OT. Poor Goofers going downhill.
-
UM and DU headed to overtime. Minnesota takes bad penalty with a little over 2mins and DU buries the puck to tie it up.
-
UM 3 DU 3 with seconds left in the 3rd
-
Brown and Connoly each had 2 PP goals(including 5 on 3s and 5 min. major) on the weekend
Rowney with 4 Even Strength goals on the weekend.
UMD is OVER-RATED
Amen. Got some help from the officials and our bone headed penalties and we still almost beat them. All i can say is 7>1. They are even lucky to have that 1.
-
UM 3 DU 2 9:48 left in 3rd
-
UM 2 DU 2 12:00 in 3rd left
-
We really need to get the penalties under control. No more CFB either. Lets go boys and lets get 4pts. from Tech.

It is with great sadness that I vote for changing the nickname but I don't want harm to come to UND. I think the biggest disappointment for me is that SR didn't get to vote if they wanted to have the nickname or not. The tribal leaders stonewalled all they could and it is a real shame. Long Live Fighting Sioux.
-
Wow, really? I'm surprised. Kristo should have had a game suspension for his hit during the gopher series, then. But maybe the league is cracking down, which would be a good thing.
Wasn't Kristo's a CFB. This was clearly a hit to the head. I am sorry they just aren't the same.

I am confused by the comment of Blount "They still think they can bully the NCAA, which is laughable."
I beg to differ that it is the other way around. The NCAA thinks and knows they can bully us. I agree the nickname needs to be retired in order for our athletic teams to survive.
Also in all of this the likes of Iowa, MN, WI and their holier than thou attitudes. Would they really not play football or another sport against say Florida State? Would their holier than thou consciences allow them to do that. $$$$ i think we know that answer to this. Hypocrisy at its highest. This whole thing has turned into PC run way to far amok.
I can see why people want to stick it to the NCAA. I wish UND could give the middle finger to those schools like UM, WI and Iowa because at the end of the day it isn't about integrity it is about the mighty dollar.
