  1. Lets be honest though. Seth's father had a pretty long career in the NBA and I am sure made at least a million year. I don't think money is a huge issue for them. Sure he wants to be set for life but I wouldn't think it is the driving factor.

  2. The guy from the "walk-on" group I've been especially surprised by is Gaarder.

And as good as Jones is, I think we have to be a little cautious what miracles we can expect if he comes next year. If he doesn't, it will still be a very dynamic bunch, though.

I agree. Perfect example is Rocco. Not that he did anything wrong but excitement was so high for him and he only played a couple games.

Sometimes things don't turn out as you expect. The Sioux/UND will be fine either way if Jones doesn't come.

  3. Well does anyone want to guess when Seth is going to make his decision? And what he will decide to do?

I say he will make his decision by the end of this week and will probably decide to go Everett. I can't even imagine the possiblities next year if he does decide to come to UND. It just seems to good to be true. I guess we will see.

  4. Public schools recruit too. Warroad does it. My best friends sister was recruited from East Grand Forks, she captained their team this season.

I think the rumor going around in the past is that if Warroad wants you to play for them they will go as far as finding a job for your parents(Marvin Windows). Not sure if this is true but I have heard about this even when I was a kid.

  5. Another game where the first shot on the UND goaltender goes in. That makes 8 (more?) games started that way this season. That's a decade's-worth in a season.

Nothing against our goaltenders but they were one of our weaker links.

  6. It would be great to land Seth but I really think he is going to go Everett. Of course no one but Seth and his family know what he is going to do so I am just speculating. If he does come and if we don't lose any players to early departure we would have to be in the top 3 in the country next season and a really good shot for #8 9.

  7. Does anyone know how good Chris Wilkie of the Omaha AAA Lancers 16U could be. See UND offered him a scholarship and his going to play for the Sioux.

I also would not be surprised to see him end up at the US NTDP.

  8. You dont think the four other programs in the state want to play the Gophers every year? We know UND does and Denver is currently in talks with us to continue playing, so yes most everyone in the league DOES want to play the U. Not sure what's so laughable about that opinion but ok.

Oh my god Gophersieve don't even get me started on the goofers and their lame schedules.

  9. Eveybody thinks they can straighten a kid out. College coaches in all sports think this way when they recruit a troubled yet talented teen. The problem is they often end up wrong as a coach and other players aren't going to babysit a guy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We've seen other players with far less of a bad reputation get into trouble here so I think it is risky to think Voltin is going to suddenly be an angel here.

You have no idea what he has done and therefore strictly just assuming or guessing. I am not painting him out to be an angel but we don't know the circumstances to all this hearsay.

  10. maybe I am being to judgmental, but being 17 and heard the stories from many of my highschool friends on the hockey team, they say he's got problems. Don't get kicked off a US hockey team.. that really says something about your attitude.

Sounds like he may just need a good role model. I am 100% confident our coaches and upper classmen can fill that role. I anticipate Luke will do just fine at UND.

  11. That is printed in the fall. If he wasn't enrolled in the fall, he wouldn't be on it.

That's if he is referring to the printed directory and not the online. However I just got my updated directory the beginning of the spring semester. They release two printed directories in the Fall and Spring.

  12. Sounds like Seth has good head on his shoulder and doing it right by planning it out and thinking hard on his decision not jump the gun like most kids when the hard dirty WHL recruiting pressure is put on kids.

That seems to be what he is doing and if that is the case I applaud him. I appreciate as you mentioned him not jumping the gun. I would much prefer to have him pick other options and not commit then pull a JT Miller.

  13. One thing I do think we have going for us is that it doesn't appear as though Seth needs the money the CHL is going to be throwing around for him. I am sure he comes from a well to do family and just going for the money is probably not on his radar. NBA salaries make NHL look small and Popeye was a decent player who probably made no less than a mill a year.
