  1. OK now we bring out the big guns. You, me and the rest know that if Ralphy doesn't donate millions of $$ and build a hockey shrine for himself on the UND campus, the school would've changed the name a long time ago. We all now of the threats he made and how much do you want to bet there are provisions in his will if the name was changed. Come on, I was born at night but not last night. I've said it before, money makes the world go round. Ralphy's loaded and the Sioux tribes aren't, bottom line. You can fire away at me all you want but you all know its true!
  2. And how exactly is UND better than these universities?
  3. Thats about it in a nutshell. Accepting a Buttload of cash from a Nazi lover doesn't help UND's image. Draggin it's feet when a jewish student is discriminated against doesn't help, either.
  4. So whatever happens at one Ivy League school can be applied to all Ivy League schools? Wow, the words stretch and reach apply here. keep'em comin, though.
  5. HaHaHaHa..........That made my mornin, thanks.
  6. Come get some refers to the fact that I get attacked for anything I post. And you are exactly right about the Life isn't fair quote, SO QUIT BITCHIN AND WHINING ABOUT KEEPING THE NICKNAME!!
  7. Actually, Arkansas State changed thiers at the recommendation of new president Dr. Robert Potts, the former Chancellor of the NDUS. Hmm.........very interesting.
  8. Why is it that when Mr. Foolbear writes a letter and makes his case, he's absolutely speaking the truth and put on a pedestal, but when another NA makes says the oppsite, he's chastised. I did not ever say all members of my tribe were against the name, but a significant number are and that will be enough. I really wanted my alma mater to take the high road as an INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION and do what the leaders of such prestigous universities like Dartmouth and Stanford did in changing their names. I guess they'll have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Come get some!
  9. A stretch, but yes you could say its bein done to you also.
  10. Could you do that for me, that would be a big help? Pidamaya.
  11. Ya know I first came on this forum to give a point of veiw from the native side since no one else appeared to be doin it. But it was obvious from the first responses to my posts that only thing anyone wants to hear is support for the nickname. The only other person to be in favor of changing is hermit and he was banned. But I guess i shouldn't have expected anything better from a "Fighting Sioux" forum. You have all been very useful though. When and if we have a meeting on my Rez regarding the nickname you can bet I will print and circulate some of the garbage from this forum and others I have been on. So i guess a big thank you is in order for doing your parts to get the nickname changed. Peace.
  12. With passion and conviction, ya thats right!
  13. Haven't been to the doc in 17 years, keep myself in tip-top shape. Thanks for your concern though. By the way, I'm an educator and my Bio class just finished a genetic analysis of a number of straits in our community, so I am at least making a small contribution. You have a good day now, ya hear!
  14. The fact that you replied to my post tells me it affected you at some level. Whether or not I need help will be up to me or maybe the authorities but you can bet it won't be at the behest of someone sittin in their trialer, watchin Jerry while finishing their last can of Hamm's for breakfast. Also, I don't need Rev. Wright to champion my cause, my own people will do that when the time comes. Finally, no this mentality is not my worst enemy. If you lived my life and seen the things I have seen growing up you might understand. Pidamaya, for your concern though. peace!
  15. Goon ,look up toward the top of the page by the post written by dead-rabbit.
  16. one important thing that I want to stress is that unless you have had these experiences and walked in my shoes you will never, ever be able to know what it feels like. Until you can do that, this dialogue we are having is pointless and neverending.
  17. Well, lets see, I don't know how many times I was asked if I got my check. many, non natives beleive we all get checks, which is false. More than one time I heard the stereotypical iniand sound made by tapping your mouth and holloring, if you understand what I am saying. One time I attempted to throw a pop can in the garbage can on the wing in West hall but missed. I was told by one of the guys on the floor to pick it up cause "this wasn't the rez". I walked into the suite area of one of the rooms on my floor and heard one of the guys ask my roommate if he was worried about the cleanliness of our room because of me. There are other incidence, those are just a few.
  18. Just asked a question, didn't need a smarta$$ answer. Some other posters asked me why I didn't report the racial incidents when I was at school and this answers I got to my question pretty much confirm why I didn't report.
  19. Does anyone know if any action was taken against those students?
  20. Those are some pretty good points redwing. Best I've read since bein on here. Again, I don't feel I'm a racist. I have many freinds who are not NA. I just feel it's wrong to have UND use the nickname because we as natives do not feel honored and there is a significant % that feel as I do. I'm not gonna get into the argument of %'s and so on. I assumed that people on this board would be open minded to my beleifs, but apparently if I am against the nickname then everything i write is hogwash. Which I guess is OK, I never expected to be welcomed with open arms. One major point i want to make is it seems that most on here are making assumptions about present day NA's without really knowing any NA's or experiencing life on a rez. There's alot of I heard this and my friend told me that, etc. I'm an educated person and I know I can live anywhere in the USA I want but choose to live here on my rez because I am happy here and like serving my people. It isn't anywhere near as bad as you think it is.
  21. Actually when I was going to school in Bozeman I must have traveled the interstate between Bismarck and there at least 50 times and I stopped and helped motorists twice, both with flat tires and also picked up hitchhikers twice. I kinda made a vow after my experience that I would help stranded motorists.
  22. I'm not racist. I have many friends who are caucasion. I work with caucasions. I admire and respect people like Einstein, Robert Devries, Bobby Knight, Dr. Seabloom and Dr. O'Rielly at UND. I have met many people of different races who I respect. I just feel very deeply that it's time the name be changed. I do not feel honored by the Fighting Sioux nickname. Actions speak louder than words. You say you are honoring me but would you give me the time of day if I asked for it? Let me tell you a story. About 10 years ago I was goin to Bismarck for a meeting. It was in march and the temp was in the 30's. About 5 miles past Steele my pickup gave out. I opened my hood had the flashers on but no one stopped. I walked 5 miles back to Steele without anyone giving me a ride on the interstate! Now I obviously look Native American but come on. Why wouldn't anyone give me a ride? How many of you have been to a rez? Have you ever been in the home of a NA? There are alot of contradictions in this matter. No answers either. And chewey, you don't know what he was trying to say. Why do you automatically defend his statement? It's a downright ignorant statement and you know it.
