  1. There was an officials meeting with team captains on the ice after the first period. It was likely intended to keep the level of physical play down. If the ref's threatened five minute major's, that would take away the physical advantage right there.

Not saying the threat happened like that, but the conversation was had, for sure.

If that is the case, then it is sad to see refs doing that. It seems to take away from the game.

  2. 9-7 ncaa tournament record under hakstol. that's obviously not what we, as fans, want, but it's it's a good start to a career.

the competition in the regular season varies from week to week whereas the ncaa tournament tends to be the best teams in the country. i'd say a 9-7 ncaa tournamnet record is on par with our regular season performance in that time given the heightened level of talented opponents in the tournament vs regular season.

If we are a national level team, shouldn't we be able to overcome that?

  3. One of the major differences is the officiating. The Sioux seem to do well when they play with their usual WCHA style and take their share of penalties. This game they didn't even attempt to intimidate Yale. It almost seemed like they just wanted to stay out of the box. After watching their superior play vs. the Gophers then at the Final Five, I was shocked at how they came out. Same thing the last couple of years.

Hopefully this gets some attention and the proper people in the program can address it, whatever that will entail.

  4. I was hoping someone with far more hockey knowledge than me could answer some questions. This in no way is meant to be negative, it is just hard for me to understand not being someone who has been around hockey my whole life.

Why is our team completely different when they go the NCAA tournament? Is it coaching? Player preparation?

We for sure have had some great moments in the regular season under Hak and have seen them personally, but the post season is a different story. Is it lack of familiarity with the teams schemes or just the style of play?

Again, just trying to understand the game better. Thanks!

  5. We are down 3-0...why?

Yale is out working us, out skating us. Making most of their chances.

We, sans the penalty shot, have generated 5 decent scoring chances in 40 minutes and now we need to bury 3?

We looked unprepared and not ready to play from the get go.

    And whos fault is that?

  6. I think everyone needs to take a deep breath now. We still have 20 mins of hockey left. Instead of giving up on our team, how about we CHEER for them instead?? Yes, it sucks losing to "lesser" teams, but it happens, especially in the playoffs. RELAX...

LET'S GO FIGHTING SIOUX!!!! Play your game and play smart, you can do it!! :)

True, except its happened every playoff season for ten years

  7. I can't believe it only took 40 minutes of hockey to bring back all the "Dean Blais is the magic cure" talk. HE IS NO 100% SURE FIRE GUARANTEE WE'D WIN ANY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS! The sooner you get that through your head the better.

So how many NCs has Hak won???

  8. OK, There is still 20 mins of hockey, there is lots of time for the sioux to get a few goals, we all just need to have a little faith.

this team is full of character, i know they can come back from this they just need to work hard and get pucks and bodies to the net.

YOU CAN DO IT BOYS!!! 1 GOAL AT A TIME!!!

And Hak is just trying to keep his job

  9. But isn't this getting old. High expectations crushed every year. We are like the Buffalo Bills or Minnesota Vikings. Go to the tourny and get beat. Hak is not a good coach.

Exactly, the post season is the time to perform. When will we stop being happy with just wcha banners going up?

  10. Like I said ding-dong, it's no treat, but it's still better than not being there. Not even making it would mean we would be a worse team. You go on the ignore list, drive by prick.

That's fine, Hak and company will just keep dropping goose eggs and you can watch them do it!

  11. Too late for the Fire Hakstol chant? Another tournament and a big fat doughnut. Yale is playing like UND should be. WCHA title means nothing when you get your @ss kicked in the NCAA tourny. FIRE HAKSTOL!!!!

At first look, it's an overreaction. Then you realize how many freakin chances we have had in the NCAA's and nothing to show for it. No one cares about 2000 anymore, not when this program's head is as big as it is.

  12. How so? Being in the NCAA and losing is no treat, but is still better than not being there at all.

Really? would you like to re-live getting embarrassed on national TV against BC? Or how about blowing it against New Hampshire last year?

  13. Well, game over.Another pathetic performance in the NCAA tournament along with being the 6th regional final in 7 years and 0 national championships.

Sorry to say it but the WCHA is not all its cracked up to be.

  14. It's a race between the Gophers and Sioux to see who can get crappy the fastest, in order to get their current coach fired, and to pave the way to bring in Dean Blais, and eventually, a championship. I have full faith in our boys that they can get the job done before the Gophs.

But wait! Hakstol has so many frozen four appearances, and yet I can't find those banners anywhere??
