  1. The false negatives have the biggest error factor. If wearing a mask into a store and some (but not absolute) social distancing was the extent of it you wouldn't have the fight that you have now. I think most people can get on board with that even with the debate about how effective masks really are. Where the fight comes in is when an outdoor venue like the Grand Forks Speedway that can seat 5,000-6000 arbitrarily has their seating cut down from 3000 (half capacity) to 1500 because "not enough people were wearing masks" at an outdoor venue that was maybe 1/2 full. It's when instead of cutting down class sizes or spacing out the seats a bit....the class is cancelled all together. It's the hypocrisy of "protestors" being allowed to congregate in large numbers but churches and youth sports being banned from doing the same.
  2. You mean if you test positive there is a 60-70% chance you are actually positive? .....or if you text negative there is also a considerable chance you really aren't negative? If you want to participate in a war of attrition have at it, but for the vast majority of Americans it is unnecessary. Once again, what is acceptable? How long? With the understanding it will never disappear, 5 years from now if one kid gets Covid does his/her entire class lose 2 weeks of class/sports?
  3. From the sound of it Oxbow has made educated decisions based on the information available and determined what is reasonable and isn't reasonable and chosen to live his life....so bad example there. He can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming he does what he can to sanitize and wear the proper equipment at his job, but even so there is no way to eliminate the chance that he could pass something on to a patient. The fallacy of your testing argument is....I could be tested today at noon, catch Covid from the UPS driver handing me a package at 1pm....but my test results tomorrow would still come back negative. Too many people think that a negative test result somehow lasts until your next test, which it doesn't.
  4. Surprise surprise, the media has been hesitant to report on this. Biden would drastically alter 401k plans because they are "unfair". https://www.rollcall.com/2020/08/24/biden-retirement-proposal-would-upend-traditional-401k-plans/
  5. Which takes us back to the question that Redneck refuses to answer, what is acceptable? Because in your above scenario, if you are worried about your kid getting it and spreading it.....sign the kid up for online learning and don't let him/her participate in any extracurriculars....but don't dictate that same expectation on me. As for the husband at Simplot, double down on safety precautions and if you still don't feel adequately able to protect yourself then maybe a new job is needed. Even with everyone doing everything right, people will still get it in those situations so stop cancelling life in an effort to hit an unattainable (and constantly moving) goal.
  6. #1 It's the personal responsibility of those that will come in contact with those that are vulnerable that can't protect themselves (like those in nursing homes). For those that aren't locked into a controlled setting, the personal responsibility falls onto the person that is vulnerable (but can make their own decisions to minimize their risk). #2 It was triggered by chicken littles like yourself that believe that just because you are too scared to partake in an activity that no one else should be able to either.
  7. Sounds like a personal responsibility issue. Those with access to old people should be more careful/be tested often and the facility should tighten their procedures. Shouldn't cause a volleyball team of high school kids to miss two weeks of games.
  8. You're the one crying and throwing a tantrum about people not putting any droplets into the air and can't even back up your own argument of what acceptable is. I'm fine wide open. Why aren't you?
  9. Lol........spin all you want but that building still looks burned down....even an idiot.....well most idiots....would consider the current owner of the property/building every bit the stakeholder as the guy that ran the camera shop located in that building. Business owner is just mad at himself. I for one am shocked there was a camera business to even buy 8 years ago......didn't those go away 20 years ago with something called digital cameras?
  10. But keep on keeping on, people like you are doing what seemed to be impossible 6 months ago. You are handing the election to Trump again. When it comes to giving up personal freedom, you are in the minority when it comes to people that blindly do so without questioning it.....and a growing number of people are fed up with that mentality
  11. It's not whining and crying, it's asking to live life as normal. Whining and crying is being scared of living life and expecting everyone else to curl up in the fetal position too. Anyways, once again, you showed your true colors and general lack of knowledge by not being able to support your argument by giving any response to what acceptable risk is.
  12. No, this is your argument. Don't be scared of giving an answer like you are of living life. YOU are the one that is trying to dictate to everyone what acceptable risk is so YOU should step up and state what acceptable is. Your hypocrisy and wishy washy answers are exactly what it wrong with the Covid situation. The level of risk that I find unacceptable is irrelevant to the rest of Grand Forks or society in general. If I don't feel safe in a situation, I will remove myself from that situation. I won't whine and cry until everyone else does too. You really don't get it do you?
  13. Covid-19 argument summed up = I can't/am too scared to do something so you shouldn't be able to do it either.
  14. So if you are vulnerable and/or just plain worried, would staying at home, visiting stores at off peak hours, etc also greatly reduce your odds of catching Covid? Why with driving is "reduced" good enough but with Covid there is an insistance on zero chance?
  15. So even though you feel that you are prepared to drive, can you guarantee 100% that you won't cause an accident that causes harm to someone else? Because using your mask logic..... unless you can (which you can't) you shouldn't be able to ever drive right?
  16. Job well done Oxbow. Fitting that you are Mr 500! Speech speech speech
  17. This one's pretty entertaining too. It's like Hayduke trying to stick with a losing argument.
