  1. Have you ever even been to a Wolves game, or are you just a racist douche? 90% or more of the crowd are rich white people. I've been frisked at the Xcel center plenty of times. Crawl back under your rock idiot
  2. MY WAITRESS WAS SNOBBY I WANT THE TOURNEY MOVED!!!! Welcome to the big city fellas...
  3. The attendance will change every year based on who's there. Ever go to the Final Five when the gophs weren't there? That will happen no matter where it is located. No team besides UND sells a ton of advance tickets.
  4. You aren't going to gain fans from Denver by putting it in Sioux Falls IMO. Flights from Denver to here are cheap as hell. Any fans that would fly to Sioux Falls for the Tourney already are likely flying here. Think about it. Why would more people fly to Sioux Falls when tickets are more expense than a flight to Minneapolis? Omaha is a better option than Sioux Falls IMO.
  5. That re-entry policy was changed THE NEXT NIGHT. You think they're not going to re-evaluate it with the NCHC before next year as well? The Ice was fine the 2nd night. The boards and glass can be improved. These are not reasons to move the tourney. They are things that need to be improved. What the heck do you expect from the local businesses? What 'support' can they offer you? Free drinks? Welcome UND fans signs? They have events at TC nearly every day of the week. These businesses don't care about some 10,000 person event once a year nor should they. If you want the tourney to move because of this you are crazy. Go to a different place next year. There are HUNDREDS of places downtown to check out.
  6. Of course it's based on assumptions, but also based on some facts. Like the fact that a LOT of alumni from many of the conference schools live in the Twin Cities. Am I not correct? You can 'bet' that attendance will go down? Isn't that an assumption by you? Attendance was UP this year over last year and there were a TON of complaints after last years Tourney. So why would it go down after this year? Do you feel TC won't make changes? They did this year from one day to the next, why wouldn't they from one year to the next.
  7. I agree. I didn't see any staff being overly mean at all. Were there lines and some issues on Friday? Yes. Did they have those cleared up on Saturday? Yes. I think some people went into the series Looking for issues to complain about. They didn't even check tickets this year, which was a major complaint last year.
  8. Huh? They're putting $100 million into the arena. What are you talking about?
  9. So because attendance was 'bad' at 11,000 people we should move it somewhere where we're basically guaranteed to have LESS people?? How does that make sense? I think people are underestimating how many UND fans are in the twin cities and also how few would drive to Sioux Falls. As many have mentioned people that have had the tourney in the home town for 20 years aren't likely to want to spend the time and money to drive someplace like Sioux Falls to see it. They'll just watch on TV. I can tell you right now not a single one of my friends or family would even consider driving to Sioux Falls for this. They go because it's here. They'd be way more likely to go if it was in Denver than Sioux Falls. Flights to Denver from MSP are dirt cheap and they have way more to do there.
  10. 1. The average distance from each school may be similar, but the distance from the fan population centers is way worse. The twin cities is FULL of fans from many of the NCHC schools esp UND, Cloud and UMD. Think these fans want to drive 6 hours for something that has been in their backyard for over 20 years? Also, both Colorado schools have low attendance numbers even for their home games. Those people aren't driving 7 hours in mass for this tourney. Most Denver fans you see at it now are from the Twin Cities. 2. Yes, a smaller arena could host it, but how many people would they draw to the twin cities if Duluth, UND and Cloud all made the tourney next year? Far more than this year. 3. The issues at TC with the boards can be fixed. The ice can be fixed. I expect these issues to be rectified by next year. They already fixed the wrist band issue on the 2nd day of the tourney. 4. Sioux Falls doesn't hold a candle to the twin cities in terms of things to do, places to eat, hotels, museums, etc. 'No other teams playing in town' What does that matter? It was awesome that people could go to the Wild game in the afternoon if they wanted this year. Having nothing else to do is a plus? Sioux Falls is boring as hell. Who cares if 'people are talking about it'.. How would that help anyone?
  11. I've heard that the system used in the target center to keep the ice frozen is not the best and that they may have bought a lower quality one to save $$ actually. Hence the need to have the building so cold to help keep the ice firm. The reason you don't hear many complaints about ice is most buildings invest in a quality system.
  12. Remember folks, the Xcel is more worried about offending the 10,000 50+ year old Gophers fans who don't sell out their own home games than they are making money. Mariucci set me straight. Fear the Senior Citizens fans! They might not sell out one of their upcoming MN Wild Games or Rock Concerts if they do. Those 10,000 fans buy a TON of rock concert tickets and are all MN wild Season ticket holders as well. That must be why they can't go to the actual Gophers games...
  13. I bet the X sold more alcohol and food when UND was in there as well. People staying in hotels drink and eat more than those who are going to drive home after the game.
  14. Actually, pro sports OWN the twin cities. The big 10 is way way below the pro sports in this town both in terms of revenue generation and/or media coverage.
  15. Why would they care about the name? How does the name make them more money. Please explain.
  16. The X would rather host whichever event makes them more moeny, pediod. If Dora on Ice bring the bank they'll book it. Names don't matter AT ALL. You're overestimating the Big 10.
  17. And since the gophers are guaranteed to make it (wow big 10 you suck) the X knows they'll get a decent crowd every year they are there.
  18. I do agree people would be happier with their experience if the team hadn't played like Sh!t... Couple things I noticed: Agreed that the seats are awful.. My brother came down and had never been to TC. He was absolutely disgusted by the seats in the building. They are beyond awful. I imagine new seats are part of the $97 million renovation. The upper concourse is the most dreary place for a sporting event I've even been in. It's just depressing being in the upper level concourse in general. It's small, not well lit, no windows or natural light, etc. Only 1 concession stand on the upper level had Surly. Every one has a cooler though. Put the good stuff in every stand. Why make people walk around to the other side of the arena? Nearly every stand had a ton of room in their cooler so it would have been easy to do. Maybe not the Target Centers fault but some sections in the lower bowl were absolutely packed and then the section right next to it had fully empty rows. Why not spread people out a little bit when selling the tickets? They didn't get to crazy about checking tickets that I noticed either night so maybe it's not a big deal as people end up moving around.
  19. What a complete waste of time this tourney was... Heard many sioux fans comment that they weren't coming back next year and I don't blame them... Target Center is the oldest venue in the NBA and is a complete dump but the way they run it makes things even worse.
  20. I know I can't go on Friday due to the game being early and other people having the day off already. My bad of course as I should have taken it off. No big deal for me I guess. Going Saturday.
  21. Yeah it's a little crazy that they are over 50% cheaper. My wife just bought 3 tickets to Friday and 2 tickets to Saturday for $100 total. no fees. Those tickets were like $41.25 each. We just saved $100 by waiting to buy tickets. Likely not as close of seats as some, but for the money who cares. This tells me they likely haven't sold many tickets yet.
  22. Single game ticket aren't available. It's a day ticket to both games. Can someone advise if they allowed re-entry last year?
  23. Yup and you can leave and re-enter the building I believe as well.
  24. Yeah, but I was just pointing out cheaper tickets were available. You don't have to buy the most expensive tickets... That's $40 per game for lower bowl playoff tickets. Not really that expensive.
  25.     Kinda dumb that they put both 'local' team in the early game... Doesn't really make sense...
