Not so much suggesting it as trying to find a way for him to continue to take faceoffs if he was moved. It seems unlikely that he would be.
OMac was 33 percent on draws to end the season. He will definitely be the first option to move to wing over Berg. This is why everyone has OMac pencilled in at wing on their potential line charts. It’s easily the most likely center to wing move to make.

Then they could play on the same line, with Omac at center but Berg taking selected draws, especially in the defensive zone.
Why are we suggesting moving our top faceoff guy (Berg) to wing?

UND basically has 8 guys you could argue could play top 6, so I think most of them you could move around in a variety of spots in the top 9 and justify it.
IMO, These guys are the top 9: Berg, OMac, Perron, Boisvert, Swanson, Wilkie, James, Kunz, and Jamernik. Jamernik is for sure third line, but the other 8 you could make a case any of them would fit in a top 6 role.

Any thoughts on Cooper Simpson?
Tri-City shelters him a little bit in my opinion. Plays on their second line right now, but I don’t think they gave him a single shift in the third period in tonight’s game. Didn’t think he did anything to warrant that.

I believe Griffen Ness would be eligible to return for another season. Has he or the team made any announcement about his plans?
He was playing in the ECHL after the season ended so…

Wasn’t much of an article, but he’s hyped. That’s good news.
It was just something that was written from what was shown on the TV spot on him on WDAY on Friday.

That quote is already not aging well.
I knew BC was losing as soon as I saw him say that.

What, the Canes need to sleep on it another night, lol? Genuinely curious—with the Canes officially announcing multiple other college signings—just wondering why Blake hasn’t been announced yet. Especially as a Hobey Hat Trick finalist with the last year for the Canes to sign him before he hits FA.
Should have been a done deal by now, right?
Hope he rejects the full court press like LaDue after the 2015 season.
From what I understand the deal is done and sounds like has been signed. They will announce it tomorrow.

Does anyone know why it hasn’t been reported that Blake has signed? Morrow signed. Nadeau signed. Why hasn’t Blake yet?
It’ll be tomorrow.

Projection based on current info:
Forward (15):
GR - Jamernik
SR - Berg, Kunz, Schmaltz, Montgomery, Wilkie
JR - McLaughlin, James, Strinden
SO - Perron
FR - Swanson, Boisvert, Croal, Littler
X - PortalDefense (8):
JR - Zmolek
SO - Livanavage, Wiebe, Komzak, MacDonald
FR - Jubenvill, Strathmann, EmeryGoalie (3):
SR - Semptimphelter
JR - Johnson
SO - HedquistWilkie added, huge news with Blake news coming soon.
Makes for a lot of experience up front. Seven players will use up their eligibility next season. But our D-corps is very talented and young...should be set on the back end for a few seasons now.Sorry to nitpick…
But I think Montgomery should be listed with the juniors. He’s currently listed as a redshirt sophomore.

I believe Zellers is headed into his senior year of high school. Not college eligible.
No, he graduates this spring. Commitment article indicates he will play USHL next season so that is going to be my continued assumption until we hear differently.

The Wood loss hurts a bit, will hurt even more once Blake signs.
Some UMN fans are already proclaiming the Wood/Moore/Snuggerud line to be as good as the Knies/Cooley/Snuggerud line, which is laughable. UMN still won’t have very good forward depth next season, even with the Wood pickup.I wouldn’t even put Snuggerud and Wood on the same line. They both essentially do the same thing. But I’m not sure what kind of playmakers Minnesota has on their other lines. But I also don’t really care because it doesn’t affect me lol.

Update: Shattuck won in OT 5-4. Zellers had the game winner - his 4th goal of the game.

Since his high school season ended, and he rejoined Tri City, Cooper Simpson has really picked up his scoring, with 2 goals and an assist tonight on 8 shots.
I was going to mention this also. Tri City recently moved him to their top line. I think they moved him there last weekend. I like how much he shoots the puck.

One of the multiple reasons I hate the portal. From Komzak’s perspective it’s real easy to leave to go somewhere he’s basically guaranteed playing time. From the team’s perspective it must be tempting to take a known commodity instead of hoping a player develops to a similar level.
At least we are in the trading up side of the portal equation, but I hate it.
Funny enough, Komzak was MacDonald’s D partner in juniors.

Yes but I wouldn't be surprised if another D came in...otherwise you're left with only four D with NCAA experience being that Komzak barely played last year.
Did we not have only 4 D with NCAA experience at the start of this season? It just seems unnecessary to me to add a 9th D.

Yeah, would love to be planning for that, too. I guess I just prefer to move on when stuff sucks.

How accurate is this? No BC, No BU, No DU and Minny 10th.
Neutral Zone uses a weird formula that values quantity over quality. Looking at the “Star average” is a more accurate reflection of these classes.

But weren't they CAR's not long ago?
I just looked it up. Looks like Carolina ended the affiliation after Covid cancelled the postseason in 2020.

No more Charlotte? When'd that happen?
Charlotte is Florida’s affiliate.

Was glad to hear that it wasn't Wilkie. From the rumblings, it sounds like it is between UND and UW for Wilkie.
Isn’t Wilkie supposedly visiting campus today? That’s why I thought it wouldn’t be him, along with the fact that it was teased by YHH, so I figured it was a Minnesota kid.

I think it was CHNs podcast who talked with Mayotte of CC after the Omaha series loss and missing the tourney. Talks about the weight of results and how it was their demise. Was a very interesting listen hearing him talk about how they were ultimately punished for playing at home vs the road and how the results had the effect they did on pairwise leaving them out.
I think if CC had won most of their OT games in regulation instead of OT I think that may have been enough to get them in. UMass also played a lot of OT games and they were the last team in over CC. I haven’t done a deep comparison of the two teams but all the OT games between the two jumped out.

I just don’t see much, if any recruiting value. The U18 team is nearly all committed to schools by the time we typically play them. Most are committed prior to, or near the start of joining the U17 team.
