  1. These are big conference points at stake here.  A sweep puts UND in great position for the second half, but that won't come easy.

The Pioneers are (at least they should be) our most hated rival in the NCHC.  UND has lost more National Championship banners to this team than any other (3) and that alone should be grounds for finishing every single check.  Keep the hands on those sticks, and the sticks on the ice, stay out of the box, and crash that net early and often.  I'm liking UND for a pair of 4-2 wins, one with an ENG.

  2. Well, it was billed as a split series, so why not.  Like I said last night, I'd rather be outshot than outscored.  We earned that one, and I hope these guys remember the taste in their mouths tonight.  A sweep would have put JBSU in our rear view.  Now we are neck and neck with them and no chance to get back at them until a playoff game.  While it will make for a challenging season, it certainly makes a Penrose tougher.  One thing we learned...we're not perfect.  Our defense needs work, and lines 2, 3, and 4 need work   I saw a lot of passengers out there tonight.  Get back to work and take it to Michigan State next weekend.

  3. Ok, business suits tonight.  Hands on your sticks and sticks on the ice, finish your checks, get traffic in front of Lindgren, stay out of the box and get it done.

Oh, and after the game if you want to TCoS on "home ice", go right ahead.  (today's version of Prpich drinking from the gopher goalie Kellen Briggs' water bottle).

5-2.  Let's see lines two and three tap in a couple.

Boeser, Gersich, Johnson, Caggiula, and LaDue.

    GO SIOUX!!!!

  4. Ever since attending an NCAA tournament game in Madison where the crowd in front of us chanted "F-you old people" to try and get us (seated behind them) to stop chanting "Let's Go Sioux", I have taken up a new view of college hockey fan chanting.  I am ready to return to "Who's she?  She sucks $#!t."  Intimidating chants are just part of the college game.

I do not, however, tolerate the drunken sot wearing ANY teams colors who can't allow others to enjoy the game.  Toss that idiot out on his ear.

  5. I didn't see the stats, but it seemed like SCSU had our number...

For sure, they had way too many chances in our end.  Matt the Cat played well, but JBSU just plain missed connecting on a number of opportunities.  And yet....3 points in the bank.  I'll take that any way it comes.  Also, TH recap has us outdrawn 2:1. Ouch.

  6. It is a fact that hawks exhibit the biological phenomenon known as sexual dimorphism, meaning that the male and female are distinctly different.  The female hawk is larger and more aggressive than the male, and is more prone to attack.  I will honor this new mascot as a Fighter, and I will (personal choice, mind you) call her Sue.  In the Lakota Sioux tongue she is known as Cetanwakuwa, or "attacking hawk".  I will support her, and the team she represents.  I welcome fans who likewise feel the same to cheer with me.

  7. There are good fans in St. Cloud.  There are good fans in every building.

That does not mean I don't want the Sioux to go down to St. Cloud and play like last Friday night, both nights, and head back home with a six pack.  And I don't care who doesn't like it.  :0:D

    SWEEP THE HUSKIES!!!

  8. Anyone else notice Boeser seemed gassed in the 3rd period - was not hardly moving - his offensive skills are great but seems to lack stamina for other parts of the game

I didn't notice that he seemed gassed, but I did notice that line had a ton of ice time early in the third.  Not surprising they didn't have much left in the tank the last six minutes, but enough for No 8 to launch that backhander.

I'd also like to applaud that line for the impressive shift they had in the second where they absolutely dominated play for at least two full minutes in the Hawks end.  Miami looked like they wished there were two pucks so they could have one to play with.  That was a great shift.

  9. No where near close.

At 1:38 of the video above shows a perfect snapshot of the puck crossing the blue line.

Boesers about 7 feet behind the blue line when it crosses.

    You might need glasses.

Boeser is indeed well behind the play.  I think the concern was that Schmaltz passed the puck laterally before he got to the blue line, and then the question is was the puck across the line before Schmaltz?  The video shows that it is (fully on the line) before Schmaltz enters the zone.  Much closer than 7', but still onside and an amazing play.

  10. This game feels like our first game this season vs. Providence.   Redskins scalp the Sioux tomorrow night in a close one......  Good game tonight.

There is iron in your words of warning for tonight.  I think we all know that if UND wants to circle the sticks tonight they will have to out-do last night's effort.  Miami will be looking for a split and I'm sure they will leave it all on the ice.  Should be a great game.

    GO SIOUX!!!

  11. I'm not sure I necessarily assume split. Haven't seen Miami play yet this year, but they don't seem to be as talented as in years past. Even the year they finished last, on paper they had the talent, things just didn't pan out. I like our chances better if Poolman is back in the lineup.

For what it's worth, Miami comes off a sweep of Western Michigan, who was coming off a sweep of Nebraska Omaha.  Using the transitive property of college hockey (dubious at best) they appear to be quite a team this year.  Using a more realistic view, they certainly appear to be capable of playing a solid game of hockey.  I am hoping that we can get our key players back in the lineup (Poolman would be great to see back) and BRING IT!

    Go Hawks!  Oh...wait...
