  1. It sounded like they had them in for an unofficial earlier this fall (which in "boogers and pee" spin meant it was only to keep up with appearances for Davies HS). I just give UND-1's story about as much credibility as Ron "Fanboy" Burgundy...who I seemed to remember being dead wrong a couple times during the 2014 recruiting season. It seems that NDSU has a fair amount of fanatics with too much time on their hands that think they can follow a bunch of kids on twitter and become a "recruiting expert". It's a pretty recent development, as most farms just recently were patched into the internet... In all reality and to keep this on topic, I'm thrilled that Bubba is bringing these kids in on PWO offers...they are very good athletes with good motors. They are pretty raw, but they have the ability to be contributors down the line from everything I've seen with them.
  2. At least UND-1 said he has sources..."Ron Burgundy" and his "Bison 5 News Team" talks like an insider, but never establishes his credibility, and always likes to spin things towards the "piss and boogers" crowd. I'm going to assume that both sides of this use hearsay, and thus assume the Hartness twins are happily committed to be PWO's at UND unless I hear otherwise from a CREDIBLE source. Welcome to UND Aiden and Tristan...from what I saw of you guys in the Dakota Bowl I'm confident Bubba will give you an opportunity and help you to develop into productive players during your time in Grand Forks.
  3. Your apology doesn't mean jack squat...and your analogy is way the hell out in left field (not to mention quite offensive...I never talk about NDSU that way even though your university lately is the girl that every guy gets his start with, but dumps immediately when bigger and marginally better prospects come along). If you were UND, you'd be stupid not to try and get this game on the schedule, and (in my opinion) if you were NDSU you'd be stupid to schedule it at all. NDSU has everything to lose and UND everything to gain from the situation. If I'm Mr. Faison I don't even think I'd worry about NDSU right now...rather I'd worry about getting my program up to an elite level and let the chips fall where they may (i.e. meeting in the playoffs to re-start the rivalry). I'm a die-hard Sioux fan, and I say leave NDSU alone...they can enjoy where they are at right now (they've earned it). Someday soon enough, they'll be knocked from their pedestal and their arrogance (from Gene Taylor's general attitude towards UND to idiot fans calling UND derogatory names like above) will catch up with them. Chances are this schmuck doesn't even remember the 90's...most Bison fans I know either jumped on the bandwagon in 2004 or have very "selective" memories.
  4. First off...being in Minot...the attempted murder charge was dropped right away, and not everything that was reported happened as it was told. Second...the kid was a transfer that had no prior criminal record (might have been dumber than a box of rocks, but no record). A coach can't 100% vet out all the bad eggs, especially if there is no history. The move to D2 has sort of ended the recruiting of MN kids, as MSU was not able to get D2 quality players from the state due to the competition and distance. It's more than fair to say that Coach Rudy has uncomfortably stretched his recruiting territory in order to get MSU to be competitive, and with that these things happen. By and large it's an isolated incident from my time living in Minot. All that being said, I don't love or hate the hire. It's certainly not flashy, but if he and Bubba have a good working relationship I don't think I really care where my OC has coached, as long as he can call a good game. Coach Vigen at NDSU never coached anywhere but, and (despite what some idiot NDSU fans have claimed), the guy calls a helluva ballgame, and is a real asset to coach Bohl. Rudy's been around the block, and I'm fairly confident he can get the job done at UND given his prior run at SCSU.
  5. As a former student and avid Sioux football fan...you can't expect the students to get excited for an NAIA opponent when the Gophers are in town. It also doesn't help that the product on the field is not what it was...that being said, if you move the student section to a corner, you will NEVER get the students back! Games in the Alerus will be the equivalent to D2 playoff games with Winona a few years ago (think 6500 in attendance). I watched the game on TV...and the home side attendance was nothing to brag about either! There were lots of empty seats on all sides!
  6. PM if interested and we can discuss price and all the other good stuff.
  7. AMEN to that ND Ball! She wanted to fly...and UND happens to have a great aviation program. Believe it or not sometimes a player is attracted to the school, not the other way around. I agree with everything you said!
  8. That is siouxdude's reply about the end of the men's game with VCSU last night. Maybe I was over the line saying that winning games is a prerequisite for criticism, but calling out Roebuck in a thread about a FLUKE win over VCSU is a low blow! The fact of the matter is that siouxdude always points the blame at the COACHES after every loss, but praises the PLAYERS after every win. To me, that sounds like someone with an agenda. Here's something for you to consider siouxdude...Maybe the men went for broke to come back, but the Sioux women don't trail DAC teams for 39 minutes only to come back and win by a FLUKE! They put them away in the first half and step on the throat of their DAC opponent in the second half.
  9. So are you the next Pat Summit? I may not post very often, but I'm a longtime reader (and a longer-time fan)...and you seem to find a way to rip the coaching staff after every loss. What's your agenda? Are you bitter because your kid is sitting on the end of the bench or something? Its always easy to rip on a coach behind the mask of anonymity. Personally, I trust Gene's basketball knowledge much more then your's. If three national championships and consistent 20 win seasons aren't enough for you, move on and cheer for a school like Tennessee where they fire any coach who doesn't win a title every year. We are in year ONE of a five year transition to D1 in case you didn't know! This ain't the NCC anymore...yet we are playing largely with players recruited to play NCC basketball. So far in nine games, we have played teams from the SEC, MAC, Mountain West, and some good D1 teams from lesser conferences. We still have a Big 10 team left to play. It's a helluva jump up in competition, and anyone who didn't expect this team to struggle during the first half of the season has impossible expectations. We've been blown out in only two of those games (playing in Wyoming is a tough task, and Green Bay is just tough!), so I feel like UND is ready to turn the corner for the rest of the season. You talk about the guards being afraid to make a mistake...maybe some of the blame for our struggles rests on the girls that play the game! I have yet to see the team play live this year but I have watched them since Gene came to Grand Forks, and the biggest difference I have seen in the last couple years is the mental toughness displayed by our players. We won three titles because women like Jenny Crouse, Katie Richards, and Becky Moen refused to let us lose in big games! It was fairly easy to see at times the girls didn't have the same toughness as the players of the past. Now maybe part of this is on Gene, but he doesn't put the ball in the basket or play defense. I trust that Gene and Brew are going to expand our recruiting base to bring in players that are going to get UND back to the top. I know that the coaching staff is hungry to get our level of play up to expectations. We went into this transition head first, and you have to expect some struggles along the way. I would much rather have our team finish 13-13 this year playing this schedule then going 24-1 playing NDSU's schedule in 2004. Siouxdude, when you win 1/10 of the games that Gene has won in his career, feel free to come back and rip on me and the coaching staff.
  10. Yeah...because Roebuck and Brewster would learn a TON from a 67-66 victory over VALLEY CITY STATE!!! I really hope this past year's recruiting class can work miracles, or UND men's basketball could get really really ugly over the next few years!
