  1. Make sure you add "in my opinion." I disagree completely. If I was voting, I'd be writing in a candidate not on the ballot.

Well everything I say is obviously in my opinion, just as everything you say is in your opinion unless each of us states otherwise.

A write-in is not necessary in this situation. It's Rau, Stoa, or Stalock.

  2. Not a good story. Don't care who we're playing or how 'doucheish' the guy was, if I saw one of our students do that, I'd do my best to have him/her kicked out of the arena and banned for the season!!! :D

I've had my share of Goofy fans throwing food at the back of my head during the F5 and I don't appreciate it!! :silly:

    Hahaha!!!

The guy who got the pizza in the face was the one who got thrown out for wearing the RED

  3. I think it's McBain or Stalock if you consider MVP a team's most important player.

Absolutely not McBain if you are going by most important, look at that terrible +/-

MOST VALUABLE, is Stalock no doubt. Best player this year, Stoa.

  4. Really? More Sioux fans travel to the Cities than Badger fans? (I've never gone to a Badger game at Marriucci, so I wouldn't know)

Maybe the Sioux fans are just more vocal, but it sure seems like it. BADger games the students are WAY more fired up than for the Sioux, but it's hard to argue against the way the Sioux travel to Mariucci. That being said, many of the fans that come from opposing teams end up stuck to Standing Room only since Season tickets obviously control a big portion of the seating....I'll give the Sioux credit, no opposing fan section is louder at Mariucci. (Thank you for not infiltrating our student section with Green like the stupid BADgers do with their ugly red. I hate them. A lot)

Oh so good story for everyone, although quote random....(it applies to BADger hatred)

At the basketball game on Wednesday, a lone BADger got into the student section and had fairly good seats. He was being incredibly "doucheish" if you will....All the students get free pizza and he was eating ours, which angered many of us. A guy in the front row takes 2 slices of pizza, whips them at the kid...Smokes him in the eye and the kids eye was huge and puffy and read, causing him to cry for a good majority of the game.

  5. I'm thinking some Gophers could move up after this weekend against the defensively challenged Michigan Tech...

I'll post my teams tomorrow night or Sunday.

A few guys are obviously locks, but I'd like to wait on a few others.

As for the ROY debate, Eidsness has been very good and exceeded expectations of most I would think, but that truly is Schroeder's to lose. Maybe a 1 goal weekend by Eidsness would push him over the top, but what do I know, he might already be the favorite...The homer in me says Schroeder no matter what, but only time will tell.

Good luck to both this week

  6. cool cool, ill browse online for the hat i want. dont worry i will keep it reasonable :silly: pm me your email then i can email you my address and link to the hat i pick out and you can just buy it online to be easier. yes lets do it next year for sure!

Alright, that'll work just fine for me. I PM'ed you my UMN email just to make you have to email a Gopher :D

It will definitely be easy to do it online, and next year is a for sure. We'll have to meet up next year at the Ralph or Mariucci (if you're going?)

  7. I'm watching the press conferance now, kind of interesting even if it is the Badgers (http://www.uwbadgers.com/audio_video/ top clip). One reporter asked if the Gophers were approached. They conceeded that the Gophers would be a huge opponent, but that there were "scheduling conflicts"...any bets on how willing they would be to play outside in Feb in Madison? (That said, I wonder if UND was approached...)

That would be very cool, but you have to think that the first call would be to the BADgers. Then maybe they'd approach other MN teams first, but UND would definitely be better for attendance.

Edit: meant to quote the guy talking about a Gopher/Sioux game in TCF.

  8. Jordan probably will win ROY. Not a big shocker there. The only person who really has a chance to beat Schroeder is Eids. Brad will likely take second though.

EDIT: Didn't realize you thought he should win MVP. Jordan Schroeder will not win MVP, but thanks for the great laugh I just got.

I know it probably will not happen, but theres not many people you could argue for it more than him.

And yes, other teams would struggle without their top line, but none in the WCHA is better than Stoa/Schroeder/Barriball...the rest of the team is pretty below average but those 3 are damn good.

  9. this is the final regular season weekend then we will do playoffs and no final 5

ill pick first since you will just go oppisite anyhow except of course you have the gophers sweeping which has caused you this contest ;)

Congratulations on your season victory, pick it out whenever you'd like and I'll get it shipped to you! All I ask is that its somewhere easy for me to pick up. I saw a pretty sweet one at LIDS but I don't know your style and that one was spendy as S*#T haha.

    Do this again next year?

I won't just pick all opposites, I will pick who I think will win once again...but I'm picking a lot of ties

  10. You aren't serious right?

Yes I am serious, why is that not a valid argument? Only his teammate has more points than he does in the WCHA, and that's largely because of him. He's leading the best line in the WCHA, and the Gophers probably would be one of the worst 2 teams in the league without that top line. I'm not saying the Gophers are good at all or trying to toot their horn, but you have to give him credit where its due.

  11. I know that UMTC holds the tie breaker over UMD and SCSU if the 3 teams are tied when the dust settles next week (SCSU beats UMD as well).

It is not out of the question for 4 way or even a 5 way tie (CC tie/Wisco split/UMTC, UMD, SCSU sweep = 31 pts).

Then what happens?:(? Do they just add up the head to head tiebreakers and who has the most is ranked on top?

Great question, I have no idea that is crazy.

All I know is that if Minnesota sweeps, Minnesota gets home ice.

  12. anybody know of a good mobile site to track college hockey scores? i've looked at cbssportsline, uscho, siouxsports, espn, foxsports, and a few others based on google searches. the problem with all of these is they don't update often enough. some of them update once or twice a period. some update at the end of each period. some update only when a goal is scored.

i want a site where a can track all the games on my blackberry simply by refreshing the page when i want an update and it will show the scores and the amount of time left in the current period of each game.

perhaps nothing this convenient exists, but if you know of a site that can accomodate, please pass that info on.

    thanks

Usually your best bet is to find the forums of the team whose score you're looking for, that'd be your fastest updating "scoreboard" if you will.

If you don't go that route, cstv is pretty good.

  13. Had the gopher game on at times tonight. Fisher had huge giveaways on D. Kangas was left hungout to dry, but it seems if you go high on him, you have great odds. The gophers just can't buy a win right now.

Couldn't agree more. Can't get those bounces we got earlier in the season...combine that with horrendous D from Fischer last night, Wehrs being a traffic cone, Schroeder getting the boot early, and we had no chance. Another horrible loss that might have just ended our season.

  14. I don't think a Big Ten conference automatically equals greats recruits coming in. You'll get a few better guys, but as a whole, I don't think it's as significant as you think, especially in the case of PSU. There are so many intangibles behind the scenes that players consider I'm sure, and we have no idea about them. Also, with a small conference, you'd have to play each team more often, and I don't think that's a good strategy because fans can have an excuse to not go thinking "I'll catch 'em when they're in town the next time."

I don't think Michigan's, Minnesota's, or Wisconsin's recruiting will change at all. If MSU can't get decent recruits now, I think it will still be difficult with a Big Ten conference....same with OSU...and for sure with PSU.

If it was so easy and such a for sure thing that all the stuff you mentioned would happen, it would have been done already.

Well obviously Michigan/Minnesota/Wisconsin's recruiting can't change. Minnesota usually has one of the top 2 or 3 classes, wich Wisco and Michigan right there too. There's nowhere to go except down for those recruiting classes. It's clearly not easy and a for sure thing, it's just my opinion.

  15. Why would the Big Ten Network have any interest in televising a hockey tournament where many of the games, even the finals, could easily end up being two non-Big Ten teams? I can't imagine the BTN execs wanting to televise any of the games unless at least one Big Ten team is involved.

Exactly. And I'm sure the BTN doesn't have rights over the CCHA tourney and wouldn't be interested in doing so. Why would they want the Final Five? Just for the Gophers and BADgers. No one else that would be watching the Big 10 network would really care about UND/MSU-M/SCSU/CC/etc... Obviously fans of all those teams would watch, but would other people who are fans of big 10 teams only? I just don't see why that would be a positive move for the BTN at all. Only if you knew your two B10 teams would be there, and both be in the championship.
