not that it matters but if the sioux somehow, someway pull out a miracle today and win they could go to worcester as the 3 seed along with bc and nh could go to the springs to protect bracket integrity. but that is counting chickens before they hatch.
what difference does it make if they call the clutching and grabbing or not? we don't taker advantage of the powerplay opportunities anyway-it's just 2 minutes of gametime wiped away.
as much as it pains me to say I think the gophers are a better team than us right now and in fact remind me of our 2005 team that went all the way to the title game. I think the gophers will make the frozen four.
cc 5-1, the sioux have shown absolutely no heart or desperationt he last month. we are far from playing are best hockey. we get sent to the springs and come home next saturday with nothing except a farewell to finley, chorney, oshie and duncs(?).
I don't care what happens this weekend as long as we don't get sent to the Springs. I'm not sure we could survive that region based on our recent history there.
if this were to be you would have the distinct possibility of having 3+ conferences represented at the frozen four versus just 1 or 2. which I think the ncaa would prefer.
anyone know what was up with putting miller with oshie and duncan? I didn't think he brought anything to that line last night. it also didn't make much sense to break up the martens, miller frattin line lwhich I thought had some good chemistry going. Kozek looked out of it last night on the third line.
Colorado Springs here we come? it is starting to look more and more like we will end up out there. I don't like the prospects of having to beat CC on their home ice to go tot he Frozen Four. We don't do well in the Springs.
as somebody said in a previous thread we will find out a lot about this team tonight and what they are made. do they come flat and shell shocked or do they come out guns a blazin like we haven't seen this year yet.
last night was a blue print: hold und's top two lines scoreless, give the sioux 5-6 power plays(as they won't convert on them) score 2 powerplay goals yourself and celebrate a win.
I have said several times this season reminds me of the 2000 season. we are in the hunt for the cup up until the very end but come up just short to the badges . in the 2000 wcha first round series we beat 9th seed denver 4-0 in game 1, lost 2-1 in game two and won 9-4 in game three. went on the beat the badgers in the final five and the rest is history. I doubt we'll put up a 9 spot tonight but plug in tech and cc and maybe history can repeat itself.
with all the injuries , sickness and scoring problems I sure as hell hope we aren't sitting here on sunday or monday talking about how the sioux ran into a hot goalie(s) this weekend and licking our wounds.
I think the teams that have been the most successful against us have been able to push us to the perimiters as we enter the zone-which I think has been the case a lot lately. this has been our lack of scoring problem because once we get pushed to the outside the possession has essentially been over becasue we have a very hard time creating a lot of opportunities in the slot area.
and we would have the toughest, but what else is new. this is where having the toughest schedule in the country and taking some lumps early would/will pay off.
