  1. Wow I think I have to agree with FargoBison on this one. What does the BigSky have that we want. It's an established conference yeah but where are our rivalries, and the costs would be much greater. As for the Big 10 that would be AWESOME but what are they going to do expand the Alerus or rebuild Memorial Stadium to hold 30,000 people. I don't know what the minimum facility requirements are for football but I don't think we are there.

The Summit even if it is not as revered as other conferences is still a conference with NDSU. I want that rivalry back on every front. And who knows maybe with the schools that we are talking about they would add football to the conference. Again I don't know the logistics but it would make sense.

no matter what, no way NDSU leaves the MVFC for a Summit football conference!

  2. I also like to see schools like Dicknson State, Mayville, Minot, Wahpeton, etc. do well, but not the Bison. It is different with them and I know the feeling is mutual among most alumni from UND and NDSU. I hope they get blown out so they, and their fans, can come back to reality. :D

I'll add this, you want to get hardcore, your hockey team will never get the publicity that The North Dakota State University mens Bball team has had in the past week, and that moron is the reality!!! Live with it!!

sorry and thanks for all the well wishers but I can't handle people as narrow minded as this idiot!! or sorry JEALOUS!!! :D

  3. If you went to UND I do not see how you can root for a Bison team of any kind. I would expect the same if you went to NDSU not to root for a UND team. That's just my opinion and I know there are many that disagree with me, but who cares. I know there are many that root for a team because it is the popular thing to do, I just don't understand that. I live in Fargo and I see the bandwagoners all the time for both teams. Makes me laugh because they just want to fit in and be on the winning side. I have no respect for those people, sorry if you are one of them.... :D

well your a idiot!!! ban me for it i don't care, nothing on this thread has been smack until now, and as most have stated its not a NDSU/UND thing its a STATE of North Dakota thing, these players NDSU has on their team have never played or been part of the UND/NDSU rivalry, so why is it so hard to cheer for a in state team??? grow up!! whay can you not "root" for the bison when your men and women can't compete at the same level for a few years?:D its completely childish!!

  4. It feels really weird the happiness for the bison and the thank you's back and forth but this is a big deal no doubt about that.. I'd love for the Bison to be in the big dance and i'll be cheering for them if they make it there.

Yeah it almost as if something has frozen over!!!:angry:

  5. Congrats to the Bison on winning the Summit League. I am a big supporter of Sioux Sports, but will be rooting for the Bison to make the big dance. Ben Woodside is one of the best basketball players we have ever seen around this area, he seemed to will NDSU to the win the other night against Oral Roberts. I've listened to BW with Dan Hammer on his sports program, he seems like a class act. Now our Sioux hockey team needs to wrap up our WCHA League next weekend in Madison.

First off thanks for the support from everyone, all are correct this isn't just a NDSU victory its a North Dakota victory what these kids have done and hope they can keep rolling is awesome for the ENTIRE state!!

Secondly Woodside, Winkleman, Nelson, Moorman, and Tvedt are all class acts along with the rest of the team, those big 4 seniors are great leaders and teachers for our upcoming underclassmen which towards the end of this year have shown they can play also, I seriously credit it to the seniors! again thanks for the support and also i'll be watching the Hockey guys good luck

  6. I see where the Fargo Force had an attendance of 4393 last night. I also couldn't help but notice that the big rivalry game between NDSU and SDSU had an attendance of 2644 last night(1000 were Rabbit fans). Looks like Hockey is king in Fargo. It is good to see that the rivalry game with SDSU is sure becoming a major event in Fargo. I thought NDSU was done with their transition.

Nice try, but look at the attendence of the Mens game last Saturday for the Bunny game!

  7. Gene Taylor has made it EXTREMELY clear he has no interest in playing the game. He keeps coming up with various twists on why they can't play the game. When the President's of the two institutions are able to come to terms the game will happen. Faison doesn't need to kiss Taylor's butt. Taylor as much as said he would only play UND in Fargo. He said their non conference games have to be large payoff games. Apparently the game will never happen then. UND would NEVER just play that game in Fargo. Taylor and Chapman need to wake up an smell the roses. Apparently they just can't see the big picture. There is a lot MORE THAN MONEY to be gained in the playing of that game. If NDSU has a couple more disappointing .500 seasons they won't have to worry about sellouts in Fargo anymore. They will be begging for the Bison Sioux rivalry. When the Bison were 2 and 8 a few years ago they could shoot a cannon through the Fargodome. With the talent NDSU lost this year and were only a .500 team they could be very ordinary next year. I'm starting to think they truly are afraid to play us. If they lost they would have a lot of crow to eat. Bring them on.

Kinda like some of the UND fans?? I find it funny that after one season of 10 games with crap home schedule, the UND backers push a bill to FORCE at least one quality game a year for the Sioux fans, as much as you guys don't like to admit it playing NDSU a top 25 team for the past several years benefits UND more than NDSU, as our regular season conference schedule brings in top 25 teams without begging! Go ahead and make fun of our .500 season but UND would have had 1 win in the MVFC last year, and ISU-B might have even pulled that one off!

I could only imagine what would have been said in 04 if NDSU fans sponsored a bill to Force UND to play NDSU during their transition!!

  8. My God, the bafoonery. It never ceases to amaze me how otherwise normal citizens absolutely lose their minds when they attain political power.

Isn't that the truth!! Can't people just let the Transitions run their course and the two teams WILL play, I would be willing to bet without anybody sticking their noses into the schools HIRED AD's business that there will be a 2012 game! Its just plain STUPID to think that NDSU and UND will never play again! but then again I don't think i've ever known a truly Smart politician

  9. UND needs home games, so I don't think we'd be in a position to dump Sioux Falls this year. However, I would be interested to know the buy-out for the Stephen F. Austin contract. That's a one-game deal, and if it's not in the $100k-plus range, that may be an option to more or less exchange them for NDSU (not in terms of the date, but in terms of keeping the schedule at six road games). My proposal would be: UND and NDSU split the cost of the SFA buy-out, and NDSU pays UND whatever the going rate is in Fargo these days for a non-conference one-game contract. Not that either side would necessarily agree to that, but IMO UND simply can't have a schedule with seven road games.

Just curious why you would think NDSU would even consider this?

  10. Listen whiney - despite your revisionist history the facts are that UND didn't play 'SU because even had they won (while at a significant scholarship disadvantage), they would have had their playoff chances reduced. They did it to protect UND, not to punish 'SU. Even at that, 'SU had the opportunity to play UND in GF, but 'SU deemed that to be insufferably beneath their over-inflated dignity. Also, had 'SU really wished to avoid being "surprised" by UND's stance, they could have inquired before making the jump and so been able to have alternative plans accordingly. They just assumed that UND would fall all over themselves for an opportunity to play 'SU. Perhaps some poor planning on the part of 'SU? Perish the thought!

I think this is happening right now! Fiason would probably do or take ANY deal Taylor would throw at him for a game in any sport!!

  11. Seen ZZtop in Sturgis this year, one word HORRIBLE, first song sounded ok considering the age, lost his voice after that. I would consider saving the money for something else!! just my opinion and what was seen by the 8 of us that went.

  12. Each (sub)division is a different classification of football. They compete for two different championships.

    WRONG!

Football CHAMPIONSHIP Subdivision (FCS) competes for the NCAA DI Football Championship

Football BOWL Subdivison (FBS) competes in selected Bowl games the BCS which is not sponsored by the NCAA

so looks like the only DI championship in football is awarded to the schools in DI FCS football.

  13. You're delusional if you actually believe that has a snowball's chance in hell of happening. The Gophers are my favorite D1 team, but even as a fan I'm objective enough to realize they just aren't good right now.

Shouldn't UND be your favorite DI team???

  14. I don't care if you call it a subdivision or a division. The terminology makes no difference, the fact of the matter is that they are competing for two different championships. I like to watch D1 teams vs. other D1 teams, and I-AA teams vs. other I-AA teams. That's my personal preference. Am I not entitled to that?

All FBS and FCS games are DI vs. DI if you don't like to use the CORRECT terms at least use I-A and I-AA as both are DI.

  15. I like it. There is none of this "tiptoeing" into the former IA playing teams like Ball State or Central Michigan like a certain school to the south.

Congrats on playing a Big 12 team, it will help with exposure, but you schedule 1 FBS game and start bashing NDSU, remember there is a certain team fron Idaho, you guys are scheduled out for 2 years with, and CMU, Ball. St, Minnesota, and Wyoming would kill them any day and every day. Pretty bad when Idaho won't play Montana anymore because the constant a**kickings! little statistic NDSU 3-1 against FBS 1-1 against BCS!

  16. I wonder what kind of a pay day we will get. I would like to think it would be 300K+. But I am also a little leary about them being notorious for running up the score when they can.

    2006 - SE-Louisiana 62-0

    2007 - Northwestern St. (La.) 75-7

yeah they'll bring it! good luck!

  17. No misunderstanding here, I was simply predicting that any future UND win over Cal Poly or UC Davis would no doubt be marginalized by a great deal of Bison fans as insignifcant in the same manner as UND's victories over Northern Iowa and Southern Utah were marginalized. The attitude in Fargo seems to be that any team the Bison plays is a good or great team when they take on NDSU, but suddently becomes a poor team when that same squad takes on UND. It's a generally poor argument by Bison fans, but seems to be common theme anytime a UND team accomplishes a significant victory.

Not disagreeing with you, but you have to admit its a 2-way street on that!! Fans from both schools have done nothing but beat each other down no matter who they play or what accomplishments they have received, and quite frankly its damn stupid. I have said nothing negative about UND or the GWC and GWFC, but you apparently read between the lines to find negativity, not ALL Bison fans feel that way.

  18. I believe CMSioux was being sarcastic, but aside from that point you know full well the first time UND knocks off Cal Poly or UC Davis we'll hear nothing but pissing and moaning from Fargo about how both of those programs are so poor that it doesn't matter if UND beats them.

DL i wasn't implying you wouldn't beat Poly, I was just stating that the same hype will be put into that as the first time SU beat them. I for one hope you guys do have the same games we did with Poly and Davis We thumped each team just to come back the next year and get thumped by them, all very exciting, wasn't trash talkin!!

  19. Let me get this straight when the Bi-sons were in the Great West not only was it quickly referred to as a conference, never an "affliation" but they bought rings when they won this "conference/affiliation" championship and even let the seniors into the "Hallowed Green and Gold Locker Room" a room that had not seen the light of day in many years. When the Bi-son were in the Great West it wasn't "a bunch of independents that anyone could schedule" it was immediately among "the top 5 conferences in the US". When the Bi-son were in the Great West it wasn't "a bunch of bottom feeders" it was "one of the toughest conferences in the US. When the Bi-son were in the Great West Affiliation and beating these so-called bottom feeders it was a crime that they weren't allowed to compete for the national championship . .. need I go on, I'm feeling a little green and gold around the gills.

NDSU was part of the United Basketball conference or ALLIANCE whatever you want to call it, in their early transition also. And I find nothing wrong with UND and USD being a part of the same concept, but to say the Great West FOOTBALL Conference was full of bottom feeders shows your ignorance!! Cal Poly is one of the HIGHLY respected FCS programs in the nation and UC-Davis is right up there, so yes it was highly touted when a transitioning team could play and beat a top ranked and established FCS team, as UND will find out in the coming years.

Here is the link to the still active website for the ALLIANCE for all those interested

  20. Does anybody know or remember just how good Carson Neuman was the year they played the Bison? I really don't care what they did previous years. NDSU usually bases everything about the strength of their schedule on what teams did in the past and not how strong they actually were the year NDSU plays them. NDSU fans are apparently worried that our schedule isn't tough enough. They usually say we don't try to schedule good teams. This year we tried our best to get as tough of schedule as possible. Some of those tough teams were even penciled on the schedule till they backed out on us. I think they need to stop worrying about us. For all the spouting off their doing, their having a hard time filling their own schedule right now . There done with transition and the mighty bison can't fill there own schedule. Maybe they should worry more about themselves and less about UND.

I agree, but remember when the schedule is made the AD's pick "power" teams from the previous year, and as NDSU and many other schools have found out, if you schedule a Ranked team from the year before they may turn out to be a flop. UND's 08 schedule is what I think is expected for a transition team, and everyone beats down Southern Utah, they may very well turn it around this year or next and be a very powerfull team (their 07 schedule was brutal and they nearly took a couple of those). I do not agree with the everyone is scared to play us card, thats just dumb. Good luck! everything will change in 09.

  21. The GW commish has USD just playing Poly and UND just playing Davis because of the "non-counter" year for the UxD schools.

He's doing what commissioners do: Trying to get the league into the post-season.

It's one year; it'll come and go and be done.

Exactly It will be here and gone before you know it. Good Luck

  22. Was at Sioux boosters today and Coach Mussman said that they had a signed contract from Cal-Poly for a game this year and that the Great West commissioner voided the contract. UND is having a tough time finding quality opponents because no one wants to play us. Said that the AD at Western Illinois said that their is no way they will play us. Said conversations on the phone with potential opponents go along these lines "Are you the team that beat Minnesota or the one that beat Northern Iowa, either way we don't want to play you."

I doubt any team is Scared to play you! I would have to think its more of a Don't count as a DI sort deal and Western Illinois is poised to make a playoff run in the Gateway and doesn't need a DII win or loss keeping them from the playoffs. Once UND counts as a DI opponent I don't think you'll have a hard time finding teams, and once the GWFC gets both USD and UND into the full schedule.

  23. He's going to regret leaving UND just like Blais.

Dale has gone to a Very good FCS school, I wish he would have stayed at UND to Build a Program thru the Transition, but this may also open the door for an up and coming coach to shine!! Not to bring it up as smack, but Bohl has done well, and this same scenario could just as easy play out for you guys. Good Luck!!
