So how is it possible no one from the world strongest Gateway/MVFC Conference won a championships between WKU and NDSU.

SIU and Youngstown St won before that, but SIU is down in the Pitts now and YSU is almost there.

But the histories of UNI, Ill St, and WIU are about as illustrious as NAU and below that of Idaho St.

The historical record will remember only Youngstown St and NDSU.  Between those schools, it had no national power schools, except departed for FBS WKU, that will be remembered.

    what narrative are you pushing?

The MVFC/Gateway since 2002 the WKU years you are so interested in have had 5 different teams in the NC game, the Big Sky only 2

    2002- MVFC; Western Kentucky

    2003- CAA; Delaware

    2004- CAA; James Madison

    2005-2007 - SoCon; App St

    2008- CAA; Richmond

    2009- CAA; Villanova

    2010- BSC; Eastern Wash

    2011-2015 - MVFC - NDSU

    2016 - CAA; James Madison

    2017- MVFC; NDSU

My thought is that UNI is the best of the rest MVFC teams.  They beat SDSU and played NDSU tight for 3 Quarters.  Don''t know how they got beat so bad by Youngstown.  If UND gets to 7-4, with their very good win against Montana, who will be either 7-4 or 6-5 after Sat., and UNI is 6-5, with a loss to Montana, I would hope UND would get in ahead of UNI.  I could see 1 MVFC team in at 6-5, but not 2.

Due to ISU-R and ISU-B scheduling non DI OOC games they hurt themselves.  I only se 3 at the most form the Valley, could even only be NDSU and SDSU at this point. Although ISU-B is on a 5 game win streak will it be enough?  If they win maybe but still lack 1 DI game.

I doubt they get left out after winning 6 straight should they win Saturday as its shown in the past the committee rewards late season winning

  3. That really doesn't make much sense, the Gateway after WKU won the title in 2002 stayed pretty level making the title game and Semis Regular.  MVFC teams took each other out in the Semis or Qtrs several times, don't get what your trying to say  ( I tried to quote Sioux Volley but it didn't work)

    Gateway/MVFC teams in the playoffs

2002 - WKU, WIU;       both met in the Qtrs WKU went on to win the Championship

2003 - UNI, WIU;         WKU all 3 made it to QTRs and lost, UNI lost eventual NC Delaware

2004- SIU, WKU;         both lost first round

2005- UNI, SIU;           SIU made the QTRS, UNI the title game Losing to APP st

2006- ISU-R, SIU, YSU;      All made QTRS, YSU played ISU-R and made Semis'

2007- UNI, SIU;           Both QTRS, SIU made SEMI's

2008- UNI, SIU;           UNI made SEMI's

2009 - SDSU, SIU;      SIU made QTRS

2010 - WIU, NDSU, UNI;        WIU Rd2, NDSU Qtrs NDSU lost to EWU eventual Champ (first year of expanded playoffs)

2011 - NDSU, UNI;       UNI Qtrs, NDSU Champion

2012 - NDSU, SDSU, ISU-R;     SDSU 2nd Rnd, ISU-R Qtrs, NDSU Champ (Beat SDSU)

2013 - NDSU, SDSU;      SDSU 2nd rnd, NDSU Champ

2014  - NDSU, SDSU, UNI, ISU-R, ISU-B;         Illinois ST beat UNI, NDSU beat SDSU, Both made Title game

2015 - NDSU, SDSU, UNI, WIU, ISU-R;             Illinois, UNI, NDSU all made Qtrs, NDSU beat UNI in Semis

2016 - NDSU, SDSU, ISU-R, YSU;               NDSU, SDSU, YSU made QTRS; NDSU and YSU Semis, YSU lost to JMU NC game

2017 - NDSU, SDSU, USD, UNI, WIU;         NDSU SDSU Semis, NDSU Champ

I don't see the big conspiracy as both Valley and BSC teams have generally faired pretty well  in Playoffs with some unfavorable draws, lets remember playoffs went from 16 to 20 to the current 24 since 2010, better conferences naturally got more bids

Something as simple as a better, more expansive gameday playlist would be nice. You can only hear Crazy Train so many times before you want to lay your head in front of a crazy train

Amazingly this is one that the FD still hasn't figured out...their music selection is absolute....S#$!T,  And its such an easy thing to fix with NO COST

I'm with you man 100%....sorry I had to chime in on this cause it grinds my gears Peace out

  5. To be fair, Minnesota's only in a bowl game because the interim AD promised the NCAA that nobody on the Gopher staff would drink too much or grope the college interns if they were selected.

lol......post of the day...I just had to sign in and give you credit.  Anyone remember the picture of Tracy Claeys eating the ice cream bar in the snow last year....

    Ok I'll punch out now..

  6. You might want to share that Sept 19th is just another game with the Bison media crew. I think they have some special things planned for that day that they aren't doing for UNI.

I also have a feeling Sept 19th will be the weekend every NDSU sport has kids on campus for recruiting (just speculation). You don't do that for just another game.

I don't deny the demand is there but to continue to downplay having UND visit while everything in NDSUs athletic dept says otherwise is getting old.

Absolutely the ND media is going to Hype it.....i dare ANYONE to find someone that wont be watching or listening that grew up in ND, its a ND business persons dream to have ads the week leading up to and during the game.

also who in the Athletic Dept has said anything negative?  if they have i missed it and would like to read or hear it

  7. Exactly!!!! After Wyoming our questions about the team, mainly the offense, should be answered.

not really, because those same player will get game time experience, it also can make a team better

a good ass whipping like UNI laid on us last year was a good thing IMO, no different when Indiana st beat us we woke up a loss isnt always negative

  8. Looks like Bubba and his staff are really strengthening our  recruiting in the state of Minnesota.    Just like before.  Really exciting.   It also good to see us  get recruits away from the MVF conference schools.  To a lot of high school kids the Big Sky conference locations has got to look very appealing.   They get to play all across the western United States and in a lot of beautiful locations.  The future is looking very bright.   Go Big Sky.

its a good recruiting method, look at the dominate teams in the region try to find pieces of the puzzle to work in your system.  Bohl did just that when we joined the MVFC, looked at UNI and went into their backyard and took guys like Billy Turner who at the time had a brother on the UNI team...no matter what any other bison fan says we did just that, look at the coach we have now...UNI legacy..whats that tell you

  9. What's funny is you guys are blasting Jack because he talks NDSU during the week....what do you expect his station owner is the flagship radio station for ndsu in the city ndsu is located.

Why doesn't a local GF station jump on the rights if it's such an important deal to have a UND guy calling it?

To me I'd be more mad a local station apparently has zero interest in getting the rights, obviously I'll get blasted for this so whatever. I post and visit here very little..

  10. Maybe they actually had great vision.  Had we also followed Northern Colorado at the same time, we would likely be wallowing in the Summit and MVFC right now along side the rest of the Dakota schools.

No thanks.  The 5 year wait was a small price to pay for Big Sky affiliation, IMO.  If we had to do it all over again, I'd want it done the same way.

yeah is sucks wallowing in the MVFC as the 3 time champs, along side SDSU who is perennially ranked nationally, also sucks that NDSU and SDSU are stuck in a BBall conference ranked higher than the BSC and each school has been to the NCAA tourney 2 times and one team has a win......man I'm depressed

  11. I get where you're going: shut them all down but the oldest, first University in the territory, the one started six years before statehood, 1883. Right? ;)

ok better example Iowa, but for population Wyoming is closer, im not 100% but I think ND has nearly 45-50% more population and 90% more of State Schools?

I didnt intend it for smack

  12. I don't know if anyone is really interested in this, but someone on this thread asked a while back about ND players on NDSU's roster and whether they were scholarship or walk-on. I've been on an internet research kick the last couple days, so I put together the info. I included a separate category for ND kids who were recruited but left the team for one reason or another(if I could find out why). I can't be sure I got everybody, especially unrecruited walk-ons who left the program. They can appear and disappear without fanfare. I also don't know if the scholarships were full or partial, and if/when players recruited as walk-ons were given scholarships.

I have no thoughts about the info, just passing the time on a wet and dreary Friday.

  13. The Big Sky has 5 teams in the top 18. The MVFC has 3 teams in the top 25. I would say from top to bottom the Big Sky is probably a little stronger than the MVFC. Without a doubt the Bison are clearly the best team out their though . I think SDSU is a rated a little higher than they should be. Even UND had a chance to tie them in the last 2 minutes of our game with them and UND is not very good. I think quite a few teams from the Big sky and Sam Houston and UNI are going to be battling it out for 2nd place. The Bison can start making a place for their 3rd trophy.

not according to Sagarin, GPI, etc...

MVFC has the #29 and 51 ranked team in all College football in the Sagarin, closest Big Sky is EWU at #84

Towson and Eastern Ill are higher than any BSC school

  14. As much as I want to agree tj, Lennon held the Bison to a grand total of 9 points last season. Granted, our offense wasn't anything special last season, but he has a solid track record for putting a good defense on the field. Putting a good defense on the field always gives you a chance(see any Steelers team for a longgggg time).

I'm in no way saying Lennon is a bad coach but siu was a great team before he took over

  15. Are you implying that Bison fans think the depth of the MVFC is better than the Big Sky. If so what would support that theory?

What would support it is the MVFC is the #1 ranked conference by both major polls with the MVFC averaging a 130 ranking with 10 team over a 143 average ranking with 13 teams over the Big Sky
