Great another one for the "Ignore" button - thanks for your interest in Sioux Sports, I think with a little effort you could find a swille place that cares.
Well it's obvious there is zero fun to be had on this forum, god you need to relax, just giving a little crap back to the post I quoted.
-
I saw where the school to the south got their ist commitment. It was a kid from South Dakota. He picked Fargo over Duluth. Hopefully we will get some soon. It doesn't seem like we ever get kids this early.
Also got a kid that had an offer from Central Michigan...you know that FBS team that we rolled at their place as a transition team when they were 3 time bowl team and back to back MAC champions
-
And if Alabama came in and done the same thing you guys would be giddy.....just saying
But NDSU fans would respond the same, so would USD and SDSU, let the guys in the offices fight over players....but then again we are the armchair QB's
-
Didn't read but sounds like your new uniforms will look pretty cool

Bump what?
You think muss is the coach of the year?

Hey, I am a Sioux fan and I agree with TJ. I care, I care not so much because I wish the Bison well, but because their success gives the Sioux something to compare to and to strive for. UND has improved their programs partly as a result of raising their level of play to compete with the Bison at least in the media. NDSU's success in FB and WBB in DII I think made UND improve their programs. I expect the same now that the Bison have moved up and had modest success in D1. UND will improve to hopefully match or maybe exceed the success the Bison have had in MBB, FB, and other sports. I was against the move to D1 originally, but now that we have made that choice let both schools be the best that they can be and healthy competition is good for both.
Thanks Ole I wasn't here to "smack" or Gloat about it, but i'm done.

On this site...........no one cares!!!
Well fine then, all I did was respond to a poster ON THIS site that asked a question about playoffs, and sorry to make you mad but tomorrows game has huge implications on what could happen and IT DOES pertain to the question asked.
and obviously you do care as you took the time to respond
-
Hey WYOBISONMAN, you obviously are closer this situation than we are, if NDSU wins on Sat are they in the playoffs or is there still a chance they could miss it?
A win against Missouri St Tomorrow makes it a Lock to the Playoffs at 8-3, a loss we are still not out at 7-4 as all our wins are DI wins with a FBS OOC win, the Bubble teams below us several have 6 DI wins (including Montana) and the ideal number is 7 (not a rule but a preferred guideline). The biggest thing is the Northern Iowa at Western Illinois game. Western wins and it gets messy. FCS Pres thinks the Valley gets 3 teams this year with that scenario.
Tomorrow is a HUGE game for NDSU

Whats funny is i never bashed the FD just the BSA and it is a dump for a D1 bball school. Tell me Bison fans some good points about it??
Its got the best heating system in the ENTIRE world, and I'll guarantee you can't beat that
-
Yes, they might not get kicked out, but do not rule out consideration for dropping FB since they haven't been competitive in years. Indiana is a tough state to play FB. Lots of competition for talent, even IU struggles most years.
ISU is not dropping football, they are increasing funding, just laid down new Fieldturf in their stadium and plans are for a renovation.
-
The bottom line on everything Bison is Taylor is an arrogant jerk, just trying to improve his own credentials for his next job. If the folks in Fargo do not see it they are totally blind. This guy is a Navy guy, Navy folks have huge egos! He cannot tolerate the fact that he has accomplished some neat things, but they are not earth shattering and he still is not recognized for them. To bad, life is tough.
Yeah Fiason is real class act also

I am not threatening anyone nor do I want someone to get hurt over this. But i do think that might hear from some people that are pissed off. As far as the alcohol and suicide things. I have read on this board that some of the anti-nickname people say that the nickname is the reason for some of the problems on the reservations, and we all know that is a load of crap. So my question is, when these problems continue what are they going to blame now. That is all.
Fair enough, But one thing I will say "they" is very broad when its a small minority of the minority making the assumptions. As a whole "they" all do not want this nor blame any problems on UND, you as a fan, or a nickname.
-
What did I say that is wrong. Get a life, I have one and it is good. I am just asking some questions here.
You were borderline threatening the SBOHE
Everyone understands the resentment at certain people, but to outlash and talk about the problems on the reservations truancy, alcoholism etc... is wrong.

This is the part that bothers me from the Herald article:
"We didn't have the votes on the motion to reconsider," board member Grant Shaft of Grand Forks said.
He and board member Duaine Espegard, also of Grand Forks, said they had calculated such a vote would fail on a 4-4 tie.
"I am a longtime Grand Forks kid so I find it kind of sad," Shaft said of today's decision.
Espegard agreed. "I think it is a sad day," he said. "I don't look at it as a win for anybody. I see it as reality."
My opinion: Make the board members vote. Don't calculate votes based on how you "think" people will vote on the motion. Make the board members put their vote on paper for the public to see. Never assume.
Kelley said the board's action today was not a surprise.
"It is a matter now of managing a transition," he said.
"I am happy to have a new set of problems to solve," he said.
"This is going to be a new set of challenges, and it is going to be hard work for everybody."
My opinion: Why does our president continually sound excited and happy about the name being changed? Especially the quote that I highlighted above. Just mind-boggling.
And he's supposed to be educated. Apparently he forgot to take public speaking 101. Or maybe the old-saying "Think Before You Speak." Either he's dumb and not thinking, or arrogant and doesn't care.
Sadly because it makes his job ALOT easier thats why

This was inappropriate. Please keep the discussion about the topic at hand (a potential UND vs NDSU game).
Thank you, Lets make fun of a disaster that could have wrecked alot of peoples lives and non the less the states largest city, now
Yes NDSU was down this year, its called youth, will we beat USD who knows? should we? YES, can they beat us? Yes. I will say one thing though we WILL have a different offense this year as our Receiving corp will have depth, height, and SPEED. Our d-backs have the talent and Speed to compete witht he other valley teams its just a matter of coming together. Yes the MVC has overall good teams I know alot on here like to look at their records and make statements, but I've watched every game and noticed a huge difference in athletes, with the biggest being speed. The last recruiting classes were all speedy so that will help.
-
Boy, I sure hope that Fargo does not flood again this spring. Just think if it does all those Bison turds floating north to clog all the drainage ditches and sewer covers that might cause added flooding to the RR north of Fargo. Hey, I just had a revelation, use those B turds instead of sandbags. That would save the day in Fargo for sure! But if they didn't, who would care? A city trying to be big league that is a joke on the national radar.
You are complete Idiot

Agree that NDSU has some good prospective recruits, but seniors like Sussenguth, Vaughn, Pennick, and Flowers were also hyped a lot in the media and they haven't really lived up to hopes.
What Woodside, Winkleman and Nelson accomplished was impressive and did help with recruiting, but honestly, a repeat of that type team is something NDSU might not experience again for a generation. More NCAA bids might be possible in a few years, but as a 15 or 16 seed.
pretty hard to judge players that seen the court like 10 minutes total last year, this years seniors never got a shot, I'll admit it, but how can you say NDSU will NEVER get recruits like those again? When Woodside, Winks, Nelson were recruited they were not wanted by any other DI schools, but Miles threw it out there and recognized their talent. The huge advantage they had was they played 5 years together, thats something that most schools don't get. Trust me NDSU and UND will get a jewel in the rough now and then but your right, we will not get the "star" every year
-
Agree with those statements. But ... where's the interest in Bison basketball this year? Attendance is down. In most DII years, there was more attendance than this year. It's almost as if last year didn't happen - fans either don't care or it is forgotten. Attempts to make men's BB into the second cash generator for NDSU is just not happening, and won't happen as long as they are playing in the BSA.
yeah I'll bite. Its a serious rebuilding year and most of the people following the program KNEW this year was going to be 4 new guys and 1 vet. (Tveidt) next year will be different. I'm not saying it will take several game to get people rolling again but we have already signed and got verbals from some players that will be real game changers (if they can adapt to the college ball) Trayvonn Wright #81 PF overall from Iowa, and Marshall Bjorkland from MN, along with the developing youngins WILL compete in the Summit
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/t...amp;season=2010
The accomplishments Nelson, Woodside, Winkleman and Andre Smith (better than Mooreman) did have already helped with recruiting. But I do agree the BSA is a complete and total !@$! hole
BTW we are still averaging 2500 FPG

I chalk it up to a transition year. I would never say I am embarassed by a UND team unless it is clear the players have given up on themselves, which I doubt is happening.
The move to Division I means perpetual mediocrity for sports such as basketball. Look at the 64 teams that make the tournement those with seeds lower than 12 are almost always bounced in the first round and lower level conferences never get seeds higher than 12. Yes there are exceptions but not very often. We need to enjoy and support the basketball season and team no matter what their record. I would say if next year we are still losing every game by double digits - it would be time for a coaching change.
but that 1 run deeper than thought gains the school more publicity than ANY DII, DIII, NAIA championship EVER would, and thats not debatable. Even what NDSU did last year got them more attention than the DII champs, CBS sent a crue with them, gave them cameras, ESPN at the Midnight Madness it was great marketing no matter what others say or think.

What chance does UND have in joining the MVC?? Also with the horrible seasons of Indiana St. is there a chance of them leaving the conference to really opening the door for the Sioux and Coyotes?
No smack intended, but Have talked with fans from other schools, in the MVFC and their thoughts on adding more teams isn't good. Also YSU, ISU-B, ISU-R are not going to travel 2 more times to the Dakotas, if they had to add one more team USD has the edge due to location, but I don't see it happening. Also some say ISU-B will drop Football, but their new AD has a passion to revive the sport as the old AD didn't care about it, they have built new Lockerooms added new fieldturf etc. Illinois St IS NOT going to the MAC as they would give up alot in the MVc for Mens BBall, Afterall NDSU and SDSU barley got in due to location. 9 is where the Gateway/Valley has been for some time and looks like its going to stay that way. In all seriousness I foresee a push for the entire Conference to move up in the Future (not soon). Most Valley fans think the conference is holding out adding a 10th team so Wichita St. always has a place if they bring FB back, which would be sweet
-
Thought maybe you guys would find this interesting, could be good for the stability of the Great West.

oh yeah sorry if its in the wrong forum

NDSU barely obtained membership in the MVFC, while SDSU had little opposition. Same issues apply to UND vs USD. Many of the MVFC schools don't necessarily want the strongest programs or potential than they offer: they want a win. This isn't like getting in an BCS conference. Bascially, Vermillion is an easy bus ride to almost every school and USD's budget and facilities aren't a threat to other schools.
This MVFC situation is very different from the Summit. When the Summit added USD, that move basically prevented UND from having any option to go to the Big Sky (no travel partner available). USD much preferred the Summit anyway to the BSC (travel in the BSC would have killed USD's already tight budget). By taking USD first, the Summit, which wanted both USD and UND and needed more schools anyway, could bascially call the shots in how it would accept UND. Right now, the MVFC has no need from more schools unless Mo St or Ill St go FBS. The MVFC also wants to preserve a slot in case Wichita State ever restarts football.
Not saying UND to the MVFC won't ever happen, but the MVFC isn't even knocking on UND's door right now. The Summit is.
take it for what its worth, but the only reason SDSU and NDSU are in the MVFC is timing!! they came into the DI world perfectly as Western Kentucky entered the FBS world while SDSU was in fact more appealing for distance purpose the MVFC seen an opportunity to take the league to 9 with NDSU and also add 2 strong teams with a tradition of playing each other, as for USD and UND in the MVFC it won't happen with the current schools and the chances of 2 teams leaving anytime in the next 10 years is doubtful, some think Indiana St. will dump its program but they as of this year have installed Field Turf, upgraded facilities and coaches, picked up some nice recruits, ramped their Marketing etc... they will come around.
-
This isn't related to scheduling, but personally I feel that in general, the Big Sky is a better overall conference than the Summit. You have larger state-named "flagship" schools like Montana, Montana St., & Idaho St., along with a high quality school in Weber St., and a traditionally familiar school in Northern Colorado versus commuter schools like IUPUI, IPFW, Oakland, and UMKC.
Don't get me wrong, I would love for North Dakota to get an invite to the Summit..............all the other Dakota schools plus an auto-bid home for every sport. That would be awesome.
But on top of the "prestige" factor, a UND fan has to consider that Summit membership means across the board, one set of opponents for football (Great West), another set for hockey (WCHA), and another entirely different set for basketball/everything else (Summit League).
UND won't be given the choice, but if they were, I'd take the Big Sky every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
Fair enough at least you supported your thoughts with something other than this >
-
Good game if you can go out there and win, then ND dominates Montana in FB!!!! boy would that P-off the e-grizers
I hope so.Big Sky > Summit League/Gateway Conference
also the Summit was #26 in RPI last year the BSC was #24 Summit actually passed the BSC once in the regular season, the BSC is not as strong of a conference as you like to think but your hatred for NDSU causes you to distort the truth.
Also there is no more Gateway conference it is now called the Missouri Valley Football Conference
and last year was the first year in 6 that the BSC was ahead in the Final RPI of the MVFC with a #18 and the MVFC at #21 but the MVFC as a conference had a 3point higher Strength of Schedule
so that argument doesn't stick
