  1. You guys are overrated and dont deserve to be ranked. Ever.

J/K. I think you guys deserve to be Big Sky Preseason 1 and a top 10 ranking. Favorable schedule and see you finishing 9-2, with a very good seeding. Nothing is guaranteed. Just look at our 2008 season . That being said I'd probably prefer to avoid playing you this season. Just being honest.

    P.S. I hate you guys

Not sure limiting coverage is a smart move. Few bad years and you might regret that. I know UND doesnt have a forum contract but Bubba and UND should invite Fargo Forum people up to GF to cover UND games.

What better way for the forum to stick it to NDSU then to send koplack izzo and mcfeely up to UND to do a pre game show with miller and schlossman and cover und games. That and start putting UND games on the front page in fargo. I'd love to see forum comm step up their UND football coverage. The job Bubba has done deserves more exposure & coverage from them in the paper and on tv anyways.

Except there isn't a market for UND football right now

I thought the rule on pro days is you can either do one in your home town or at your home college site (or nearest).  I don't know if you are able to do more than one.

I don't know what else Will would have tested.  He knocked his Minnesota day out of the park.

Crockett did Ndsu and U of M

Wonder how long until the IPF hosts the pro day for the state of ND

Not sure if this is serious or not. Im assuming it is from the stuff I run across here. But, thanks for the laugh.

  6. congrats on the hockey. i believe theres an ndsu alum who was the lead designer of the expansion of caesars palace, mgm grand, and mandalay bay in vegas; along with other gaming and resort projects. also another guy who was lead on panama canal expansion. hehe

  7. How similar is the offence/defense/etc compared to what Kleiman runs at NDSU?  You would think they would have similar run teams since Keiman was under Bohl for so long.  Anyone notice similarities from last year?  If so, the Wyoming game would deffinitely help us prepare for the Bison 2 weeks later.

Its pretty similar but klieman/polasek ran more shot gun/jet sweeps/read option

  8. Wyoming will be no pushover, but I agree that they will run what NDSU will run. If anything, at least their team isn't returning a winning squad, but they will be improved I'm afraid. Nevertheless, UND has a chance.

I think you will see more spread looks with our personel next season and polasek using some wrinkles from NIU: but virtually the same power run offense for the most part.

  9. NDSU's FBS opponents since 2008 (post transition): Wyoming (4-8) Iowa St (7-6), Kansas (3-9), Minnesota (3-9), Colorado State (4-8), Kansas St (8-5), Iowa State (2-10)  total record: 31-55 .360

Bohl had a good strategy, required 6 home games, must schedule cupcake FBS team (K-State only exception), and weak OOC FCS teams (home only!)

What are you trying to prove? NDSU can beat cupcake FBS teams, unlike UND?

  10. Oh I see...

So I suppose they have no interest in Jade Lawrence then either, correct?

Your quote up there is false ^^^

They did the same thing at the same time with Montague and Ferguson at minimum last year.

Jade Lawrence is a different person and was probably higher up the list a bit.

  11. It sounded like they had them in for an unofficial earlier this fall (which in "boogers and pee" spin meant it was only to keep up with appearances for Davies HS).  I just give UND-1's story about as much credibility as Ron "Fanboy" Burgundy...who I seemed to remember being dead wrong a couple times during the 2014 recruiting season.  It seems that NDSU has a fair amount of fanatics with too much time on their hands that think they can follow a bunch of kids on twitter and become a "recruiting expert".  It's a pretty recent development, as most farms just recently were patched into the internet...

In all reality and to keep this on topic, I'm thrilled that Bubba is bringing these kids in on PWO offers...they are very good athletes with good motors.  They are pretty raw, but they have the ability to be contributors down the line from everything I've seen with them.

Ive never met UND1 or w/e so I'll side with Mr. B.

  12. My source down in Davies told me that NDSU is going after the Hartness boys now.  Been in school a couple times and are trying to get them to flip.  Nice of NDSU to start recruiting the kids on January 25th, really shows you want them.    ???

We officially got a walk-on battle royale.

    This is false.

  13. And I know a local kid who has 3 rings from SU and has been done with school since last May.  He has no job and isn't really interested in looking for one.  He sits in his parent's basement all day playing video games.  Is that what it means to be a football player at SU?

Those rings don't mean squat if you don't get anything else out of college.  My son won't play college football and won't have any rings but I trust that his future will be a lot brighter as a teacher and coach for the next 40+ years vs. some of the slugs that have those rings.

There is a hell of lot more to be learned in college than what you get on the football field and the number of rings don't really tell much of the story.

I'm sure he represents the vast majority of Ndsu players right? Also I'm sure UND has never had a player sit on their butt.

  14. According to Bisonville, North Dakota kids are no longer good enough for them. They are above them and will only take a few per year now. That is, now that they only got two in-state kids and UND got six. Before it was vital to get ND kids, back when Mussman did a terrible job.

Maybe they should send their coaches into schools (like Davies and Moorhead) before the middle of January. I see they are lying again over there saying they weren't recruiting the Hartness's at all. Why was Hedberg at Davies last week? After putting the press on Lawrence at Moorhead.

I have a hard time believing anybody on Bisonville said ND Kids aren't good enough anymore. Unless they were trolling. ND is a state that is going to have a "down class" as far as numbers and talent go from time to time.
  15. What about the kid who is working 2 jobs while trying to pay for his school, books, room and board, etc and down the hall the starting running back for the football team doen't have to pay for any of those because it is covered under scholorship. I get it that football demands are high and these kids don't have time for a part time job as well as going to class. But they are getting their education paid. And its not like the season lasts all year. Can't these kids get jobs in the summer like every other college kid does? So their scholorships might not cover books other stuff. Get a job in the summer to cover the couple hundred bucks you need to have for that.

The NCAA and TV networks aren't making money off of non students athletes. They aren't brining more exposure to their schools. Some of the athletes do work in the summer and between spring ball and fall camp is really the only time they have enough time to work. At least for Division 1 and probably even some lower levels.

  16. Now we're back to the old big fish in a small pond argument. There are more DI Hockey players in the NHL than there are FCS players in the NFL, but the NFL is an order of magnitude bigger and more popular league. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

At any rate, by traditional measures of popularity, FCS Football and college hockey are roughly equivalent. But, NDSU's current run in football combined with its recent success in the NCAA basketball tournament has, in my opinion, brought it a great deal more exposure than anything UND's athletic department has going. All you have to do is walk around Dallas wearing NDSU gear to see the effect of it.

I would hold off the not so close. I want to to know the answer for sure, but I counted on this site: http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/number-of-nfl-players-by-college/2014/ 352 FCS players were on NFL rosters for this season. The number is a little lower than it was at the beginning of the season. In 2012 there were just over 300 who played NCAA D1 hockey http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/21792005/college-hockey-players-increasing-in-number-importance-in-nhl%3Cspan%20class . Im sure that number is a little higher now this season. Also have to keep in mind NFL rosters are much bigger but just wanted to provide numbers. If anybody has the current NHL numbers thatd be great.

  17. What a great thread. The 2011 Bison Alumni and Bison (Lt.) Dan get their talking points from More Human(n) than Human(n) lakesbison and scurry here like good little rats and profess their loyalties, along with a couple other minions. But "UND is not a rival". OK.

One NFL scout comes to Fargo to look at Kyle Emanuel and makes a comment to Klieman regarding Carson Wentz and that becomes "all the scouts", turning this thread into ND Girls High School Hockey 2.0.

Great win by NDSU last night in a game that was delayed due to a high school basketball game in Illinois, in December, running long. That is a harsh dose of perspective. Nonetheless, what an unprecedented run the bison are on. Not sure what App. State did in years sandwiching their three peat, and I won't look it up. But this has been pretty impressive. As a UND fan, I have thought there is no way they can win this again and I have to hear about it until next season. For three years. That in itself is getting old. I hope Coach Bubba and his bosses are paying attention.

All that is left to complete this tired thread is a link to a Jeff Kolpack article declaring last night's game yet another "statement" game, which is turning into the most overused description out there. Even the sportswriters are getting bored. Here you go:http://www.inforum.com/sports/bison/3639013-kolpack-bison-defense-bounces-back-statement-game

Espn doesnt cut out of a program until its over. Doesnt matter if its Fcs or Nfl. But, HS bball on espn over fcs is kinda pathetic for Fcs
