  1. One poster over there in the game thread ripped Mankato's weak schedule - totally unaware that Bowling Green, Michigan Tech, UMD, and Nebraska Omaha are all top ten teams.
  2. Big hug, Johnboy!
  3. It won't happen this year...but I would bet that the "permanent host" of the tournament might suggest it as a change next year. Under the guise of "maximizing attendance," of course. BTW, one fan over at GPL did inquire last night about today's game-time and if the "Gopher Rule" was in effect this weekend. MN has it's own gobc too - the Gopher Old Boys Club. It's on the agenda at Monday's meeting at the King of Diamonds in Inver Grove Heights.
  4. I thought the same thing as well - Nelson was down at the 1:33 mark and play continued to 1:13. The first Gopher pass went directly to the area by him on the ice and I already mentioned the Mav player (believe it was the same defender both times) jumping over his leg and then his stick. Kudos to Williams for sticking up for his player and saying "I'll take a penalty shot...just get my teammate off the ice and some medical attention."
  5. What is your take on Nelson being down and play continuing? Twice in that sequence a Mav player had to either jump over his leg or avoid his stick - either time could have resulted in another potential injury or further injury to Nelson. I thought play could have easily been stopped without too much argument.
  6. Doug McLeod: "Nelson is still down...the ref isn't buying it." Had that been Kyle Rau, it would have gone something like this: 'Rau is writhing around on the ice in obvious pain...I cannot believe the ref is letting play continue! Oh the humanity...'
  7. That was a tongue-in-cheek post by Rednek, bale, in reference to Lucia's comment about the age of Mankato's players. Somewhat similar to the company line last spring when some Gopher fans felt a title was a done deal against a school they'd never heard of, then when Union started rolling MN, the discussion turned to how old the Union players were. Nevermind that the two oldest players on the ice were wearing M's on their jerseys...
  8. Rest in peace, Mr. Cub. A sad day for all of baseball.
  9. Johnboy, I take back all that bad stuff I said Bout you...
  10. Fun game to watch, bale31. Very happy for your coach and team.
  11. Totally agree. Nelson had to be helped off the ice.
  12. how manny nattys u got?
  13. PM me your cell # if you want to see my Zapruder video of the play.
  14. Rau grabbed the referee's shoulder after the net was dislodged to voice his opinion on the matter.
  15. Doug McLeod and company found it hilarious...rest assured, had that been Kyle Rau writhing around in pain on the ice, they would have all been screaming for play to stop.
  16. Nelson was the Mankato player injured - took a rocket slap shot from Boyd right off the leg. He appeared to point at his right kneecap when the trainer came on the ice.
  17. I thought enough action was going on around him to maybe cause an official to blow a whistle. Will have to rewind the DVR and watch that sequence of events again.
  18. Going back to the injured Maverick on the ice...what is the rule for blowing the whistle in a case like that? It seemed like play continued forever in that sequence. I know Minnesota kept possession of the puck but at some point, doesn't player safety come into play?
  19. I like that as well - but it'll never happen.
  20. No offers yet. I'd seriously go to the game if given a ticket though.
  21. 7-4 Michigan. Ballgame.
  22. That guy's such a prick.
  23. Well that escalated quickly... 6-4 Michigan courtesy of Selman.
  24. Kile makes it 5-4 Michigan. Wolverines clearly the best team in the B10 right now. The South Bend regional is waiting for you, Red.
  25. Zach Hyman with an awesome goal to tie up Wisconsin at 4.
