If I give you $10 just for the heck of it and you promptly turn around and drop it in the collection basket at St Michael's Church, does that make you a generous man?

This must really eat away at Lucia. He's basically forced to get rid of his good friend John Hill, then when the team's fortunes turn around, the credit is almost exclusively given to Guentzel. Maybe since he gets so much credit when things go right, MG has grown tired of being second fiddle?

I really think the issues in the Gopher locker room are what's holding him back. Word that Rau isn't the most popular guy on the ice are now coming from his own team, not just opposing players. It's also been reported that Lucia and Guentzel can barely tolerate each other these days, let alone coach together. The "coach-in-waiting" thing seemed like a good idea at the time, but I have a hunch Boeser is wondering if Lucia's going to be there for more than his freshman year if he decides to commit.

Given that ESPN can barely devote any time at all to the NHL on Sportscenter, I must say, I'm a bit surprised by this.

Yep, a Harvard vs Northeastern game would have been great for the Beanpot.

Oh what could have been...

Go Northeastern.

Go Harvard go!

Multi-millionaire married to a supermodel gives away car that he "owned" for all of fifteen minutes. Gee, stop the presses, fs4l, that's quite a story!

Did I miss the Stanley Cup banner-raising in Boston last June? Back on topic...sure looked like Dean has renounced all things UND this past weekend.

I've watched a lot of red paint dry over the years - especially 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008!

Dave Bergman, known for the hidden-ball trick at 1B and a member of the 1984 World Series champion Detroit Tigers, has died. He was 61. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2015/02/02/detroit-tigers-dave-bergman/22755701/ I was and am a Tigers fan. That 1984 season was incredible in so many ways and there were so many great players on that team. A 9-0 start to the season and 35-5 after 40 games - just wow. Bergman's walk-off 3-run homer against the Blue Jays in early June of that season was a key moment for that team. So many great players - Chet Lemon, Larry Herndon, Darrell Evans, Kirk Gibson, Dan Petry, Jack Morris, Willie Hernandez, Lance Parrish, Aurelio Lopez...it's a travesty that Lou Whitaker and Alan Trammell are not in the Hall of Fame. A damn MLB travesty. Rest in peace, Dave Bergman. And thanks for the memories of that magical season at Tiger Stadium. It's hard to believe it was 30 years ago.

ESPN's 30 for 30 episode this Sunday is "Of Miracles and Men." The preview asks the question "what if...the miracle we remember is the game they want to forget." I bet it'll be interesting.

Saw Rob Grobkowski on Jimmy Kimmel's show last night. Seriously, he HAS to be Ogre's son. The guy is a moron.

I love sports as much as the next guy - probably moreso - but citizens should be outraged at the amount of money put into these ventures. As long as fans continue to fill the stands, owners will hold them hostage when they think a stadium upgrade is in order. Football is the one that really kills me. A couple of meaningless exhibition games, 8 regular season games, and maybe a home playoff game or two. At whatever cost is necessary, I guess.

Joe Robbie Stadium? Pro Player Park? Pro Player Stadium? Dolphins Stadium? Dolphin Stadium? Land Shark Stadium? Update? How about just changing the name again?
-
Nope. Check out what happened in 1978... http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/02/01/beanpot-semifinal-games-postponed-tuesday/hFhf8pWqK8v9D6LMDilwRJ/story.html

Harvard vs BU and Northeastern vs BC postponed until tomorrow. Should be great Beanpot. If Harvard and Northeastern win, do the Gophers get moved to the 7:00pm game anyways?

Atlanta's new stadium is projected to cost 1.2 billion dollars. And in 20 years, they'll want another one.

Aren't the Georgia Dome and Turner Field only 20 or so years old?
