Looking down the lineup, I'm wondering who is going to step up and win some faceoffs this year? It would be nice to develop someone that can do that in the clutch. Simonson? Schmaltz? Excited, as always, to see how it plays out!
Simonson put up some pretty decent faceoff numbers when he played last year.

I'll take a crack at the lineup speculation:
Johnson-Schmaltz-Boeser
Wilkie-Caggiula-Chyzyk
Poganski-Simonson-St. Clair
Janatuinen-Gersich-Gornall
Ausmus-Stecher
Thompson-LaDue
Shaw-Poolman

I've bee a vocal critic of Roughriders, but it seems pretty obvious, even to me, that it's the best option remaining. And I generally agree that a new nickname is better than no nickname, but honestly, when compared to this list, no nickname is not a bad option.
For me:
1) Roughriders - I don't like that we're copying the local high school team, but it's an official nickname of the state and is pretty unique
2) Cavalry - I like it in theory, but the confusion with Calvary can't be ignored. About half the people on this board spell it wrong, and probably say it wrong too. On the other hand, a lot of people spelled Sioux wrong too (but at leas it was easy to pronounce).
3) North Dakota
The remaining options are all unacceptable in my opinion.
What truly frightens me is that with all the really bad nicknames in the Final 15, at least one of them is sure to make the Final 3. And when that happens, look for outside interests to wreak havoc with the public voting process.
Agreed. The only option left that makes sense.

Scott Arniel and his wife continue to make their home in Winnipeg. GF is a lot closer than NYC...just sayin'
I was gonna throw Arniel out there too.

Interesting to see the latest trending searches on HockeyDB.com:
1. Dave Hakstol
2. Brad Berry
4. Brett Hextall
6. Jonathan Toews

Really.......why is that? Just curious.
Just a hunch. No inside information. I just think the move will be to maintain consistency, especially with regards to the new recruits, and I believe Berry came back for this opportunity.
-
Will be very surprised if Berry isn't named head coach very soon.

If you go back and read the article now, he's corrected it.
Actually, it still says that Jones had committed to North Dakota, and then decided to go to the WHL.

I am having a hell of a time with uploading video to Youtube tonight. Here's the Pattyn bowtie...
If the NCAA had any integrity, Rodrigues wouldn't play tonight.

Gaarder puts the Sioux up early. BU answers soon after. Tight game until Parks nets the winner late in the game. Pattyn with an ENG for good measure.

I could see him leaving if UND hangs #8 this year...
I could see him trying to get #9.

Everybody keeps talking about Zane leaving. I have a feeling he'll be back for his senior season, regardless of what happens next weekend.
