I can already see what the naysayers will say... In 06/07, the only reason Duncan was good was because of Toews. In 07/08, the only reason Duncan was good was because of Oshie. Now, in 08/09, the only reason Duncan will be good is because of VV. I don't care what they say, he just keeps putting up 40+ points and shutting them up.

Henderson probably had the biggest impact for a walk-on.

That's one long sentence there.

60/40 in favor of the good guys now. Keep voting!

It's time to move on from the Paukovich hatred on here. It sounds like both Bina and Paukovich have tried to move on, maybe the fans should as well. It's just my opinion, but I feel that the Paukovich and the Holy Cross situations have run their course. Time to move on, and focus on 08/09 Fighting Sioux hockey.

I was robbed by a Gopher fan...and I didn't even see it coming!
-
I would put Jeff Panzer ahead of Blake.
-
So what are you saying...you think they should run 5 forwards and only 1 dman? That might work, but it sounds too risky for my taste. And yes, I was kidding. The offseason must be too long, as the sarcasm meter appears to be broken on this message board.

In general, the goalie doesn't have much impact to each game, or to a team over the course of the season, so Hakstol doesn't have a need to have a goaltender coach. So why would Hakstol see the goaltending position as important when it doesn't really factor into the outcome of the game much? Honestly, you could run 3 forwards, 3 dmen, and no goalie out on the ice. Just put the middle dman in front of the net when in the defensive zone. That would work for most situations. If you were playing a team without a lot of offensive talent, you could switch it up and run 4 forwards and 2 dmen. That would confuse the other team and generate a lot of offensive chances.

Walski didn't play last year because JPL was one of the most consistent goalies in the NCAA all season. I have faith that Walski and Eidsness will be fine in net this upcoming year. People need to chill. The Sioux are going to be a tough team this year. Great defense, better offense than most are giving credit for here (all aboard the Trupp Express!), and we might as well ride a freshman goalie to a national title.

He was a midseason emergency walk-on. I'm sure he knew that his time wearing the Sioux jersey was limited. And I'm sure he enjoyed it immensely regardless.

I might be wrong here, but I thought it was universally known that Gopher fans come on here regularly to make sure that their beloved Gophers aren't being talked about. And, if they are, they are required to immediately report back to GPL and tell their fellow Gopher fans the exact details of the situation. That seems to be how it goes down from what I've seen. The truth of the matter is, that yes, the Gophers do get talked about here. Why? Because they are our biggest rival for hockey. So obviously they will get mentioned (and ripped on occasionally...but that's just in good fun ). IMO, they get brought up a bit too much, but maybe that's just me. Everyone is entitled to post what they want. The funny thing is though that I notice the exact same thing over on GPL whenever I happen to head over there to see what's going on. There will be a thread talking about some Gopher-related subject, when someone will just throw in a Sioux-bash without being provoked. Same situation. The only difference that I can see between the two situations is that I don't remember ever seeing a Sioux fan on ss.com posting "you guys should go to GPL and see what is being said about the Sioux in this thread". Apparantly that is the norm for the GPL folk though, as that appears to be quite common over there. Tattling = The Gopher Way

I was thinking the same thing.

And that may not necessarily be a bad thing.

Here's the article on Bickel signing with the Ducks: http://www.twincities.com/ci_9756341?nclick_check=1
-
Hammy reported on GPL that Bickel from the Gophers will be signing. Tough loss for them, as he was one of their most consistent dmen last season from what I saw.
-
I don't think so. Recruits like Toews, Gregoire, Hextall, Gleason, Kristo, etc are all top level recruits that are coming in within the next couple seasons. I think Hakstol and Co have done an excellent job recruiting since he took over for Blais.
-
I don't know. I guess it's a plus that he didn't leave at midseason.
-
I was joking. I see Trupp having a big year for the Sioux next year. I think this is going to be a fun team to watch. They certainly have loads of offensive talent.
-
Sitting in the stands with Davidson? The Sioux are going to be really deep at forward this year. Not alot of huge goal scorers (outside of Duncs and Kozek), but many players that are capable of putting up 10 goals each or so. It is a good "problem" to have. We shouldn't have any problem putting out three solid scoring lines and one checking line that can also put in some goals.
-
Frattin reminds me alot of Kozek. A really quick, hard, accurate wrist shot, he just has to work on getting it off more frequently and from better spots. I think he has potential to be a 15-25+ goal scorer in his jr/sr years. Hopefully he can improve a bit from last year in his soph season, because he certainly showed potential at times last year.
-
I think we'll actually have improved scoring, especially if the WCHA actually calls it tighter like they say they will. The entire league as a whole was down in scoring last year, not just the Sioux.

It is currently 2008.
